1. Silly question but I jacked the car up when I changed it that wouldnt put pressure on the crank sensor housing would it making it hard to put the sensor in it ? Had the car up on one side a good eight inches as was installing some new 70 L stainless steel tank straps on at the same time.
2. Yeah I rubbed my finger round there and couldnt feel any debris the supicious thing was the old one was a real bugger to get out to and def got the old o ring out still have it, maybe there is a bit of casing left . Might well be that circle housing has distorted over time god knows Im a bit annoted with the whole thing to be honest , I was going to leave it to VW with other work I was having but they wanted 100 or so quid for labour, they must have mystic meg working for them ha !
3. Thanks for the reply was it an original VW part you used with the plastic surround trim same as picture ? Cheers.

Wow fairplay that does sounds one hell of a mint car and that !
5. Hi all, VR6 Rado Today I had a bit of a nighmare changing the crank sensor. The Alen bolt came off fine and I thought this seems easy but then it took me about an hour to get the old one off it was an aftermarket part and all black and plastic. The surround of the sensor broke off in the round housing but I eventually managed to wingle it out with much effort and grief. I fitted a VW part 021906433A but it wouldnt go in to the housing fully and was on the slant when doing up the bolt because of the black plastic circle trim that sits between the brown O ring and end of the circilar metal made it impossible to go in and when doing the bolt up would make the sensor slant towards the bolt side . In the end I just put the sensor in without the plastic round trim/ spacer but with only the brown rubber O ring. P.s the black circular trim came off the sensor easily it just pulls off with ease. Question is has anyone else encounted this problem ?? , I have attached a picture of the part. Im quite worried about taking the plastic trim off hope its goint to be ok couldnt see no oil leaks after starting the engine. .

Yeah I know what you mean I cant stop buying parts for mine it addicitive ! I was even looking at a new power steering reservoir earlier and expansion tank which is no longer available from what I can see. Was also driving today and there is slight hesitation and judder in second gear in low revs so sort of thinking did the last owner buy some substandard plugs and leads he fitted a couple of years back , more than lightly and more exspense ha !

It is ashame its very lucrative business there is a company that strip R129 its all they do and for a panoramic removable roof they ask for £2500 well it was only a 2 k option from the factory new. Personally I will always look for new part if possible first as there is no guarantee of a good life span of a second hand part. Also as we all know the 2.9 engine block is desired for resale alongside the leather interior.

You can look at the website and it shows each quater what is sorn and there is no major difference in number of vehicles sorn in the winter and miles from half Sean. I think its good for a car to breath after storing cars, car covers etc and the lack of use because all the crap you have to do to get them out just for a drive. Also there are some really nice sunny days in the winter and enjoy a drive out. I use aqa wax and keep the car clean and never take it out in around salty roads, i aslo have under wax oil.

Yeah you need the right guy to do the job for sure, Ive taken mine to a specialist and he said the spray job was actually really professional and all good. When I first saw the car it had solid mud under the arches the lad lived in flats and didnt really look after the car to be honest and got a few other dinks and dongs from mutiparking at the flats. The refresh is good as you can get it to a point that your happy with the overall standard of the car and afterwards just repair something when it happens, also if selling you have good documentation as evidence you have been a good custodian of the car.

Well most of the ones I see off the road Sean in the UK are rotting on a driveway , however yes there are some owners that will Sorn it over the winter but personally I wouldnt be arsed to sorn a vehicle for 6 months for that small savings of money

It is difficult for some owners as you can have a bad run of major faulures and just end up cutting your losses. My Rados last owner had a spray job four years ago, in the last couple of years Heater matrix . timing chains and a new radiator and was also fitted with a Shrick VGI and black leather interior and sunroof + spoiler working perfectly so I thought it was a good honest car to spend some money on. At the end of the renovation including body work as the rear arches are starting to blister !, complete new supension and all bushes and mounts on car, new catalitc and Milltek Catcback, new sump , oil cooler, tank straps. discs pads and backing plates . 5 or 6 sensors and plenty of other bits and bobs, my outlay with purchase will be up to 8k and more I imagine and that is MK4 R32 territory. Lucky for me Im a sucker for the Corrado box design . Just popped on some splitrim anniversary BBS wheels for her yesterday and tyres would of rather original silver but came with gunmetal centers still like them though happy with the look. Good question below is a link to a website called how many cars left. its linked to the DVLA and will tell you what is sorn and taxed in the uk of each brand of vehicle. I do think the Corrado is now at the turning point that in the next 5 years where the only ones left will be the cherished ones and will enter the true status of a modern classic. I also have an R129 SL that is at this stage now to. However the classic car market is not doing that great at the moment but I own my motors as a bit of a hobby more then anything and messing around in the engine bay of course. From what I can see there is 901 VR6 on the road and 1118 that are sorn , each year there is an average of a 100 extra VR6 getting sorn so a 100 less on the road each year. I imagine alot of the sorn ones will be rust buckets, catastrophic engine failures, eventually broken or absolutley modified to oblivion and wrecked. There is 30 million cars in the Uk so 902 is not a lot of vrs. https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/

Yeah but I imagine most end up in a breakers as worth more in parts if its a damaged one therefore no longer on the road.

The large majority would be cat accident free as insurance companies would rather write them off due to a lack of body parts and because of valuation.
16. Sorry to intrude but I would like a red or silver for front what ever is available. Cheers.

Resistor Pack

Thanks Sean managed to repair today after 30 mins of fetling with the copper surroung and needle. P.s the resistor number is correct what I posted above for a late VR^ Corrado. Cheers.

Resistor Pack

I do have a hunch like you said it will be a poor contact on setting 2. So you pull the dial off and does the front fascia trim of the dials just pop out if you wedge it off with flat screwdriver ? Cheers.

Resistor Pack

Hi thanks for the reply but the fan motor is new and the scuttle panel and inlet is clean its only setting 2 that is not working. If that part number is incorrect for a late 95 VR6 I cant seem to find the correct part number ?? Its wierd because on oempec it has late and early as the same part number??? Cheers

Resistor Pack

Hi , My fan speed setting is not working on setting two. The resistor pack has been repaired four times by the last owner in the last couple of years and I would like a new one. The part number is 536959263 and of course been a Rado is now obselete. After surfing through a few pages on here alot of people saying the aftermarket one off ebay did not fit. Has anybody purchased or sourced a resistor pack that is a straight fit that works. Could it be something else that is causing No2 fan speed not to be working and to be investigated first. Thanks In advance. He fitted a new fan motor last year it wouldnt be something silly like the fan has only 3 settings would it ? Link below off ebay says this part fits ? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FEBI-BILSTEIN-Heater-Blower-Resistor-19024/192712801699?epid=249587357&hash=item2cde93fda3:g:tW8AAOSwT-pb31Ye:rk:10:pf:0
21. So did I last month from VW International and it was cheapr then the one at Ford with discount .
22. What is Kip asking for his car that has been on sale for a while by the sounds of it. I rarely see a good VR6 come on the market all the ones I viewed needed a complete going over.
23. He will mean the red hand of the dials. Just to let you all know I was looking at the binnacle trim today as mine is snapped in the corner and on ebay some people were asking £40 plus for a tatty looking old one, it so goes that you can still get an original one new for only £21 plus postage from VW Heritage classic parts !
24. Trust me Ford parts for the VR6 are no longer cheap Ive tried all ready in the form of Pcv valve, I think the Rado crowd purchased most of them all ready ha! Still worth looking though just incase.
25. I took your advice lads and got three new mounts on order , couldnt get VW parts as obselete but ended up getting a variety of Febi, JP Group , didnt fancy the Meyle set but Im sure they are good, prob all identical to be honest made in China then stamped for differnet manufacture that is the way its going these days. It would of been ashame to have not of replaced them if doing the rest of the suspension. I will have a fair few bits of bobs to sell once complete and will post on here when the time comes. P.s PFNSHT I am now in possesion of rear eibach springs EW8502002HA which are a lot longer then the originals I will let you know how they fit.
