    Horn not working

Actually its a little rubber cap on the back of the horn. Mine was covered in paint primer so didn't recognise it. Anyway, sprayed some wd40 into it after unscrewing the cap plus sprayed some via the trumpet. Tried it again but not much of a result. Lets see how it is after an overnight soak or if its prob easier to just get new ones. I'm sure I've got some glaswegian blood somewhere...

    Horn not working

my horns have basically died. Took them out and there is just a weak honk from each. Not sure if they can be refurbed but are there any good loud horns anyone has used? Bought some for the Yaris which said they were low and high tone and 110dB but sounded pretty wimpy. Are these any good?: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/403197893860?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3D6a202567f8594d9d8baa67075ea7f1de%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D15%26sd%3D143964161692%26itm%3D403197893860%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380057&_trksid=p2380057.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3A2ecdf27b-68ed-11ed-a2f8-a6c611258531|parentrq%3A95c9cfaf1840aaf8ca8a2a6bfffc600a|iid%3A1 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/402893337897?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3D6a202567f8594d9d8baa67075ea7f1de%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D5%26rkt%3D15%26sd%3D143964161692%26itm%3D402893337897%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380057%26brand%3DFiamm&_trksid=p2380057.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3A2ecdf27b-68ed-11ed-a2f8-a6c611258531|parentrq%3A95c9cfaf1840aaf8ca8a2a6bfffc600a|iid%3A1 Or could these be fitted easily?: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/143964161692?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3D6a202567f8594d9d8baa67075ea7f1de%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D15%26sd%3D143964161692%26itm%3D143964161692%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380057&_trksid=p2380057.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3A2ecdf27b-68ed-11ed-a2f8-a6c611258531|parentrq%3A95c9cfaf1840aaf8ca8a2a6bfffc600a|iid%3A1 Thanks Hasan

    Seat recline broken

Thanks for that - I'm just afraid of breaking plastic bits and creating a new problem!

    Seat recline broken

Old thread - how do you remove the round seat recline knob? From the picture in the thread it suggests that there is some central screw, but i cant see how the centre can be accessed, it looks like a completely moulded piece. I've been around the inner disc with a jewellers screwdriver hoping that there was some release slot, but didn't find anything. Any suggestions?
  8. i love your garage - nice image on the wall too. Turntable is fantastic as is the floor covering. I'm not jealous....well maybe a little bit 🙂
  9. There's the bar Chris, and you just go and raise it ! I bet VW didnt pay an much attention when our cars were first made. Brilliant pics to go with that incredible work.
  10. Perhaps a silly suggestion, but are all the connectors behind the fuse box seated properly and is the locking bar in position? Also, are the wires going to the large red connector all ok? I had an issue with mine when I swopped out the autobox to a manual years back so i can't remember the connector or wiring unfortunately
  11. I'm struggling with getting first and reverse, plus 5th is also a bit crunchy. At present, reverse is 1st and first goes into third. I've adjusted the top cable and its almost all the way back towards the bulkhead, could go back a few mm more. What does the lower cable adjust? This has the sliding captive nut and can move a good 10mm. Thanks
  12. Mine have come loose slightly and have become irritatingly noisy as they stick and unstick. Any suggestions to fit these properly and permanently? Thanks
  13. I cut away some of the added insulation which was thicker than the standard insulation. This may have been stopping the cylinder from moving down properly (both drivers and passengers sides). Locking seems to be working ok now, but i'll update if there's any other issue. By the way, is the car meant to lock and unlock if you push down or pull up the drivers door pin? Mine has never done so. I recently checked and cleaned the two connectors in the door. I assume there is some limit switch that the lock plunger comes into contact with when using either the key or the keyfob? A while back i was looking to put in a switch on the dash or somewhere else that convenient to lock and unlock. i'd have to look at the wiring though.. Thanks
  14. You never know John, dont give up just yet. Sometimes these things take a bit longer than expected.. Hasan

    Ulez emissions

I've noticed a huge increase in EVs generally, and it seems the official statistic is 1,000,000 now. So if the objective is to improve air quality by substitution there should be an easy enough algorithm to calculate the benefit which MUST be near to a 'health' target. So expanding ulez really shouldn't be necessary. And not everyone can afford to buy an EV anyway
  20. No problem at all. Yes i think that looks like the right one. I've got the other connector in my car so couldnt say for sure as the pump i have is the 1H0 as opposed to 357 pump Many thanks Hasan
  21. Sure, its the connector to fit the socket in this central locking pump
  22. Great result. How long did that take from start to finish? Btw, do your indicators flash orange? I used some high powered orange leds in mine and they're very borderline. Mine are also tinted red.

Thanks Matt. Yes tried posting about the central locking pump issue. It was deleted instantly. Tried again, same result, third post was to ask if there was an issue with my posts....and of course deleted instantly again. Dropped a note to Yan (Yandards here?) as he's one of the admin so maybe he'll come back with a solution
  24. Joined this recently but my posts all seem to get deleted for some reason? Any ideas? Maybe its a way of saying they don't want me there..???
