Goony's waiting for you.... :D

If you do it right yes it will be safe

The bar needs to be shaved about 2mm lower than being flush with the caliper. Then take that 2mm off the face of tat caliper also.

any chance of a pic mate ? ive managed to get bolts, but with them being 10mm out the treads to far out now and it looks crap tbh, ive been told mk3 golf vr6 calipers are different but im not so sure. if i could get away with a few mm less it wouldnt be to bad. The later mk3 vr6 calipers came with 288mm disks with a bigger piston in the caliper. What exactly did you want pics of? The shaved calipers? You can't really see it unless you are comparing it up against another standard caliper and the only spare I have is burried in a box somewhere. They are just shaved by 3mm on the face of the caliper. Hope this helps.

I had this happen to me on a normal road. Your only hope of getting them to pay is if they had no signs up and if you took pictures.

You can get longer bolts from most motor factors. You would possibly need to space the fronts out by about 8mm. You could get 5mm spacers and then get the calipers shaved down by 3mm. I have 7.5 et20 borbet a's on the front of mine so it's not as bad as yours but I originally had 5mm spacers on there. I then got the calipers down by 3mm - worked a treat.

Looks very nice :)

New sumps from the dealers are just under £60.
-
I just had this on mine. It was the solenoid on the starter motor.

No I do not think you are being unreasonable. Two stone chips is very good for a rado! lol Two suspension bushes is hardly the end of the world either especially as he already had money off the car in the first place.
-
Do they not tow to the card holders address though?
-
It should say on the caliper, failing that ot should say on the piston what size the mk4 calipers are. Im pretty sure the mk3 golf rears are the same.
-
Are you that was on the FK website and not the Weitec's? Saying this as I know for a fact with certain wheel aplications witht he Weitec's you need to use spacers. I've never heard of this with the highsports. You shouldnt have any problems with standard wheels and highsports. My other half has had highsports and speedlines on one of his rado's and had the coilovers on the lowest setting, with the chinspoiler on the floor, and he had no problems with them.

Cant remember to be honest. As far as we can remember it is any mk4 with the larger piston carrier that uses the same size rear disks as the rado.
-
I didnt think they were.

New Baby.......werent you and your mrs expecting one same time last year ? Drop us a PM when you know which shows you are doing for definite :) Congrats to you and your mrs on the new baby :) Would be interesting for you to see the rado now as you knew it when it was all together properly. I see it as me having put it all back together (does that make sense?).
-
Ah come on. Don't be daft, we all have stone chips! Get some pics up :) I used to have FK AK's which in my opinion were fab! I only changed to the highsports so I could go lower on them. Now go and take some pics of your rado! :)

Looking good Andy. You doing any of the shows this year? I'd love you to see your old vr again :)

From the marks in the field it looks like someone was doing donuts - maybe it was nicked and someone was joyriding.

Hi and welcome to the forum. It depends on how low you want to go really. If you just want a mild drop then I would say the Koni's as this set up wont be too harsh. Back axle - if you have access to the tools I would inspect and possibly change the rear axle bushes and also have a look at the brake pressure accumulator and give it a clean up and a lube. Rear Calipers - mk4 golf rear calipers are interchangeable and highly recommended as the best upgrade as they are a different design and far more reliable. Oil - Everyone has their own opinion to be honest but I use synta silver 10w 40. Suspension - shop around really. I got my highsports from venom as they had the best price for FK's. Your best bet would be to go through golf+ or pvw and phone around the traders in the back to compare prices. Hope this helps you out! Enjoy you new corrado!! :)

Sorry about the blur but this is the best pic we could take of the damage .......

You are a diamond! Yes please. I will PM you my address details. Thank you.

Hmm, right we have found the cause of this..........finally. It is the upper chain tensioner. This has already been replaced once when the head gasket was done. (Before the rebuild) However, it looks like the tip of the upper chain tensioner has snapped off due to wear and there are two deep grooves in the tensioner itself where the chain has been rubbing against it (very deep, almost past the rivets). Any ideas on how this could have happened? Could the upper tensioning bolt be putting too much pressure on the tensioner pad? The chains were brand new when we rebuilt it and the upper tensioner pad was replaced a couple months previous to that and was fine on inspection during the rebuild. The only thing not to have been replaced was the upper tensioning bolt. Could this be the culprit for the damage or is there something else we should be looking at? Also, is there any way of sliding the upper tensioning pad off without completly removing the gearbox?
