HI, I'll take the crack pipe and water pump please at asking price. Can you PM me payment details? Thanks, Jamie
-
Main one is the interior. If the heating controls are dials (rather than sliders), then it'll be a facelift model (plus the fact it's a nicer interior altogether, different switches and materials etc). Also, the bonnet will be the 'humped' version, i.e. it curves upwards and is more bulbous than the pre-facelift one. I think in addition, the fogs/indicators are different, more flush with the bumper and the front bumper mouldings at the arch are more moulded to match the lines of the arch. And possibly a larger fuel tank ( 15gallons vs 12gallons). Hopefully this is right, please anyone correct me if I'm talking baloney!

Flash Red? Check the paint code under the boot carpet. Flash is LP3G. Looks like you have the bigger bonnet so not likely to be Tornado.

Oh Kev, controversial! It is all so subjective of course, but surely you must agree standard is more than good enough unless you are actually racing or 'competing' against a fellow road user? Or have double the power output in which case yes, upgrading is sensible That said, I've got Koni T/a's, does that eliminate me from proper standard suspension chat?
-
Kev - Yes :) I will carry 1 litre of coolant and a 5 litre bottle of water along with oil, PAS and brake fluid. and a carefully selected bunch of tools. I know it's more weight, but you never know when or why you might need it. Can't get breakdown cover for the Corrado, so need to be as self sufficient as possible. I'm def of your view Kev - my Rado has only broken down once, and that was my fault for not fitting the oil pipe correctly causing it to chafe, but better safe than sorry!

Hi all, Looking to take some spares on my road trip next month and don't have any spare (VR6) cooling hoses. The main ones I am looking for are the top and bottom hoses. Not bothered about colour or brand, just something that I could use in an emergency to get me home (being at most 1800miles!). Any other ones would be welcome also. As cheap as possible would be lovely! Thanks, Jamie

Hope you enjoy it! I liked my old G60 I had when I was 19. Just such a different car and really stands out, visually and technically. Standard height with upgraded shocks will give handling the car deserves... :)

I can't remember exactly, but it was something light, not actually grease tbh. I'm sure I sprayed it all with GT85. I'm sure someone will know the best stuff to use tho. I'm sure the bushes don't actually need it, but it's never done any harm to mine, or the countless model trains I used to dismantle and make run better by lubricating when I was young :) I found the lower bearing/spindle bit was pretty rusty, so that got proper grease. Cotton wool buds are good for fiddly bits on the casing.

I footered about for ages getting the white fan off, then realised it doesn't actually need to come off, in fact, it's easier to remove the motor with it on. It's a bit of an hand-robatic feat getting all the rubber tabs depressed in tho! Very satisfying hearing it whirring quietly!
-
Have you dismantled the fan to clean out the bushes and so on? It's really easy to to, jsut press in the rubber tabs and it all lifts out. Make sure you have disconnected the wires by popping of the resister cover. I did it with mine and greased it all up, stopped the squeaking :)

Hmmm I did this recently and just ordered the spec stated in the Wiki guide from Maplins. (Thermal Fuse 184C RA19V £0.71 )Not sure if that's what you're looking for tho?

Fitted mine a coulpe of weeks ago, meant to post sooner. Only got front ones, but was very impressed with the quality of the pipes and bends. Bit of a fiddle to fit the drivers side one, but it fitted really well with no adjustment required. Passengers was a doddle. Glad I did it as the originals were kinda rusty in the arch and would not detach from the flexi's. The last time I got copper fitted to my Mk2 in a garage, it was an unsightly mess of copper that squiggled along the bulkhead - none of that with these :) Could you PM me a quote for the rear pipes i.e. after the compensator? Cheers,j

I've got one that I've been keeping but really don't need. £30 + postage - will need to confirm postage as I haev no idea what it'll cost. This is for the main upper manifold, not the smaller one ( need that incase I remove the LPG for some reason). Can send out on Saturday if that suits. If okay, let me know on this and I'll PM you.

No idea why battery is now appearing flat. Maybe something jsut got left on? With regards to leak, my 16v Golf has a similar issue - drove fine, then suddenly oil pouring out the drain hole. In the end turned out that the bellhousing had been punctured from within the gearbox. The gears worked fine and I never worked out what caused it. Just telling you because you might not notice and just assume the seal was leaking under pressure. The hole was in one of the indents, so hard to see. Worth checking. Hope you get it sorted. Doing the clutch is pretty easy, getting the gearbox off and on is the tricky bit (in a VR anyway, 2.0l might be easier to position engine).

Wholeheartedly agree. They say ' You must do this', but it's completely unaffordable to comply. I truly believe it will only cause more fraud to happen - cloning of plates etc... The irony is, people with low value cars who drive uninsured aren't really risking much at all. What's a few points and a fine? The fine will be cheaper than insurance. And the points will only make their insurance go up even more, meaning they will probably just continue until they get caught next time...a ban and higher insurance premium... so they'll do it again, because it's almost impossible to get insurance. So all the while, our legal system ENCOURAGES people to drive uninsured! It's not hard to get a car taxed without a proper insurance policy. And sadly, as discussed on here before, people NEED a car to work ) nuless you press pause, make sugar loads of changes and suddenly people go back to the old way - live where you work). Arghh...
-
This one is intersting. The only real change for most people is that you can't leave the car taxed on the road, without insurance. It must be declared SORN and put on a drive. The main impact, in my opinion, is that it will create a lot of papaer work for DVLA, esp if people who have campers and maybe leave it on the road all year with tax, but lapse the insurance, now have to SORN-unSORN-SORN and so on. If the car community collectively played this right, DVLA will get bogged under with a huge increase in tax refund applications, SORN declarations etc... I'd love to see the business case. IF a lot of motorists(or criminals?) will be affected, then the is good support for the change, but will create a administration headache for DVLA. If the numbers are low, then it's a pointless change in the first place. Of course the other option could have been, heaven forbid, a sensible policy which insures the driver, not the car. Or course, no-one will push for that because insurers would lose a fortune in revenue, and the police couldn't just watch a computer screen to detect crime...so in the meantime, they come up with this contrivation ( is that a word - contrive-ation?) to try fix a problem.. Oops, two rants in as many days.

oh Yes... :)

Looks different to the one I got for mine. Is it for a VR? Just a tip, make sure you use locking compound on the threads. Both Cazza and myself suffered loosening bolts (despite having tightened them). Also, don't horse the bolts up too much, it's aluminium and prone to stripping threads if you're too ham fisted. Apart from that, it's a nice mod :)

thats a nice post you have attached to that giant add!

I don't see ads in replies either. I don't mind the ads, I get used to them, but do often think the analytics tools needs some tuning to make them worth while. As said, why display ads with 'Corsa' when it's a VW Forum etc...? Some fine tuning of tagging or meta-datashould make them more effective. That said, I'd never buy from a banner ad anyway. If it gets some income for the Forum, it's not really a big hardship. -
Just like Corrado's! :)

Yup, been there before! Cursing poor car and it was my fault! Something I did on the way back from meeting you was check the (top) adjusters on the shocks. What I found was that they were about 1/8th of a turn out of sync. Reset them and wound back carefully and equal amounts - the car suddenly doesn't waver about on undulations or pitch a bit under hard braking. Had an amazing drive to Aberfeldy yesterday :)
