I'd avoid the insurers if possible, more hassle than worth , esp long term when you'll have to delare it as a non-fault. If it's just some paint, I'd hang fire and get it done when you have cash - will probably be worth your while in premiums. Do you think they crashed because they were starting at your wheels?

Raised in the middle...hmm. I'd describe it as humped at the front. If it's not a VR one it'll look quite flat and low. I ran mine with a 'normal' one for a while and the engine hit.
-
Sounds daft, but do you have a VR6 bonnet? Someone somewhere sometime may have put a 'normal' one on?

I've driven umpteen nice cars over the last few years, Mercs, s4s, RS4, V8 Vantage, Boxster, 911 Turbo, Mini Cooper, BMW 5series, 3 series, X5 and so on. OF all the cars, they are all nice in different ways, but I lie not when I say I am always glad to sink back into the Corrado. It's just such a good, dependable car with not airs or graces. Offends no-one, cheap as chips to run, handles brilliantly, never costs much to MOT, the most comfortable (for me) seats and I don't worry about it getting scratch. Win.

Mine takes about 3minutes for the coolant to reach 32degrees, usually regardless of outside temperature. It takes a good 10-13mins for the oil to get to about 90. My drive out of Inverclyde takes 13/15mins before hitting the dual carriageway, by which time it's always ready to go. The LPG switches over at 32degrees, and happens at the traffic lights 1.5miles down the road. I know this because if you take off from the lights jsut at point of switch over, it sometimes jerks. But 10mins is fairly normal. I've had the crackpipe, thermostat, housing, sensors and water pump all done recently, so all in good order.

Can i go for the headlight switch please? Thanks, Jamie

Welcome! I was up your way last month, over on the Glenelg ferry. I uploaded some pics on another thread. Will be back up in the spring i think.

Like they regulated the banks?

Bobby, I'm on the lookout for a DSLR at the moment. I've tried friends cameras and i'm going for a Nikon. I found it easiest to use - it was simple to change the aperture and shutter speed whilst looking through the viewfinder with my left eye. The Canon's are good too, but I just found the Nikon easier. half an hour reading the manual and I've never used auto mode since, so easy to pick how to use properly. The 3100 has a 14.1mp processor and they come with a 18-55mm lense, which is perfect for most general photography. i borrowed a friends Nikon D40, which only has about 6mp and was really delighted with the results, to the upgraded 3100 will be perfect for me. For your usage, it will be fine, unless you want to bow pics up to enormous size! however, that said, any of Canon, Nikon or Pentax will give great results, it's just wht one you like using. Bet try a few out if you can borrow them.

Thanks for the comments folks. I need to invest in a proper camera, my phone doesn't do the autumn colours justice. A couple more :)

Took a random trip up to Skye today with my mother. The weather was great and it was also the first real good drive I've had in ages in the Corrado. It was brilliant. I've got Bistein shocks, standard springs and a H&R rear ARB. really rough surfaces can be crashy, but the handling is just sublime, soaks up all the undulations without getting flung about, no nose-heavy tendancies. Totally composed, flat in most bends, I had a ball. Only thing I will do is go for 50 profile tyres next time (soon) rather than 45s to take the harshness away hopefully. Was going to go for standard shocks, but not after today's drive. Visited a place called Sandaig too, which is Camusfearna for those that have read Ring of Bright Water. Knackered, 405 miles in a day! Hope you like this pics :)

bulfinch, I was talking to my bro about this this afternoon and he agrees with you in respect of us becoming an importer of gas from the US rather than making major investment into fracking here. Ironically, as much as rising household bills annoy me, I must be honest - mine have not gone up in 5 years. I'm in an 1890 top floor flat that had literally no insulation. I've done the ceilings and now started on the dormers (stripping them and putting mult-foil in) as well as having a pretty efficient boiler. Next stop is to put in new double glaszing when we can afford it and I reckon we wouldn't need much heating. It's amazing how much less often the boiler kicks in now. My bills have barely risen which is good. At least in the UK we are starting to get somewhere with insulation.

I'm not particularly for it and for fairly unscientific reasons. We're f**king with the earth and I'm not convinced that it's good for it. All this short term greed for gas - let's face it, gas prices, or should I say, our gas bills are not going to come down. And tell, me, how much water does this all use? Did I not read that water is precious....funny that fact has disappear from the equation. Quite simply from the descriptions of fracking, I just think 'disnae sounds right'. similarly tho, I'm not very supportive of wind farms either. Most people think they are just these pretty white things spinning away in the wind, without a moments through to the tens of thousands of tons of peat that has been displaced and the impact on water courses of replacing it with concrete. Neither do enough people give a thought to how energy companies are ready for when the wind drops early, or gets too strong (my brother works for an energy company - it's happens all the time). Well, they keep another power station going, just in case. Really energy efficient. I'm a strong supporter of nuclear power, and before anyone accuses me of being a NIMBY - i have a nuclear power station 10miles down the road, a nuclear submarine base across the water, and a nuclear weapons store not far away from that. Nuclear is the way forward - expensive? Maybe, but everything is. And while we're at it - the SNP think that Scotland can be a 'Greener, fairier' Scotland under Indy - ye, whilst selling off as much oil as humanly possible to reap the revenues to stop us from going bust and without a say in how it's used....very good. As long as we d't burn it, then it must be good for climate change. I'm not even a tree hugger, but just get sick of all the fake pretence that people and companies are doing us all a favour when really, it's the bottom line they care about. Why do people not just accept that we're killing the planet and stop all this ridiculous justification of money making schemes in the name of saving the planet? Jeeeeewiz, I woke up all calm this Sat morning!

Arse arse, look at my arse.... :)

If you need a hand with anything Wullie, I'm just down the road. I've got some kunifer pipe nd connectors lying about doing hee haw too if you need some. I've never got round to making my own pipes. You need to keep the Corrado going - you might not know it, but it's a legend in the area. Numerous people over the years have told me about an old white Corrado they saw in Paisley! No word of a lie, I'm positive it was yours!

Was ordering some parts from TPS and asked about front shocks. I was amazed when they offered me shocks for £31+VAT apiece. I ordered but they called later to tell me they are on backorder. Hopefully they get them tho, cracking price! They are from the economy range, but have same warranty as the normal parts and are gas filled. fingers crossed! Said that rear ones are obsolete sadly.

All good here mate, just been busy. Corrado has been slightly neglected. I need to take the exhaust manifold off and replace a gasket and find and fit softer shocks. The Bilsteins are too harsh for standard springs. I actually polished her the other day thanks to easypops messaging and pointing out I'd not been on in ages. I'll make more effort :)
-
Very good! I like to think my humble wee car inspired you to get these! lol
-
I raised this at the at refresh and it changed for a while. then reverted...
-
I've done this, but sure it was over the black, so can't really help I'm afraid. It's a great wee mod for older cars, prevention is better than cure, the cooler you keep it the better.
-
Ah. That's a bit of a relief, will replace it and hope for the best. Thanks easypops, will bear it in mind, I replaced mine because of a hissing noise, but the 'new' one did it too. :z

Went to start the car this morning and there was a bang, followed by smoke drifting from under the bonnet. Jumped out and saw it coming from the area where the idle damper pot thingy should be. It was lying in 4 bits under the car! I think I have a spare, but any thoughts as to why this happened? The smell was strange - like coal smoke :z If it ignited, what could have ignited it, and if so, what would be in it to ignite? If it was some sort of pressure, surely there wouldn't be smoke? Feeling rather confused! I dn't have a carbon canister, although the pipe from the head back into the inlet is there.

I think the lpg helps me squeeze through every year!

Just wanted to share with people who care. Not many people on FB appreciate the sense of achievement this brings :) 201500miles and 20years this year. Same advisory as last 3 years - rear wheel bearing with slight play. Yup, that'll be a Corrado. Feeling happy as larry :)

Chris Gaskell (RW1) Gathering at 1pm at Stanford Hall to Honour Him
jamiehamy replied to KIPVW's topic in General Car Chat
Just logged on after trip away, such sad news. Hopefully his family can take some comfort from the enormous respect people have for him, even from people he never actually met.
