Another update: My latest purchase, my Corrado VR6 arrived this morning on the back of a lorry. The weather was crap but I decided to start on sorting out the car as I couldnt resist seeing it on the drive without doing something with it! I knew when I bought the car that it had an electrical fault, so I thought the best plan of action was to remove the whole interior to see if there were any hidden surprises. I already knew some of the wiring had been cut behind the dash but it was slightly worse than I was expecting. I removed a bag full of stereo wiring from the boot, under the seats and inside the door cards!! The interior was very messy and as luck would have it, I bought exactly the same interior a couple of months ago in perfect condition, so out with the old, in with the new. Progress so far: Wiring thats no longer needed, including the Clifford alarm: Interior out: And the mess in my conservatory(again): I ended up putting the alloys off the 2.0 16v in for refurb and they will be ready to collect this week. So I will update this thread once I collect the wheels and get on with sorting the VR's wiring. I have a list of parts that I need if anyone can help: VR6 engine cover to replace my broken one, VR6 wiring loom for the dash(complete), A,B anc C pillar drivers side in Black, A pillar passenger side, Black boot floor carpet, Corrado scrip badge, Both Parcel shelf supports in black and finally- an original gear knob Any help is appreciated. Cheers. :) -
I had the new VR dropped off this morning and have already ripped out the interior, but due to a previous electrical fault, someone has cut most of the wiring behind the dash!! All the wiring needs to be replaced ideally. Even the stereo cables1 Does anyone have any of the wiring/complete wiring for the dash, im assuming it will be the same as a 16v or 8v? Im in quite a hurry for the wiring as id like to get the dash back in. Also looking for these parts; VR6 engine cover to replace my broken one, A,B anc C pillar drivers side in Black, A pillar passenger side, Black boot floor carpet, Both Parcel shelf supports in black and finally- an original gear knob. Let me know what youve got please. Thanks. Rob.

Sure about that?

Yes. I have a K&N filter in my 2.0 16v with a drilled airbox, but noticed no increase in performance compared to the standard air filter tbh. But im sure it does help it breath better overall.
-
Basically the easiest way to gain any power is to drill the air box on the wing side, as you cant fit an induction kit due to the components sitting on top of the air box itself. And then possibly fit KR cams from a 1.8 16v corrado, doing these two mods is about the only easy power gain that you will get from the 2.0 16v. Obviously fitting the cams will cost a few quid if you get a garage to do the work. A pair of KR cams should cost you about £40 to buy, although you only need the cam on the exhaust side I believe? Drilling the air box can be done by yourself with a set of hole saws and will also give your car abit more growl.

Here's how mine sits on my 2.0 16v:

Got the cams? I'd be interested in these if available? Rob.

I like your thinking.......:)

I replaced my Lambda/oxygen sensor the other week for one from a golf mk2, its the same sensor! Im pretty sure it was from a 2.0 16v golf mk2 and it cost me £5 second hand. It will hopefully save you a good few quid if you can find one. Buying new is better obviously, but to try and eliminate the problem maybe a working second hand one will be a cheap option to try?

Lift the boot carpet and you will see a cover with 3 screws, undo the cover and unclip the pipes and wires, undo the large plastic nut which seals the fuel lines into the tank and once undone the whole assembly will lift out. But the actual fuel filter is under the car near the drivers side rear wheel.

Unplug the 'engine coolant sensor' located under the distributor when the problem occurs and see if it helps the situation. This sensor is known for causing similar problems to what you describe, and has been the root of the problem with my last two 2.0 16v's, once replaced(£6) it made a world of difference. Hope this helps.

8v's are rare now buddy. What is the milage on yours i wonder? I still havent seen any pics of yours I dont think? send me a link:)

Well the two I own havent been on the road for 3 years, both sorn, but are both roadworthy if I had the money to mot,tax and insure them! Id imagine there are quite a few corrado owners like me. I use my other car as a daily driver and the Corrados are parked up ready to go when I can afford it. They look good on my drive for now though. :)

Looks really good mate. Im currently removing the insulation under the bonnet on the 2.0 16v as its just crumbling! Where did you source your replacement foam from if you dont mind me asking? I should have my VR6 project home next weekend and would imagine I will need to re-do the insulation on that aswell! This could get expensive,Haha. Good work though bud. :)

Theres more than 8 VR6 storms on the road!

Saw one in my neck of the woods yesterday. I was in my work van and got a crappy picture on my phone, I felt like a real stalker! J reg G60, looked nice and clean, heading from Carew and turned off at Canaston Bridge. Is it someone on here that owns it? J250 OPK

Put some pics up of your car with the new wheels job705. The fuses are located in the drivers side lower dash, undo the two 1/2 turn fixing screws and pull them out, then pull that section out from the dash. All the fuses are there. Thats if its the same as my car!

Slow progress recently, but I managed to tidy up a few bits that have been on the list for a while. Now that the better weather is here im going to make some good progress over the next few weeks. I wanted to tidy up the engine bay as it was covered in oil and grease, and the airbox and some of the plastic trim had discoloured, so I removed some items to clean them, painted some of the plastic trim, and degreased the engine with 'Gunk'! Im really suprised at how tidy the engine looks now, and theres not a splatter of oil or grease anywhere to be seen. Next job is to remove the sound insulation on the bonnet as its all crumbling: And get together the other interior trims to swap the interior over, i still need the a,b,c pillars, black carpets etc. My attic is starting to look like a spare parts storeroom: And oh I nearly forgot to mention I won another Corrado on ebay lastnight, it needs abit of work but overall I think its another bargain: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/130700129496?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 :) -

Has the immobiliser been disturbed possibly? Have you checked that all the relays on the fuse board are pushed fully into place, aswell as checking all fuses?
