Great Pics, I don’t know whether to laugh or cry at some of the cars. It looks like the corrados were the most tasteful mod cars there apart from the convertible yoke of course.

He sold it already??

Try screwing the banjo bolt into the caliper with a spanner, I thought I had the wrong bolt with the mrk iv rears, after a couple of turns I found it was the finishing on the bolt that caused the stiffness in screwing it in  Be careful tho for me it wasn’t obvious I had the wrong thread, it may be different in your case as Im not familiar with 288 calipers.

I found a similar problem when I stripped my engine. Even the small pipe to the right that leads into the breather hose was very messy, I was told dirt builds up around here as fumes (Oil vapour etc) come from the head and pass through here. Even the flange at the front was very messy on me :)

:) The impeller is within the water pump if you have it out you can shine a torch into it to examine the impeller or you can take the pump apart as I did to get a closer look. When you get the injectors out examine the seals (Rubber rings) as they can get worn/scorched with age and may need replacing (Only a few p each ;) )

You don’t need to take off the inlet manifold but it helps free up space to work, you might be better off taking off the air box and injectors or moving them as you can free up more space for the job in this area, you will prob need to take off the alternator to do this job also. Make sure you take a few pics of things before you take them apart for your own convenience. While you’re at this take a look at your water pump (mainly impeller) make sure there are no blocks or cracks on it. It might be an idea to replace the thermostat and O ring also and the belt for the pump (If you decide to take it off) Make sure you have enough coolant to replace the existing stuff and be careful of the various switches around the oil cooler.

I like the look of them but I don’t know if I could justify the price for them. I would prob go for the xeon upgrade if I were going to replace the headlights, Im pretty sure xeons would have better light output, although they may not look as well.

I got my goodridge set from C&R for the rear brake conversion. I believe they sell the 6 line set also for the full job.

What engine do you have?
-
Seems a bit steep even for a Storm.
-
Nice 1, not many 1.8 16V left under 100K these days.
-
How many miles are on your car? How is the engine ?
-
No joke to fit the VW ones, easier fit the poly’s ;)
-
That sounds about right if it was the mrk 3 VR.
-
:)
-
They are talking about mrk 2 manifolds, no?
-
It should fit not sure if the lamba sensor is needed tho.
-
Im sure most of the front bushes would need replacing if the car is very old. New wishbones with poly bushes is a good start, steering tie rods can be fairly worn also if they are the original ones on the car.
-
Double spoiler, what’s the point?
-
I’ve heard they can crack when used with solid engine mounts? Not cheap by any means, it should add around 15hp from low end.
-
I wouldnt regard the VR as humble - one of the best sounding VW engines of all time IMO :) Humble perhaps to the lambo V10 :D

I drove an RX8 with prelli Pzero neros recently savage grip one of the best road tires I’ve ever driven. Im not sure how they are in the wet but like glue on dry roads, they seem to wear well at least that’s what the owner of the car was telling me. I have eagle F1s on my A3 (18s) and they are a good all round tire not sure if they come in 205 50 15 tho, some people claim they are soft but I’ve had good wear from the ones I’ve had over the years. Ive had Pilot Sports in the past also they are a good all weather tire with nice grip also.

I have to agree with mrbeige it’s a bit of overkill, I don’t see the point in putting such detail into hi spec performance engines that are not used to half their potential. Respect due for the effort + detail but it’s a waste if its only ever going mince about looking pretty on the back of a trailer.

Was this a different tornado red 16v to my one?? I must have spent a week T cutting this car last yr, I managed to get most of the white spots out but It does fade quite quickly not to white it just looses its shine. If you do go for a polisher make sure it has variable settings as you can easily cut down to the primer on some parts if you go too heavy. That 3M stuff is good 2 different degrees of cutting heavy for the initial cut (white cap) and the red stuff brings it up nicely when used with a lighter buffer.

I wouldn’t go replacing these unless your having problems with temp/idling, I had trouble with one of these switches it broke unknown to me when I had taken the head off. The car was idling at 3000Rpm when I got things back together and I couldn’t find out what was causing the problem. Here is a photo I took at the time the switch labelled C was broken and the red and green wire & plug is hanging down. Im pretty sure it sends temp to the ECU and controls idle speed. Once I held the plug up to the switch the engine speed dropped back to normal RPM. Im not exactly sure what each switch relays to where apart from C, perhaps someone can shed some light on this, I think switch labelled A with the yellow wire is a water temp sender.
