    Oil cooler

Yeah that would make sense alright and its one of my main concerns as the cooler is not getting any airflow in traffic, where did you have it mounted?

    Oil cooler

I haven’t fit the cooler yet it was Rossco who didn’t get much change with oil temp.

What’s that now? I thought it just involved joining the water pipes when replacing the cooler with the sandwich plate?
  4. My idle revvs are currently 1000 but as I said they drop under 500 when this happens its more than likely running rich. My MPGS are not that bad tho avg about 21-25mpg
  5. It restarts fine no problem there, its possible to rev it when i dip the clutch but as I said im usually slowing down so its pretty tricky toe and healing it to keep up the rpm. I usually let is run low rpm in 2nd or 3rd in order to keep up rpms in 1st on downshift coming up to a stop that way its not bumping it. If I just throw down the clutch in 2nd or 1st and coast up to lights it will more than likely cut out.
  6. It cuts out every so often, it runs very low revvs tho around 500rpm before it kicks back up to 800-1000 all of the time.

Well the stat would prevent any engine wear from cold oil so you would only be using the cooler over 80 I would imagine most oil would have opt temp be between 80-95 degrees

whats your avg oil temp? Brand new stat and water pump, getting 106 in traffic 96 on motorway, would prefer sub 90 all the time.

    Oil cooler

One of the reasons Im thinking of mounting it sideways, parallel to the rad in front of the alternator. It would be tricky to get at it every oil change if its mounted in front of the rad and if its sideways mounted it can be drained without taking the brackets off. Has anyone else has put it in this place ?
  10. Might be able to get a 2.0 16V ISV but not sure if they are the same as the 1.8. Its more of a Bog and die cutout than a sudden cut out, its fine when revved out of gear it mainly happens when out of gear going down the revs from say 3 to 1st gear at traffic lights.

I have found my oil temp is grand when doing the work its the short sprints that warm things up and its in traffic/idle. I wouldn’t worry about a plate failing it would be fairly obvious to notice as your oil temp would go over 100 in no time. Some people use plates with no stats for that reason but I have never heard of one failing to circulate the oil. Im still looking for some pics anyone got ideas on where to mount one?

    Oil cooler

Anyone got a mocal or other rad type oil cooler ? How effective are they compared to the water cooled sandwich plate? What is the typical temp differences between an avg 13 row cooler and the standard water-cooled oil? Anyone got a pic of one installed? Is there any issue with the oil temp rising in traffic or when idle as the cooler is not getting airflow and there is no fan on it?
  13. yeah turnover is fine when idle
  14. My valver is cutting out when slowing up in traffic, seems to happen when revs drop going into neutral, battery light comes on flashing most of the time and occasionally it cuts out. Would this be my alternator? Or fuel pump perhaps? My ISV and air pipes are fairly fresh as is my TB and dizzy.
  15. how much do tuscans go for these days? What about the E46 M? OK its a Beemer....
  16. The cup did win the smaller “real world” category which is reasonable enough but rating 3rd among exotica cars was a bit much I agree. I was recently in Aus and it’s very obvious that there is a huge influence/backhanders given to editors of car mags.I read somewhere the Suzuki swift was car of the year last yr in Aus further evidence of such influenced opinions.
  17. Yep but it was going up against a lambo an F430 AMV8 TVR M3CS etc not bad when you think about it. Still I reckon they were influenced by its price and bang for your buck compared to the rest of the cars and the ever growing hot hatch market.
  18. No worries the hunt for a Wilwood MC continues !
  19. That’s what I thought ?? would make sense the larger the cylinder the more fluid it moves etc.
  20. Ive no ABS on my 16V and I have the new mrk iv rears on only thing I can think of would be the rear pads which I’ve read about before causing travel in the pedal.
  21. Well then im not sure if that’s what I need cus I have HUGE travel on the pedal as is with a 22mm MC!
  22. Im looking for one bigger than 22mm to improve the pedal feel non abs tho. Anyone use the Wilwood MCs?
  23. Interesting but they are all abs
  24. Gibber what MC are you going with? Is the VR MC the same as the G60, 22mm?
  25. I drove a friends 172 last year, excellent little car sharp as a razor and comfortable everyday car. It looked well too in silver (not sure if the 182 comes in metallic silver) but they do look the best in that colour IMO. Could prob outrun most non Mod VRs especially through the twisty’s cant rate it highly enough as a full package price/running costs/comfort the full package.
