i still use dos in xp (well xp's dos) for ipconfig etc. and at work with writing java classes, there is a dos element. i genuinely enjoy programming though, have done for 20 years + i left school in 1989, aged 16, failed all me exams. i get paid more than the teachers that told me i'd never amount to shit now.

or you are typing in a giant hex listing, and a section of the code is poorly printed / illegable . . . . poke 35899,0 was for infinate lives in jetset willy 6031769 was the "boot code" for manic miner (the early bug byte release) roots, i tell ya

ahh! the weight of the fat kid's head.

same as mine, about 8 weeks ago always had a fuelly smell on startup, that just got worse. where the 2 pipes meet the rail, the clips were so slack i could slide them back by hand. needless to say the leak was there. if the pipes are ok, just put new clips on. get the smooth type of hose clip (pipe clip - not jubilee). only cost a few cents from an auto spares shop

its worth a whole lotta pie. lol back to the hubs, when i do that big nut back up, do i just pull the wrench until my eyes bleed, or should i observe some sort of torque setting?
-
most programmers in their 30's all remember the old speccy/bbc micro/c64 days. it has given us roots. and jetset willy was a good game.

hahaha that aint me! if it was it wouldnt be a problem i would have sold the corrado to buy pie the brake pedal option is my best hope.

i work in IT also. you really need to be into it, to be of any use. personally i've into computers since i was nine or ten my mate had a zx81. i wanted one bad. but the factory near where my dad worked were manufacturing it's replacement. so right at the start of 82 i got a spectrum. and it went on from there! started typing in listings . . . now i'm a programmer i have had people work here under me, that have no concept of "dos", or using a computer without a mouse. and they only want to do the "fun" stuff (new techs, etc) to be good with computers, you need to know the full story. and to do that, you have to have a genuine interest.

cheers. and i'll bet the big nuts on the outer cv's are done up 10,000 foot pounds of torque too. the last one i undid was a strain. i looked like deirdre barlow having a difficult sh1t.

touche!!!

thats exactly the reception i get. the whole vag customer service in the uk needs a big fat injection of enthusiasts. theres tons of them out there. it should be pre-requisite for getting the job. in most other fields product knowlege (at at the least product interest) is required.

i have to change the front bearings in my c-vr6 in the coming weeks. do the outer cv joints just slide out? or do they have to be pressed out? (out of the old bearing i mean)
-
nice one!!! noisy bearings suck i had a front bearing on my mk2 golf get so noisy that it would make a thumping sound. so i thought "oh go on then, i'll replace you"

ST is STAFFORDSHIRE not STOKE-ON-TRENT in fact Stoke-On-Trent is a place in Stoke UPON Trent, which is in Staffordshire. Despite the innacuracy in the place names, the other information could be right. *edit nahh i'm talking crap. it says stoke on trent, because thats where the main sorting office is for the post.

its an internal seal that leaks the oil into the cap. just something that happens with age. my 16v mk2 did that. i'd wipe it out every once in a while. it ran fine the seal may be replaceable, but when i enquired at the time, no one i spoke to knew of a way of replacing it.

when i go into the local vw garage (a rare moment) they make me feel like the poor relative with my "old" corrado. they should embrace the enthusiast. or at least humour me. fuck em though. they are fucking cunts anyway.
-
well what i did was right then it seemed to make sence at the time. however it hasnt stopped hollywood contacting me to ask if they can use my car in chitty chitty bang bang 2
-
i filled mine with nuff carb cleaner let it soak for a bit it made sod all difference though. so maybe what i did wasnt right.
