Welcome! My trick I always quote is to unclip the head from the lower part that holds the filter and lift it up. Put your hand in and feel the metering arm - it pushes upwards. Get a friend to switch the ignition on and push the arm up gently as they do so - you should hear the fuel getting pushed through. Need to check the fuel pump too tho - fuses first. Try cranking it and push the arm up whilst they are doing it. Worked for me on my 2 Mk2 16v's. Good luck.

Robo, can i go for the alternator please? Can you pm me bank details - I'm boycotting Paypal as their fees are outrageous. Do you have the 13mm nut for the back? Think mine is seized on. Cheers, Jamie

Scottish rado's... where are they all???

I'm away for two weeks on 29th March in the Rado but def up for it. Thanks for picking this up Goldie -
Use your insurance Jim, it's what it's for. Will not affect no claims and will cost you £70. I had the Audi done recently has requested original Audi glass (despite verious claims that they are the same). Was an extra £65 for an Audi branded one, so if you are fussy about brand, make sure you ask. Indicentally, when I got my Corrado years ago it needed a new windscreen but it's not stood the test of time - lots and lots of micro chips, which only show up in the sun.

I bought ebay ones and they are covered in surface rust

Plusgas...don't try take anything off without putting that on it first.

Bump - anyone? I know it's a strange request - just loath to spend a fortune on wheels and tyres for 2 weeks when i've just fitted new Conti's a few months ago.

Hi all, Beginning to prep for our trip to Serbia and beyond and it looks like we're going to experience some pretty poor roads. I'm thinking about putting some chunkier tyres to give slightly more clearance but hopefully help soak up any rough roads. I'm on 16s just now but they are ET43 and will not take 205 55 16s. Was wondering if anyone had a set of wheels &tyres I could borrow/'hire' for two weeks, or at a good price? I hope it's not a cheeky ask! They will need to have fairly good tyres tho, I gather any reason for a fine. I'm loath to go out and buy new ones as I only need them for the trip. Does not have to be alloys, but think they will need to be about ET35 to clear the strut. If anyone has anything, would love to hear, Thanks, Jamie

What tyres are your running Jim? I bought a wee (Sealey I think) camber gauge to help me get the camber back in line after i've worked on it. It's a footer, but you can get there with some patience. I also do the tracking using the axle stands, rod and string. It's a REAL footer, but it's doable if you have an afternoon. Might help save you a bit of cash and have a go yourself to play about with various settings? Kev Bacon has said it before and he's right - it's got to be spot on with the VR or it's a pile of dung (well, he didn't say dung, I did). I used to hate my handling until I got it sorted. I did the camber and tracking myself and then took it in to have the tracking fine tuned.

Glad you managed to get some use out of it!

Any one know anything about employment law? Contracting question ;-)
jamiehamy replied to andy's topic in Off-topic Chat
Sounds about right. If you are going Ltd AND outside IR35, then you need to be careful, as you need to prove you wouldn`t other wise have been a proper employee. If you are going umbrella, then it doesn`t really matter. Basically they don`t want to get caught up in any tax nonsense that could go wider. That`s my gut feel anyway. -
I originally fitted rubber hoses to it, but one chafed unseen and stranded me in France with a tiny hole. I managed a bodgerepair but bought braided hoses online when i got home. They were longer too, so i routed the right round the pass side of the radiator and along the front.

Hmmm... my favourite mod , because it was, was standard springs and standard exhaust. After 4 yrs, the car was much more like how i imagined it should be. Classy red dash lighting and braided hoses have to be near top, along with h&r rear arb.

One thing that annoys me with the s4 are the 6 gears. No need, it has oodles of power and needs taller gears to make better use.
-
Well done :) My MOT man always seems quite amused each time it goes in and passes with little or no faults at nearly 200k. Good cars :)

Replacing the rubber bits will improve the handling and stability more than the comfort or ride quality I would say. Lowering your car with Apex and standard shocks is probably the worst thing you can do. The standard shocks will not be up to the job, they were not designed for that spring height. I had Apex on mine with Konis and hated them. They snapped too, as did the Apex springs on my S4 when bought it. You would be better putting Bilstein or Koni shocks with your standard springs or at least getting a quality suspension kit, with say HandR springs and Bilstein shocks, which get a good write up. Just my thoughts.
