Thanks Philly. I couldn't find the C488ADO thread, so that's appreciated. And its good to see the pics there too. I too modified the Golf harness and to be fair it wasn't too difficult with the guide, just time consuming. Incidentally what happened to his car? The last i remember KADVR6 (Karl) bought it..

There was a thread by Science (Neil) who put some excellent detail. Another one by Carrado (i think that was his username) with some great pics (i believe these will now have gone sadly). I'll try and dig those out and post up the links

JF your car,and developments you've completed, are really a top reference point. I would be delighted if mine was ever even 50% of yours

Its a tough one James. I have to say that going to OBD2 is one of the best mods I've done on mine. Better driveability, more things to read in vcds and the key thing the fear of stalling on dipping the throttle has gone. However, with a campaign, as you rightly say, the originality perhaps needs more consideration

Just a thought, the CP ecu has an immobiliser built in to it (like an obd2 ecu). Would it work to use the ignition halo ring in it, or perhaps an emulator? I assume it could then be used in place of other ecus, eg AG, B, etc

try opening the next page in a new tab, that usually works

Hi Neil, good to see you back here, its been a while. Whats happening on the Corrado front? I actually got a Golf 3 sunroof from Leo Burley, but need to now get hold of an octavia glass panel and a cream blind. That's further down the line, i need to strip this one down and grease it up properly first. Then the nice jobs after that!

Glad you had a painless sale Matt, I've certainly benefitted from your input like many others, and hope you stick around. Plans for new wheels?

Spot on Fender, it popped off with a large screwdriver. Cleaned up the horizontal channel and roller spindle, regreased both and refitted. Pressed the roller back in with pipe grips. Seems to be smoother now, although could just be psychological..
-
thanks for that, Fender. I'll give it a go again.

its been a while since i replaced mine last time, but how do you get the front roller off (nearer the door hinge)? i cant seem to get good enough access..
-
Thanks for the input. Sprayed the guides quite liberally with silicone spray but it didn't seem to improve much. Used some lithium grease on the rhs channel near the lock but that too didn't do much. It was hard to grease though, as access is limited. I'll check the cable, that could very well be the issue. And I'll see how things go once i manage to remove the glass...

This one again. D/S window is very slow when it goes up. Unscrewed the glass and checked the operation of the regulator. Nice and smooth (i greased the motor etc a few years back). The glass itself doesnt seem to move smoothly though. Tried moving it up and down by hand and if definitely seems to bind on the lock side of the door. And when connected there is some kind of click as it moves from fully down to about 1/3 the way up. Is there any way to remove the glass without taking the regulator out? Also, any ideas as to what it could be binding on? The yellow plastic cable guide at the top basically touches the glass and i cant seem to move it away. Tried using a piece of felt there but that came off after a few runs. Welcome any suggestions. Thanks

As Dox mentions, can you check the fuel pump relay ( numbered either 167 or 67) and the ecu relay (109)? Just apply a 12v source to them and ensure they close, and more importantly stay closed. If so then that will confirm their condition. Also check the connectors at the back of the fuse box - there is a plastic 'lock' bar that hold all connectors in place once seated. The connectors should all be in a line, and not protruding - if the latter, this connector is then loose. Just another thought - when it starts, what happens if you give it some gas to increase the revs? Does it still die or will it then continue running? Keep us posted on how you get on

Saw a beautiful j-plate turning onto the A40 at ickenham this afternoon. Darkish with some interesting non standard alloys. Looked like a g60, but saw it a bit late and was unable to read the badge at the back

I think its just the CP suffix ecus with the built in immobiliser, not AG, although those symptoms you describe are very much immobiliser type issues

Interesting article - Corrado is it a "sportscar" no but...

Any photos? Must have been fantastic to own. A friend had one back in the late 80s - we used to go for a blast at lunchtime: 6th form perks! -
Just to update here, many thanks Matt for the reference to Leo GS Burley. Bought one off him. Good guy to deal with, very well packed and in fact told me the one he had wasnt sliding back too well, so he waited for another good one before sending it out. Just need the Octavia glass now (thanks Dox), but I'll take my time to strip this mech down and lube it properly My interior is cream so the blind will need to be recovered. By the way, some years back someone posted up about a good paint colour match for the interior plastics - but no idea who it was and can't get the search to work very well either..any suggestions?

Well there seems to be a slight bit of light at the end of the tunnel, although I'll need to look into the retrofit technology: https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/new-scrappage-scheme-offers-london-drivers-£5000

Not sure which section to put this in, but some of us old timers will remember John Munyard from years gone by. Quite a witty chap and hugely knowledgeable on the Corrado, I know many, including myself benefitted from encyclopaedic understanding of our cars. I just read of FB that he has sadly passed away..

Mine was actually a small failure of the windscreen mounting adhesive. Water was dripping in through there about half way down the lhs of the windscreen. I've sealed it temporarily but am planning to have the screen removed and any rust repaired before refitting With regards moisture, I've always found the rear window heavily misted in winter in spite of using large moisture absorbers. I think its just because there is a huge amount of glass relative to the size of the car so it becomes condensation central! As an alternative to moisture absorbers, try scrunching up some newspaper or using a bucket of cheap rice in the back

Well the windscreen leak on mine meant that the soundproofing was soaked. Id made up some new pads with some mlv and closed/open cell foam. Decided to make up another foam piece to cover the raised profile in the rear and then stick the mlv on top. Just cut roughly with scissors but in the summer I'll do the other side properly with a knife. Carpet needs a good clean,, but again needs some nice weather to allow it to dry properly. The blue trim on the rear carpet piece ran and made a nice bluish green tracing on the edge. I hope it comes out..

Good to see you back EJ, you used to give some great input related to car audio (among other corrado areas). This build should be truly amazing - always liked the r36 and truth be known i wouldnt mind a CC or Passat with it. Knowing your attention to details with your interior builds, i'm sure this will also be superb

Its on the passenger side undertray and the thermocouple goes into the piping housing insulation in front of the evaporator. I think some cars (like yours) just had a sensor in the outlet duct. I was hoping someone could explain whether the new thermostat could be installed if at all..
