  1. Its yours if you want it Karl!
  2. I seem to remember a couple of people on here that has carried out the change from dizzy to coilpack, maybe do a search? Just did! http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?51828-VR6-Distributor-Engine-change-to-Coil-Pack-Type The top cover and rear cam needs swapped over. The coilpack engine has a cam sensor, and the magnet or whatever, is on the cam..
  3. To echo Coullstar. I went to Silverstone mid 80's. Standing at club corner - I just couldn't comprehend the speed the F1 cars took it at. It was a 90 degree bend and the cars were like on rails! The downforce kept them glued to the track, when they should have slid off.
  4. Nice one! http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f11/96-j ... s-1149721/
  5. The VR is excellent in the snow - the heavy lump over the front makes all the difference. The valver on the other hand was useless. Same size and make of tyres as VR (Kuhmos) - even at idle let the clutch out and the wheels would spin.
  6. The guy is a tool. rather than helping her - he just laughs and takes the footage. It is his house she hit - serves him right! Lessons learned, she won't do that again.

  8. I don't know if this is a pearoast but.. How not to tow a car out of the snow..
  9. I've had an intermittent problem with my VR throwing coolant out of the expansion tank. Sitting in traffic the temperature would rise to 110 on the gauge, normal running it would always sit around 70. I tried the usual, new expansion cap and seal. no effect. New expansion tank - again no effect. I hadn't heard the fans coming on, so checked them today. Bridging the wire ont he temperature sender plug at the radiator, the fans run fine. I couldn't remember hearing the Auxillary water pump. Stripped off the end engine cover and noticed the wires coming out of the electrical connector to the pump were bared. I checked the voltage at the connector and it was OK. Decided to replace the plug as I had a spare. Gave it a wee run and the temperatures are back to normal - just below 70 deg on the dial! I reckon the pump was not working, the temperature was high and it would spit the water out of the expansion tank. Also because it wasn't working, it was airlocking in the heater matrix. Again making the expansion tank bubble over. So - a simple fix for throwing water out of the expansion tank! I've ordered a replacement Rad switch (just in case) as I don't think that was working either.
  10. Nah - thats not a burnout - his heater matrix just blew...
  11. 49 years old - that's nothing try 200 years old... http://www.veoh.com/collection/autofan1 ... 11fKCwKB5Z
  12. Yep, under Scottish law clamping is essentially extortion. I'm glad it is unlawful to do that up here :D :D :D
  13. Parking them on grass - they will rot like hell (well a lot faster than normal).
  14. Yes - must have popped in for a coffee or something. Trust me to miss the Google car!
  15. I used to call them hairdressers cars - Until I was supplied one as a courtesy car. They are fantastic - soon change my mind about them. I did notice most women drivers do check you out when driving an MX5! I couldn't have one as a daily driver - but for weekends they are brilliant!
  16. A good text sent to the phone last week. Just driving my new Toyota Prius. Chat later, can't stop.
  17. You said you turned the engine over by hand and there was no resistance. There should have been as the pistons are compressing air. Maybe you should check the engine timing marks all line up.
  18. You should be getting around 350 miles to a tank on an early valver - -that's what I got from my one. That was with a duff deceleration valve. A couple of years ago according to the display - 36 -40 mpg.
  19. Cool SonicRiot! I must say most Americans I have met personally are really great guys. Most, I know were at University in St Andrews. The American students were appalled at the American golfers over visiting with tartan trousers, tartan jerseys the lot! They did look ridiculous. We do a dis-service to our education system, which is very good, and should be grateful for! However, that guy removing the wheelnut must be seeking attention somewhat. I do remember a similar nightmare scenario when replacing the crankshaft bolt on the valver - the bolt broke when undoing it. Basically I managed to get into the centre of the stuck stud and drilled a small hole through the centre (2mm drill)- larger drills just burned - it is a hardened steel. I used a small set of diamond encrusted dremel bits - bought for £7 from a fleamarket. I thought they would be useless, but taking my time with the dremel - light pressure, I cut slots through the broken stud, and then collapsed it and then removed the faulty parts.
  20. http://www.adtrader.co.uk/motoring/cars ... 2_cpn.html New headgasket and only done 65K.
  21. I dunno - could come in handy - the amount of times the horn has went off when using VAG-COM.
  22. Hi Folks, A question for you peeps. If I remove the rear drivers side engine mounting - will this give me access to the inside of the subframe/engine cradle??? I've just removed the bolt from the front wishbone bush and it has snapped! This is not good :brickwall:
  23. That is indeed impressive! The pistons are effectively pressurising the cooling system. It is amazing everything held together. if the hoses were old - the chances are they would have blown first!
