  1. Thank you Alex :) Prob best starting a new thread for the next meet. I can do any weekend in October except 15th/16th. I'd love it if we could do it before end of October as there's a chance the Rado will be going into hibernation for some much needed tlc when the tax runs out. I'm easy on location - Scone sounds good. Falkirk wheel would be good, but I'm sure you have to pay to get in to the car park for a photoshoot. Happy to be corrected.
  2. Well, the weather held out and (I hope) a good time was had by all :) Hero of the Day had to be Elliott for nursing his poorly 16v to the meet, and thanks also to Elliott for giving us all a scan with VAGCOM. Diddy of the Day was the tourist who said as , dalhalvaig pulled up, commented 'look, there's another Capri'. Hmm... he was followed closely by the nice National Trust guy who was taking pics of the cars and said he liked the Scirocco's...we kindly educated him! Gooseberry of the Day was Dave/Div (Elliott?!) who joined us with his lovely Scirocco, but was very welcome nonetheless. Lunch at the Red Lion was excellent. There def seems plenty of interest in another meet, and Mr Alex_G60_Fantastic has agreed kindly to look at this :) Don't see it being an issue getting well into double figures if the dates suit. Alex - there was chat that you must bring some Dundee cake for us all tho... Couple of pics... Yours truly in red... dalhalvaig easypops elliott
  3. See you all at 1pm Doue Castle :) Looking out the window, the sun is shining, so fingers crossed! Will PM moby to those coming.
  4. I've not read the detail, but it looks like a rejig of the Napier Deltic engine on a smaller scale. Funny, I was talking about that with someone the other day, very impressive piece of engineering. They are so smooth the use them on minesweepers in the Navy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Napier_Deltic In fact, the more I read it, it is just a simplified Deltic engine. Sorry Mr Germany, but we Brit's designed it years ago, you're just tweaking it.
  5. I use Tesco's £1.50 microfibre cloths for getting oil/grease/dirt of tfhe engine bay/door pillars/sills etc. They are perfect because they retain the dirt and don't smear. Follow up with baby wipe and you're laughing :)
  6. I'll be nudging 190k on Sunday, maybe i'll be the grandad...lol Alex - I'm sure I've got a chin spoiler kicking around that I might never need. It's not mint, so you can have it if I can find it. Let me know if you can make it Sunday, even if not in Rado or with a lift and i'll try remember bring it (I have a memory like a sieve!) Don't think any Aberdeen guys can make it, coullstar has some stuff on, but said he'll see how it pans out. Fingers crossed it's not too wet. The Red Lion gets good reviews, so maybe a wee bite to eat could be in order :)
  7. Yup,. def going ahead, got a good few people interested. Anyone else, don't be shy! I'll PM those confirmed my number in case of traffic/unforeseen stuff.
  8. Yeah, bring him (or her!) along, will be nice to see a Scirocco. Cable will be great, thank you. You might be in demand! Got 7 (i think) confirmed now, so def going ahead!
  9. The cynic in me thinks that only to make you buy 4 instead! Never had any issues last year and had the same setup (part worn too). Thing is, the Corrado is pretty good without winter tyres on account of the weight upfront (esp VRs) and the neutral handling. The winters have added benefit of staying softer when cold as well as a more aggressive tread pattern, even if worn. Once upon a time I drove my old Land Rover with cross ply's on the front and radials on that back - that was fun!
  10. Yeah, got them on ebay. Didn;t bother with rears as the car was fine last year with decent summer's on the back.
  11. Decided on a whim to order some winter tyres for the front. I had Continental Winter Contacts last year and they were simply superb. Literally charged up anything I flung at them, went round corners like on rails and stopped very well. I hope it snows this year now! If you're thinking of it, would recommend getting some now while prices are okay. I got part worn, same as last year.
  12. OKay, I've PM'd those who have indicated interest. Plan is to meet at 1pm on Sunday 18th at Doune Castle. We will decide on the day what we would like to do. There are nice pubs in the area, some cracking drives and other nice sights, so we have plenty to choose. "Parking is available 275 metres from the entrance of the castle. Cars can be driven up to the castle door but would have to reverse to the car park." - Let's do a line up! I'll be bringing a camera for some photo shoots, but the more the merrier - I'm not that great! If anyone else wants to come along, just holler or turn up! Finally I have a request! If anyone has a working VAGCOM cable and laptop, would they mind bringing it? My cable packed in and I need to see why the ABS light comes on intermittently! I know it's cheesy, but lets make this happen! Thanks, J
  13. Hi Rich. Welcome! I'm doing a wee bit of hijacking I'm afraid! Have you seen the Scottish meet thread? http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?57923-Scottish-Corrado-meet-18th-Sept I hope you can make it! If you can, PM me for details, althoguh I'll update the thread early next week with final details!
  14. Very nice looking car. Loving the OZ's. May I hi-jack a bit and ask if you've seen this thread? http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?57923-Scottish-Corrado-meet-18th-Sept Would be great to see you there. Hopefully a few from Ayrshire going, so you could convoy up :) Cheers, J :)
  15. Hey, sorry been away for two days and not been checking much. Defo nothing stopping it happening. Okay, I think we'll go with Sunday 18th September. We'll never find a date to suit everyone, so hopefully as many people can make it as possible. If you're planning working on your Rado, this is the ideal time to get some idea's or hints :) So, date set, location next. Still WIP. I'll PM everyone that's expressed an interest at the weekend and we can take it from there
  16. I was thinking Doune too, nice area and easy for most to get too. Thinking Sat afternoon or a Sunday also. Soooo... not being very experienced at these things(!), lets go for date first. I've got a wee spreadsheet in work where i've started tracking availability and locations. Let's start with this month then, I'm free most Sat's n Sun's bar 11th. Sooo how about we start at 17th/18th? :)
  17. Good stuff diarmaid! I got my VR from a guy in Lockerbie, he bought my yellow G60, apparantly it's still running about down there.
  18. Right, I'll have a look into places n stuff and see where is best. Think somewhere about Stirling would be fair if we have Dundonian's and Fifers? :)
  19. Hello all, I've been thinking about this for a while so decided I'd see if there was any interest. Lot's of people it'd be good to meet up Not thought of dates yetbut thinking probably October sometime? I only say west because that's where I live, but if there is interest from a broader area, could try and centralise. So just looking for a yae/nae first and then I can give it some good thought. I'm trying to work out somewhere that would work regardless of rain and that's not a Tesco covered car-park! If there is interest, I'll start doing a spreadsheet to keep track of things :) So, anyone? Yes/No and Location plz :) Don't forget to piont this thread in the direction of anyone you think may be interested Thanks all J
  20. I hate MOT's too. I now use the same place and stay for the MOT and watch it happening. I ilke to see exactly what's wrong and feel there is less chance of someone being 'at it' if I'm watching and it's clear they won't get any business to fix it. The place I go to are very fair tho and use advisories wisely rather than just fail :)
  21. I know I probably say this all the tie but I wouldn't swap my car for much else. I'm now doing 60+miles a day in it and simply never tire of driving it. Although I got pumped by a Mk6 GTi last night on a twisty, I didn't stand a chance! But yes, I often wish I could buy another one just cos they are cheap and I'd like another, esp in white. I'm probably quite lucky with my old soldier, although I spent a wad last year it was worth it for the amount of problem free miles I get :)
  22. Just to add my tuppence, I'd really fancied a 3.2 for mine and drove a friends Audi 3.2 Quattro. I was quite disappointed, whilst the lower down torque was nice, when you gave it beans, it ran out of breath about 5.5k, whereas the Rado is only picking up then. I've decided to stick for now on that basis - I like the 16v style nature of the 12v I think :) There's a 24v 2.8 from a Bora with loom, ecu and exhaust on SVAG for £350. Has 160k miles tho. In Aberdeen. I've been sooo tempted but talked myself about for aforementioned reasons :)
  23. Aviva have been the best this year for me, my partner and a friend with an S3.
  24. When I refitted my engine, it wouldn't fire. Turned out the multi plug wasn't quite on right, it needed twisted a bit more to fully locate the pins. Fired up immediately after that. Maybe it's been dislodged when doing some of the other bits? Worth a check anyway. The brown lines should match up
