Speed lines

I know there is a lad in Bukingham who has a rotting VR6 Storm on his drive as the bottom end grenaded, think he brakes them up. I was there a few months back and purchased some BBS alloys off him, however he said he had three or four sets of speedlines for sale but I all ready have a set, dont think he would want much for a set , cant think of his contact details and have lost them now, maybe another member will know who Im on about.
2. In Europe the AAA is the 2.8 VR6 engine fitted to the golf. Jetta, Passat, I believe this is the same engine they fitted in the Corrado SLC in the USA I think, in Europe the Corrado VR6 came with a ABV 2.9 engine block. If you can confirm your engine is AAA 2.8 then you should get a block in the USA easily. This is from Wiki The second was the twelve valve VR6 engine, which came in two variants: a 2.8 litre 179 bhp (133 kW; 181 PS) model for the United States and Canadian markets, and a 2,861 cc (2.9 L; 174.6 cu in) producing 190 PS (187 bhp; 140 kW) at 5,800 rpm and 245 N⋅m (181 lbf⋅ft) at 4,200 rpm of torque version for the European market, fuel feed by Bosch Motronic 2.7 fuel injection.[6] In the United States, the model VR6 was marketed as the Corrado SLC (sport luxury coupe).
3. If your going down that route then Im sure some of the lads on here can help you. Dox didnt see the AAA well spotted.
4. A leaky exhaust and bad lambada = rough running engine bad mixture.I could see the heat gasses escaping from the cat on mine to today quite prolific so I reckon that could give the sensor a crooked reading could be wrong though. Found these guys really sound and the cheapest for Milltek Catback. https://www.milltekexhaust-roadrunnermotorsport.co.uk/ Just to add might aswell do the down pipe if doing the rest of the exhaust system, can get one for £65 with gasket and bolts from BM catalsyt (British Manufacture) it would be rude not to. I had a good look at the EEC Cat earlier and it seems well made also the Bosch sensor screws into the housing spot on.
5. Have you tried a good old bit of injector cleaner like redex or something like that and give it a good run between 4.5 and 5 revs for a few minutes , you never know . Also can you get someone to rev the engine have a look under the car at the exhaust where it meeets the catalytic and see if there is any smoke leaks around that area. Just saying that because had those symptons what you have mentioned and today I noticed a smoke leak where the exhaust meets the cat area, and after the last couple of months checking VAG fault codes every other day it finally threw up code 00537 Oxygen sensor regulation sporadic and 00561 mixture which I expected as the cat and O2 sensor have never been changed. The O2 sensor apparently dont show a fault unless they are totally bad. Thankfully I have these ready to fit . 6. If it was up to me I would keep the original engine and rebiuld it better the devil you know then dont, if your near Banbury go and have a chat with Vince form Stealth Racing he is an expert and can advise you on Corrado engine build. It really is your choice. Suprisngly there is a 2.9 engine block for sale on ebay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vw-VR6-Engine-2-9-AAA/202586091768?hash=item2f2b1270f8:g:fbYAAOSwjmRcVhEL:rk:3:pf:0

8. Ok fairplay I was thinking the classic blue VW circle, OR VW circle in silver/Grey, Or even a Wolfsburg Edition circle.
9. No holes at the back , on this battery bag the cables just slip in the case at the top rear corners, you can see the one corner on the attached picture, the velcro is on the inside so you can easily close the lid and get the cables in . You can only just see the one cable on one corner other is completley hidden . If you wanted to though you could maybe put some good tape on the back and slit a hole but I really think once you have tried it on you wont bother doing that as it looks tidy as it comes. 10. No worries lads says 6 left on ebay. Battery bags also contain somewhat battery leaks or spray so they really are an overlooked part of the engine bay, so do serve a valid purpose in my opinion for little money. .
11. When I purchased my Rado it had the remains of the old VW battery bag and it didnt look like it was ever good to be honest and literally disolved in my hand, this one is thicker and also that well made is described as washable in machine with high quailty insulation.
12. Yeah I think its a small business in Germany that hand makss them , really good thermal material and snug fit. Im sure if someone emailed them they might even make a batch with a VW logo or VR6 Emblem. Also arrived in a about a week so a good reliable ebayer . You dont have to tare the bag at the front either as there is just enough play in the bag for the clamp to grip the battery. Half of the cost is postage so Im sure if someone got a batch over would work out even cheapr.
13. The part number is the Corrado stock part number but as its aftermarket (SSP) they added an R on the end probably means replica . The more expsensive option is the VW original part so they are giving you a choice, Ive got some of the aftermarket ones at home they look good and feel heavy Im impressed to be honest, my old ones are not that bad either so going to give them a powder coat once the new ones are on and put them in the ye olde hoard pile . I also purchase some new bolts and washers . N90369801 hex bolts 4 per plate 321501119A washers 4 per plate Aftermarket on special offer set £18 Original £73
14. Yes mate good timing they are half price at the moment. Thats if your car has the standard rear brake discs from factory of course 226mm x 10 mm . You need part number left 191615611DR and right 191615612DR
15. Thanks for the replt Fend anything that saves the coppers is more then welcome as the VGI is still on .
16. So about a month back whilst driving I lost all electrics on my Rado. Pulled over and after investigation I discovered even though the battery was only a couple years old the battery contacts were greasey and grimey from Engine bay grime. A good wire brish I was on my way all solved. Original battery case is now obselete and wanted to protect the battery. So fitted this today and chuffed with the quality and look , also keeps the crap away from the contacts !!! Good little bargain and tidys up the engine bay, make sure you check your battery size first though . £20 included delivery from Germany. Just got to get VW decal for it now to finish it off. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Batterieh%C3%BClle-Batterietasche-Thermotasche-Batterieschutz-Akkutasche-60-Ah/182867184364?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
17. I did mate I still have the old Bosch one in the garage , it is an absolute rip off the Bosch one for a rado my merc Bosch was only about £105 nippers new. Hope you sus out the issue but in doing so you are really performing a good health service to your motor and reliability.
18. MAS sensors are not cheap and Im a sucker for BOSCH parts if possible but I just went for JP Group, and by all accounts looks well made very happy with it its Danish and cost £65. Im changing the cat and exhaust soon and have a new Bosch lambada sensor , I reckon this will really finish off the smoothness of the engine. One thing many people over look is the recirculation system in late VR6 which incorporates a breather tube from the petrol fill cap area then onto the carbon canister which releases gasses to a light blue solenoid (connected to ECU has a socket and plug)located by the by the airbox , if the solennoid jams open this can also lead to some of your symptons. Also the PCV vavle, so many possibilties, but the way I see it are most of the parts are very old on the car so any part replacemnt for the car is a huge benefit and not fitted in vain. Be interested to hear what you discover after your investigation. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-JP-GROUP-Air-Mass-Flow-Sensor-1193902400-Top-Quality/192493486795?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
19. After changing the MAS, PCV Valve and hose, FPR , Cam Sensor , ECU and fuel pump relay and Crank sensor my car is starting great and running smooth, it had new leads and sparks last year alongside battery also getting a new starter next week as making an awful squeak sound on start up. However taliking about the ECU my car had a remap in 2003 in conjuction with a BCA air filter and Shrick VGI, not sure wether I need to got to Stealth and have it remapped as I have now fittd a Stock air box which does not suck in as much air also how much they would charge. Reckon an older car would benefit hugley from the injections having a professional clean. Have you had any error codes to do with mixture ?
20. Be careful using that German company off ebay ,I ordered some parts from these lot for my SL Merc it took about six or seven weeks, at one point I thought they would never come, look at their feedback for a start ??? They also trade under several different names. Heritage do original and some aftrmarket ones that are cheaper, personally I would only use an overseas company if it was the only option after my experience, nightmare sending something back if its damaged or wrong part sent out. These aftermarket ones are the same and the last digit of the part number is aftermarket but rest of the number is the same as stock VW, they should be on the Corrado parts list Because they are 226mm x 10mm same as Corrado , I have a set at home waiting to fit and Hertage confirmed they are the same . On special offer at the moment half price set £18 bargain !!!!! https://www.vwheritage.com/191615612dr-backing-plate-for-rear-discs-mk2-golfjetta-gti-88-92-right-vw-spare##
21. Thanks all managed to get the sensor in today had to put the O ring in the housing first and then it slid in fine with the plastic spacer another job off the list !
22. Bonus mine came with these all ready fitted.
23. The one side of the car was jacked up on the subframe and I just thought that it might of put some tension in that area , I'll get it up on a ramp and have a good look when I get the chance, the old one was really tough to pull out and was lodged in, to be honest I think the hole just needs a good clean of any pitting or muck , it is a very tight place to work in though so need a ramp really as have hands like a JCB Bucket. Also I have a new sump to fit so will do that at the same time .
24. It might be that that the surface of the housing has slight corrosion on the surface making it a tighter hole, at the moment the car seems to be working fine without the trim its still sticking in the same length as srew is flush, I think the plastic round trim just gives it a bit more support in the housing keeping it lodged , I will be revisiting it at a later date when I can get it on a ramp.
