whats the advantage in taking the cat off?
-
try the switch wire on the starter motor. sometimes gets filthed up. pull it off and see what it's like.
-
do some vw garages charge more than others? the lamda probe they sell was 85 + vat. is there another place i can get one cheaper?
-
i just called in at vw stafford they want 40 quid + VAT to hook it to the vag-com the guy at the desk said it may be too old to plug it in. i said " do what mate its only 10 years old!!!" to which he replied "cars have come a long way in 10 years" smarmy twat at that point they had already lost the business. and a new lamda is about 95 quid. doh

what country are you in?
-
i just phoned my local vw garage in stafford lol they "took my number" and will get back to me. yeh right, like they are going to call back. the people at my local have always been arrogant in the past, and they seem to have little or no product knowlege. the parts dept guy is fairly friendly (although he did tell that the r32 has 420 bhp, and that vw never made a corrado that cost more than 16K)
-
well i put it all back together, and it runs like shit still misfires up to 2000 revs. gonna have to take it to the dealer and see their vag-com thing can detect whether the lambda has died. will they charge me much just for a diagnostic?
-
i'll sling it back on tomorrow then. i hope cleaning this makes it all run better.
-
right i got it off, and filled it full of carb / choke cleaner it can soak for a bit. couldnt i just leave it off and plug up all the holes?
-
mine cuts out more often than the winner of a paper chain contest.
-
cheers fellas right then i will fetch the fooker off now and clean it. i might leave it off.
-
dont swing off the wrench when tightening. there probably is a torque setting (a very low one). but you shouldnt be able to physically feel play in them. you just get a feel for how tight they go.
-
lady owner is only a draw to other lady owners. to me it means price up a new clutch

on my mk2 golf my handbrake froze on one time. and that was in the UK. it had only been parked up for a couple of hours. get it to bits and have a look will be the only way to see whats wrong. whilst rocking it around you may have damaged the pad. get a new set on.
-
hehe sorry bud. it is a well fitted light, i cannot deny.
-
thanks mate. there is a ford garage right where i live. i'll swing past on the way home.
-

air leak? i just went and had a look under the bonnet there is this thing i noticed. its a pipe that leads from near the throttle, and joins at the rocket cover. its got a plastic flange thing at the rocker cover end. its snapped. the culprit? what does it do anyway?

I've managed to balls up my chance of owning a Corrado...
theRuler replied to Pat_McCrotch's topic in General Car Chat
i have full no claims bonus and yes it does affect your policy. i'm 31 and i got mates who have always been on company or friends insurance. come to buy their own policy and have to pay a fortune. for that 8v corrado, go third party only, and increase the excess. insurance is a bitch. but it has to be payed so you can drive the better car. when i was 20 i had a mk1 golf gti. third party only cost me 800 pounds. -
if i take it to the vw garage can they check for dodgy lambda with their vag com thing? i am very sceptical of the vw dealers. they charge so much yet know so little.
