Modern car headlights... is it just me?
jamiehamy replied to Critical_Mass's topic in General Car Chat
Half the problem is thast those with Xenons never clean them or appear never to be clean. When they are dirty, they scatter the light more than with clean lenses, making it more blinding than otherwise would have been. -
Ferrari f430 replica body kit group buy? Final Numbers!
jamiehamy replied to EJ Taylor's topic in Forum Group-Buys
There's always got to be one stick in the mud, but you guys are seriously going to affect the value and credibility of my F430. However, always looking for ways to improve my street cred, do you think they would make a Corrado replica body kit for my Ferrari? I'd defo take wan 'o thaym. -
Well said that man! :)

I wouldn't say original suspension is uncomfortable, quite the opposite. It`s only choppy on tight twistiies, otherwise fairly sublime! I took the Corrado to France lowered with Koni shocks ,then away the next year on standard springs and the difference was amazing. I'd like to get bigger ARBs to keep the roll down, but doubt i'd ever go back to lowered on the Corrado. You can go fast over any road without sideways whiplash!

No Corrado For Me Its All About Polo 6n's (isnt really)
jamiehamy replied to Greatraz12's topic in Members Gallery
I don't mean to sound mean, but we are a Corrado specific forum, so don't expect much enthusiasm for the Polo! Although once you have a Corrado, I'll open my arms wider :) -
As Goldie said, sounds like the end of the gearbox, but it's on the siude of the gearbox, not the bottom of the engine? It might look like it was once green and yes, it'll be full of fluid. You might actually get away taking it off if the car is jacked up as the fluid will be over to the drivers side. Why do you want it off? You'll be lucky to get it back on once it's off, they are on tight and will be damaged on removal.

Is that still palletted Fanjita? I know I said it's take it, but not managed to sort somewhere to keep it as it'll not fit in my flat cellar on a pallet and I have no garage! Anyway, if that's palleted i'll def take it even if I have to keep it in the van for a bit! Just don't tell my other half

I know the R32 can be done, but wondered if it would be more awkward for the installer as it's a conversion and 'things' might be different to the norm, in differnt places etc? I'm getting itchy feet and have a feeling I'm going to go for something soon - will it be putting a V6 into the T25, old Range Rover P38 on LPG or upgrading to a nicer Corrado?! Or maybe nothing and try stay debt free?! I don't think i'd put the gas system in myself, would rather it was done by an expert.
-
That is simply stunning. Perfect, wheels are gorgeous on it. If I thought it would be easy to convert this to LPG, I'd be very very tempted. Was seriously considering Kevs the other week.

Does anyone else feel like rebooting their life?
jamiehamy replied to Portent's topic in Off-topic Chat
As said, work to live. Don't be too proud to make a change. I work hard, but only ever do 9-5 unless there is a project going live. I don't get stressed about work and I don't want to climb the promotion ladder. As a result, I think I have a great wee life (well, I think I do!). I have all my weekends to myself, and every weeknight too. I can take holidays when I want and do. I have old cars and almost no financial burden as a result. I live in a wee flat by the water. I could have a much bigger place, I could have a much newer car, but to what end? The sooner I can be mortgage free, the better, I don't care it's in a 1-bed flat. Plenty room for me, hubby and the cats :) You say start in a different area, have you considered moving up north or away fromt he South East? I'm not just trying to plug Scotland(!), but I always hear people say how much more laid back it is up here. My brother worked for one of the Big4 financial companies and ended up moving to London for 2 years. He loved London, but it's a completely different working environment and he hated that. The tipping point was when he was informally reprimanded for leaving at half 6 one night. He's now back up north. So, either keep on going the way you are, and see how that suits, or make a change. Have you discussed it seriously with your wife? Who knows, she might just agree, in which case you've nothing to lose. But do something, if it's not move, then make a commitment not to work late so often (if you are always doing it, identify why this happens - and plan how to avoid). Procrastination is the worst form of being - it's so unproductive. Do something, anything :) -
It's not a Nugget Yellow J-reg is it by chance?

I got one on here for £50 recently if that helps. Had been cut above the axle but a used a sleeve to join and it has been fine. Nice and quiet and no knocks :)

I don't mind them being bigger for winter, esp with the potholes that will appear too, but not sure if they'll fit, esp on rear as seems very tight between strut and tyre even with 195 45 16s...
-
Been offered a set of Beetle alloys, the flat looking 6 spoke ones with winter tyres. No idea what they'll look like on the car and can't find anything on google - anyone help? plus - will they fit on directly or will I need spacers at the back? Think they are ET43, Thanks all, j

We're off to New York at Christmas - do you think they'd send to a hotel there?! I don't suppose Customs would be too upset with a couple of these in our suitcases? Oh - now there's a thought. By chance, my old boss is visiting her sister in New Jersey at the same time we're in NY and we're meeting up whenshe takes the kids to see Santa. This could work...haha I can just imagine my other halfs face tonight when I tell him I'm picking up car parts during our honeymoon...lol

I like the look of that loom, but yeah, not sure if it'll fit without modifying. I like the relay part - that's all I want/need. I need to do something soon, the lights are simply atrocious. You'd have thought waterproof/resistant relays would have been a fairly obvious thing? OR am I missing something?
-
I would try get the car back - having it loaded onto the back of a flat bed is not illegal - do you know where it is? Did you keep a spare key? If so, I'd think carefully about the best time and go take it back - it's not theft, he's only the Keeper, not the owner. I would however apply for a new V5 for the car - you can do that easily using a standard form - the keeper will get a notification - will put the wind up him as he'd have to actively contact the DVLA to stop it. He will have two weeks to do that. You have receipts to say he would pay - that's a lot better than nothing. Would steer clear of Police at the moment - they would probably regard it is a civil matter, so best keep them out for now (in my opinion, but i'm not a lawyer).

I thought that until I bought an Audi S4...not only is everything extortionate, but there's so much more to go wrong. Rado looks like a Lego kit in comparison!

Thanks guys. I kinda suspected this would induce an outburst from you Kev but I'll take your points on board. Tbh I'm not very neat and tidy with wiring and can see this ending up a big guddle :( I spent a good whack on that relay with OEM connectors, hopefully I can at least save them. LIghts are truly shocking without it tho but I dont' have much faith in the loom - why would one relay go like that whilst the others are perfectly intact, no corrosion at all? One other wee thing - any idea why I blew about 2 leadlamp bulbs a month when I had the relay fitted. I used a variety of bulbs just in case, Phillips, Bosch, Halfords but still blew frequently. Maybe related to the relay...or maybe I have a dodgy alternator putting out a high voltage?...hmmm...
-
Hi all, You may have seen on a thread a while back that my car almost went up in flames after one of the relays in the upgraded loom burned out (and strangely never tripped the fuse). I checked the other two which ewre on other side, but they were intact inside, no sign of any corrosion, so not quite sure why this happened. I'm thinking of putting it back in, but will need a new relay (will do all 3). What is the best quality brand to go for? Can I get a weather proof one? They will be strapped to the battery so should not be directly exposed to water or anything, but I want the best quuality possible. Any thoughts welcome. (I'm not putting the relay in the car, would be aqll day trying to extend wires and would look awful!). Cheers, J

Think you've answered your own question mate! :)

Before I fork out for new shocks, thought I'd just check here. Ideally looking for Bilstein B6 front and reats, although Koni T/As would be welcome. I have T/As just now, but one of the rears appears to be goosed and rattling away. Looking for something newish and something that will be suited to standard springs, Cheers, J

Sports Connection have stopped production of Jimmy Saville trackies. The top was an adults, but you had to squeeze into a childs bottom.
