  2. Your a star mate. Thought it was. Now for micro surgery. I will put an arrow on the picture when I have time. Thanks.
  3. Now with arrow of offending bit. I have a few spare if anyone wants to have a go. Thanks mrbeige.
  4. First click of switch puts only sidelights on with the new loom.
  5. http://www.onboarddiagnostics.co.uk/onl ... x2_adapter This might help
  6. Just fitting a Walbro pump from Stealth. The adaptor ring does make it sit high as Kev says. I have put a short length of pipe on the inlet to take the opening down to the same level as Std. Anybody see a problem with that?! Ta.
  7. The Guy in Dundee selling this doesn't accept anything other than wire transfer. Very risky unless of course you meet him. Probably totally sincere but I wasn't prepared to take that chance. A new one was only a few hundred more anyway!
  8. Just waded through the supercharged VR thread and now this..........AAAAH, too many toys!! Must have :D
  9. Pleasure :) If you would like the number for my body shop chap let me know.
  10. lj16v.....Just confirm the engine isn't turning over when you turn the key. A few red herrings starting to appear
  11. Welcome to the 'hot VR club'. Seems a few have this problem, mine included. If I think I am going to have problems starting on a hot day I park on a slope and use the rolling car to nudge the engine while turning the key. Works every time suggesting the solenoid is stuck inside the starter motor. A new battery seemed to help as it gave more of a kick to the solenoid. Coil pack, Lambda forget as the engine isn't even rotating. Ingition switch is a good one to change if old, and cheap to do. Good luck!

    Whats this?

Mark the position of the rotor as well, noting where the timing marks are on the crank pulley. Helps a lot when assembling it all back together ref the firing order of the HT leads. Just my experiance.......... :D
  13. I am in Redhill if thats any good?
  14. If it's broken you will have the mother of all air leaks bypassing your throttle body!
  15. On the subject of Lambda, what is the difference between 'adaption limit and 'Control limit' not reached? Got code 00537 coming up every time I check Vag-com after clearing the fault code. Lambda sensor hunting around .86. Usually fine at 1.0. Ta, search is not too conclusive :?
  16. Mine does this when hot. If I rock the car in gear it releases something and the starter kicks in. Park on a hill in the hot weather now! Has to stand for a while for the 'problem' to manifest itself. Only happens in ambient temp of 25C or above. I have checked the feed from the switch and all is fine. I can hear a click when I turn the key. Suspect the starter motor has a flaw in it. On the second one and still there.?????????
  17. Now I have found it I have moved it there
  18. Just changed my 'Fan Belt' at 85k (well past it!) Dealers wanted £23.50 for it but have found a local place that will do them for £15 for orders of 15 or more. If anyone is interested give me a shout. I don't have aircon but I am sure they will do the same deal for those who do. They are 5mm longer than std but the tensioner has taken care of that. This will probably end up in group buy but wanted to start off here!
  19. Worth a try :) Sorry gaz they are front. :(
  20. If I can just sneak this in............if you have a VR I have some used Black Diamond Disks you can have plus Ferodo DS2500 pads.......sneak out.....

    Oil pressure

The oil strainer in my old Mk2 Golf used to clog up. Regular changes cured it.
  22. Leave the hydraulic pipe attached unless you intend to change the slave. There is enough flex to move the unit around to see inside. It is attached with two bolts going into the bell housing. Undo those and slide the slave away. You will see a rod coming out of the unit with a rubber gaitor around it which stops crud getting into the unit. It is that gaitor on mine which had interfered with the rod jamming it into the unit. A new unit was the cure, been fine ever since. Hope it was the shelf!!
  23. Had this years back. Slave cylinder rubber gaitor was jamming the release rod. Changed, ok. You have to take the slave cylinder off to check, simple job.
