Don't talk to me about insurance at the moment!!!!!!!

Why not plastic though? I've heard that there are people developing an entire plastic engine! Surely the low torque improvement in the Golf TB is compromised by the loss of torque higher up. Depends what you want it to do really.

Cheers mate :) Will post back with some results....

Anyone know if the wheels on Danilo's C.... http://corrado.atx-hosting.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=187 ....are still available to buy? Probably cost an arm and a leg even if they are still available!

I don't quite share your hatred of the C interior Kev. I think it's pretty well put together and as far as driving position goes, I think it's superb. Everything within easy reach and plenty of comforts. I have a few niggles though such as the window switches not sitting flush with the trim. Headlight switches breaking (not mine yet though - touch wood!). I just think in general that the interior is a nice place to be! :)

Good post - thanks Steve. I'll put it in Common Questions and we can reference to it. Cheers

Well....... One word....'WOW'! Had some pretty good responses to my insurance hunting, generally around the £1k to £900 mark. Then Adrian Flux manages to quote me £720!! Bit of an improvement over the £1,200ish last year! Fully Comp. No huge excess. The usual added extra's. Mods can be added for £25 fixed charge when you notify them. I am definitely a happy bunny :)

Coming from someone that posted the "save up" comment, I thought I'd add a few pence to the pot...... I've just read your wanted ad' and have to say that if you're looking at a VR for around £6k, and know what to look out for then you shouldn't have too many problems! Things can be expensive when they go wrong and they can also be just plain irritating ie door handles, sunroof, spoiler motor, headlight switch. Most of them can be avoided as well though which is why buying a C from someone that's cared for the car is one of the most important things. Once you get one, you won't look back!

I hear some of the Top Gear boys are over on the Isle of Man very shortly. I assume they'll have some cars and shut part of the TT course - probably the mountain road. Though I've no idea what they're driving.
-
I didn't have the key in either the new barrel or in the old barrel and I had no problem at all, hence my advice above omitting this little detail. Guess I may have just been lucky/careful (not saying that others weren't careful).

One of the small disadvantages of living over here Andi! £500 for CAT 1  It's either that or get the boat over but then that's gonna be about £200 return! Will try Flux last - cheers.

Going well cheers matey :) Barclaycard is not one I've ever thought of using - might look that up, cheers. ------------- Got a quote from HIC (after mentioning the mags, clubgti, ccgb, the Isle of Man TT (which he said counted!), The golf, PVW etc etc) for £1,100. One drawback is that, despite living on Fraggle rock where car crime is non-existent, that I had to have a CAT 2 immobiliser. Phoned a local company on the off-chance and it turns out that they are the only IOM company that are insurance approved, and they will fit a Meta CAT 2 for £180. May as well get this done for a bit of peace of mind, plus it probably gives me a wider choice of insurance Company's to get quotes from. Best thing is that with HIC, you can do anything to the car and unless you go over a 10bhp increase, there's no extra charge! Woohoo! Gonna keep plugging away and try and get the quotes below £1k though!

Yeah I was thinking that as well after I posted. Too near bedtime for sensible thinking! I was just thinking it looked a bit messy but I can see that it's probably more useful to keep. Just ignore me :)
-
Can we also do away with the inside km ring?
-
I fancy HIC for a good quote actually Darren - never tried them but fingers crossed! Aye Andi, I think I'll check whether they like mods (bit of a double meaning there!) beforehand! Don't think Effalump like mods do they? Mine's due at the end of October, so I have a bit of time to play them against each other first

You teach us physics Nigel and we'll sort you on the English mate ;)
-
Yeah that would be good, if they are willing to do that. Not too sure if you can then insure the package at it's proper value, once it's marked as 'sample' or 'gift' or what have you. Seems like a good group buy possibility though. Do you want confirmations in here or are you going to start a new thread?
-
Sounds good Andi - might be in on that.....depends how my insurance hunt goes!! Don't forget possible customs charges though......
-
Top-man Dazzy! Cheers.

I'm off out soon (and I'm being lazy!) so can people post me some insurance company's phone numbers. Going to do it on work time tomorrow of course ;) Particularly after the likes of HIC, Liverpool Victoria, Brentacre, Adrian Flux etc. TIA
-
I'm sorry you're not getting much response to this mate. Maybe you'll have more luck if I put this into 'Interior' forum.
-
How about a C Forum sticker then ;) Gonna shift this to General now.
