I had terrible trouble with my H&Rs a while back. One of the front collars had seized and from the look of it had spent some time in a vice by the previous German owner. As a result it was both seized and buckled! I spent 4 consecutive days trying to free it up using various tools/oils. In the end after breaking 2 chain belts, and hacking the teeth to bits with a concrete chisel I took to heat. It was a bit risky I know but I managed to concentrate on the collar only and after 3-4 mins it budged slightly. A can or WD40 later and it was totally free, the gamble had paid off, I wouldn’t recommend heating coilovers you risk damaging them and yourself in the process, I took a calculated risk and it worked out. Its not always the case that this will work, I did it as a last resort as my patience had worn out.

I can’t imagine in 20 years novas and micra’s bring regarded as retro classics like the corrados/Gtis/Capris etc -
I might have a set of H&R coilover springs going if your interested, they’d fit most other sets going (Koni/FK/KW etc) and would upgrade some other less expensive coilover sets being one of the best springs.

I agree however im optimistic about this new GT Id say it will make nice noise also.
-
I had a feeling it was going into the polo but it would outperform the current GTi ! It will prob take a yr or two for that to happen, or at least until the R34 or whatever comes out.
-
Id say the S3 will have the 2.0 TSi alright should be a sweet car when it comes out. What about the next RS6? 4.2TSi 8)
-
More like 7000Rpm ! More torque than the Gti as far as I know?

From vortex "The focus in developing the “Twincharger” engine was placed on designing a new, highly resilient grey cast iron cylinder crankcase in order to withstand the high pressure of up to 21.7 bar over long periods, a water pump with integrated magnetic clutch and supercharging technology." All the plus of a turbo with no lag :)
-
No cus the turbo kicks in at 3500rpm ! boost pressure of the “Twincharger” is approx. 2.5 bar at 1500 rpm- NICE  supercharger being operated with about the same pressure ratio (approx. 1.53)
-
Im sure its been mentioned here before its been in development a while, these are the first pics I’ve seen of it tho, There is a decent article up on vortex about it. Link Cracking performance from a 1.4 will show up the cooper S for sure. Rumour is the 1.6 and 2.0 FSi engines will get the same treatment in various VW/Audi models (300+Bhp S3 )
-
This looks like a nice alternative to the expensive GTI, 1.4 FSi engine with a “Twincharger” producing 170BHp and 220Nm ! The supercharger compensates for turbo lag giving it a 0-60 in 7.2 8) They are calling it the GT TSI there is also a 170TDi coming out under the same GT badge. New BBS wheels on it also :D

Hope this helps, the quality is not great.

What oil cooler u using Chris, Do you get that temp when running the NOS or on a daily basis?
-
They are lighter too ;) you can get the lines from C&R
-
Does this have bleed nipples? If so where ?
-
You can pick up the wishbones from GSF WITHOUT the bushes (Less ££ also) makes the job a bit easier as you only have to fit the poly bushes. Not as easy as it sounds mind you.
-
I finally got around to bleeding my system and as predicted and Im having trouble with pressure. I can get a decent pedal when I pump the pedal with ignition off but on turnover the pedal goes in quite a bit and is spongy. Anyone any ideas why this is happening? Pumping the pedal on turnover doesn’t improve the deep pedal.
-
Having a similar problem myself at the moment on my early 16V (non ABS)after fitting mrk iv rears. If I pump the pedal without ignition I get pressure but on turnover the pedal sinks down with reduced pressure?? I’ve wasted almost 1L of fluid at this stage bleeding (on the ground level) and Im beginning to think it could be the pads im using on the rear? I was looking at my pressure regulator also and it could do with replacing but surely this would have caused the soft pedal beforehand if it is broken?
