  1. Good question Jim - I've got the same issue I'm looking to solve. I've bought new washers for the areas, but my plan is to buy a heat shield from another car and cut it up, mould (hammer!) it flat, and use as repair patches with a small drilled hole in the middle. Not ideal, but will do the job I think, and given no-one will see it, the look of it doesn't matter. Will not get round to it for a few weeks, but will post pics when I do. However, would be good to hear other ideas for this.
  2. Just wondering if anyone else has issues with the google ads pish covering the grey menu bar making it a real pain to navigate about? I click the wee x on the corner of it, select 'ad covers the page' and refresh the page - and the f***er comes back. Any way I can stop this or move it?
  3. oh, if you want to sharpen up your front end, remember to spec out Mk4 R32 wishbone bushes, the rear ones. Made a lovely different on mine (the originals were barely worn). Something like these http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Volkswagen_Golf_3.2_2003/p/car-parts/suspension-and-steering/suspension/suspension-bushes/?610441565&1&4cdaeda769abb043060736d7f4a1525837774bfb&000437
  4. Definetly need to replace the wishbones? The ony thing (?) that can go wrong with them is rot surely? Tracking maybe out because of worn bushes/balljoints, but will not be down to a worn wishbone... bent maybe if in an accident or rusty, but rust wouldn't cause the tracking issue. My tip - do the whol lot at once, it'll be worth in in the long run. Bushes, balljoints and track rod end and bearings, whilst it's all off. You should never have to touch tem again in the lifetime of the car. Will be money well spent. will be better balanced too and not mean a mix of different quality parts.
  5. Well...forecourt prices have now dropped...£1 a litre anyone?! Better late than never.
  6. I just bought a pair - mine are awful, even with the filed down lugs. Fingers crossed this will do the trick! Thanks for all the tips folks. Jamie
  7. Stock(ish) is the way forward :) I'd have this in a minute if we weren't saving to build a house...the upside is we've planned a mega garage so one day when it's built, I can have a few Corrados..and a Scimitar...and Land Rover :)
  8. Happy New Year y'all :) Going to bed soon... ;)
  9. Cool! I can't get this Panjo thing to work, says will only ship in the US. Can you drop me a PM with banks detail for payment please? Cheers, Jamie
  10. Hi Alex, can you PM me a price for the rear 4 pipes please i.e two on the trailing arm, and two into the brake Compensator from the flexis at the beam bush please? Mine are calling out to be done asap, don't think they'll pass the next MOT. Many thanks, Jamie
  11. Finished out wee build project tonight :)
  12. Can I take the 90A alternator? Will drop you a text to arrange pick up? Cheers, J
  13. Once it's built, it doesn't take long to get to the dealers, we were delayed by a week because of the paper work, if you can get that all arranged well in advance, should get the car to you quicker. It's a great machine, we've averaged 32mpg over the last 3000miles...yes, I did say 3000miles in 1 month...need to calm down a bit with that! It's fairly easy to get 38mpg taking it easy, took it a 'proper# drive from Dunoon to Inveraray and back, and couldn't get below 20mpg...which was quite amazing! It's a nose heavy car, if you're gunning through corners, it's fine, but if you are only going semi faster, it def errs towards understeer - if I could sort the Haldex bias out it might help, but being a lease car and all that... All said and done, no regrets, perfect Q car - your granny could happily drive it!
  14. 6 hours, £40..2 people...£2.22 per hour, less materials..Lord Sugar would say - You're Fired! Might want to rework the proposition or you'll be losing money!
  15. I'm running B4s on my standard springs and the setup is beautiful. Bit harsh on urban pothole roads, but at speed, it's just beautiful. IT's almost impossible to get the car upset, perfect balance of travel and firmness.Whilst my other halfs Golf R is very quick and has oodles of grip, on bumpy rods, the slower Corrado is much better to fly over. I just need the get the rear axle bushes done and suspension refursh is complete.
  16. oh wullie! :( I predict that sometime soon you'll across a Corrado in need and not be able to resist. The owner will give it to you because he/she wants it to go to a good home and you'll be back on track :)
  17. Can we just not go there? No online threads ever end amicably that i've seen and this is too good a forum! :) eiher way, Corrados will still exist and be cherished and really, that's all that matters
  18. Can I go for the tank straps and the bonnet foam please? Can arrange pick up in Erskine or something again if that works? Cheers, Jamie

    Dubai

All the best! I've seen a Corrado VR6 in Dubai so who knows, you could end up with one!
  20. Got the car on Tuesday - lovely machine! Devastatingly quick when needed, but will putter about quite the thing, currently averaging 32mpg but expecting to improve. Handling is great, sticks like glue. Partner loves it, which is good, but I'm still quite content with the Rado for the time being - it's never a hardship getting bck into it. Just need to get the rear bushes done, check why I've lost PAS fluid, sort the sill and maybe get a respray :)
  21. Hi all, The front section of the passenger side sill has a hole in it and some prodding is revealing that it's all pretty crusty. I dread to see what's under there. Anyhoo, given that I'm about to replace just about all the brakes, bushes, bearings, ball joints and droplinks to keep here going another few years, I want to get this fixed. I've not seen any sill sections available new - does anyone have a breaker that they could cut the section out from? As I still drive her everyday, I'm not sure how far forward I'll need - probably up to the arch and we';; know exactly what's required once we do the work. Any help would be much appreciated, Thanks, Jamie
  22. My price was car and road tax for the duration, although some come with maintenance. We're down for 5k miles per yer, but the mileage excess on ours is 7.2p per mile, which works out cheaper than agreeing a 10k lease - we'll not do huge miles in it anyway. Servicing - should only require one service, if that. Insurance is half the price of our S4, which amazed me! (Craig is 25 and was paying over £700 for the S4, now under 400). The whole scndal was that he really cheap deals are only available to 'businesses', incuding Sole traders. They cannot explain why 'personal' customers pay more. If you're a Sole Trader, you'll be quids in!
  23. Vandalism - get it fixed, insurance or pay your own. Need to go through approved repairer tho. Bored - tough! it's only 2 years tho and a decent spec car, hopefully wo't be too painful :) Lose job - onto plums, but ultimately, if you lost your job, you would advise them and work out a resolution. As for chipping....welllllll...there's a question! The 'holier than thou's elsewhere have a fit on that. Really, it's a big no-no, will kill the warranty and breach T&Cs, so needs to be kept standard. It's def not for some and we'll see how this goes. I've got the Rado to tinker with, quite happy if we have a car that we never need to touch for 2 years. I got VWFS to agree verbally to honour the deal I signed up for, but the actual application has gotten stuck...surprise. If I succeed, it's £230p/m with £1400 down. I hate being in debt too, not my thing, took me years to sort out my 'just get a loan' youth so will see how this goes.
