  1. how about a mild 2nd gear bump start?
  2. saxos should be stripped out alright. stripped out of the country and sent back to france :-P
  3. when the alarm does that, its flat battery / poor connection (sometimes!!!) a good bump start will tell you whats wrong! hey it might even unjam the starter too! (if it is that!)

    Misfire in 1st

its probably just misfiring at low revs - sub 2000 you only really see sub 2000 in first. check the usual stuff - airflow sensor connections, lambda probe etc . . . . its a tough one to judge!!
  5. track them down and beat them like a ginger stepson
  6. it did that with me. must be an error with the board. maybe the board only works when it is revved to 9000 rpm go back to the portal and click on it, it's still there
  7. link no good bro, unless you're registed ***edit i have registered now hehe its top banter. TBH the civic type R is a pretty good car. and i dont mind getting heat from "CTR" owners. however if i was to stumble upon a SAXO forum with some KID with VTR saying "hey mister my saxo pisses on your corrado" then i would be more insulted.
  8. your dashlights come on? then it aint immobilised! if you get chirps and whines from the alarm, then that means the battery could be flat. does the alarm become "armed" after trying to start the car? try jump leads from another car. make sure your connections on the battery are all tight. and that the earth is good.
  9. make sure the hard-to-replace bits are in good working order by that i mean make sure the shell is good, and the interior is good. and all the electrics work ok. the engine is easily repaired, as is suspension and stuff (and you have to do that periodically anyway) make sure it doesnt leak water, get damp inside - get your hand under the carpets!! check the rear panel has it's sticker, the shut lines are good, and it has no signs of "major crash" i bought the first black VR6 i could find that was in good condition. had i browsed more, i could have maybe found a better one. but i am a bit of an impulse buyer
  10. i doubt it would go on a vr6. is there any of the big audis that would donate a throttle?
  11. does it crunch into second? if so, its the box i'm afraid. second gear always takes a mauling, as thats the gear you SLAM into when you are on a "power run" if it were the clutch, then 1st and reverse would suffer most.
  12. it made the car bananas. it was on the car back in 1993, and it didnt look new then. the car also had: twin square headlight kit vinyl roof kit nice. EDIT** i had thought the throttle body was off an Audi, or a porsche that had a similar manifold. i know a lot of the parts are interchangable i also know that 944 front wishbones are Mk1 golf wishbones.
  13. damn thats some bad luck on the plus side at least they broke in through the window, and not by prying the handle off. the most annoying thing is that you have only a 1 in 10000 chance of ever finding the culprits and issuing some "justice"

    Engine Noise

i havent done it yet. its rained every weekend, and i have no indoors space to work on my car :( i really need to change the oil too :( i'm a just have to get drenched :( :(
  15. i had a large throttle body on my first mk1 golf. it had one tennis ball sized chamber instead of 2 smaller ones. it made the car super fast, in conjunction with the modded head and cam. the speedo needle would go right round to the fuel guage!

    Engine Noise

mines done 150k too (well 149k) and it has some rattles. i think the main rattle is the timing chain on mine! hows your gearbox doing? is it crunchy yet? mine is :(

    Engine Noise

is it the timing chain? worn valve guides are indicated by oil usage. how many miles has it covered?
  18. it'll probably cost more than 8.50 to post them. they'd be heavy. and parcelfarce are expensive
  19. cool and as i always say - tight is right
  20. my jetex stainless exhaust has been ok so far. been in for 2 years now. just as quiet as the standard one too.
  21. i hit a cat once in my first mk1 golf as a cat owner, it was particularly unpleasant. the cat however got up and legged it. but it would have died as the drivers side wheel went over it. i felt that incident had brought bad luck on the car. 4 days later i hit a land rover. the driver's side wheel was pushed up to the bulkhead. i had paid my price.
  22. no wonder i couldnt see it then!!! is it accessable, without removing the exhaust?
  23. i like it. i bet it flies too. and it oozes street cred.
