    we all like our cars for different reaons, personally, I dont actually like the attention, as funny as it sounds, I like that it is fast and comftable really. £2.6k, thats steep but as long as you enjoy it, moneys there to be spent right!

    Yea, true, I was just being reserved, come to think of it, I would think a new Astra hatch is probably as good as a 316! LOL, and I would defo prefer a Honda, prob even a Toyota or Nissan if you are looking at reliability and build quality. LOL. I do quite like that little compact td, the one with 150bhp and 250ft lb of torque, and of course 330D/M3/330 CI. :lol:

    please dont tell me his 3 series is an e36? Gees, IMO opinon a modern golf/mk2 focus are as well made as a BMW 3 series!

    I'm starting to think maybe this guy has deeper psychological problems, maybe you should ask him how things are at home? is his wife having an affair? or maybe he's not satisfying her? was he abused/bullied as a child? Im just imaging his face when you ask him? LOL.

    Yep, sounds like a typical mornoic BMW driver, he would rather have a clapped out entry level BMW then a top spec of a different car that is far superior in every way, he is obviously seriously deluded if he thinks he has a cool car, and you have a C 16v at 19!!

    Yea was thinking of putting a bid in, but to be honest, I am looking for something with a bit more ooomph if you know what I mean, bet that would go down like a shi* sandwich if I emailed the seller that! and buy it now for £6k? sounds a bit cheap? :D

    I agree, my advice as VR owner would be, take it easy with the throttle in 1st gear, ease it down so about half way down by 2k and give it full throttle at3k, then change up about 5.5k. 3rd gear is where you will take him out, 3.5-5.5k it's game over! LOL.

    from an enthusiast point of view that sounds great, but from a financial point of view, sounds like a lot of money... should be a nice little project tho.

    I don't think you should get too bogged down with the actual power figures, what about the torque and how it is produced? It doesnt matter if you up the power in the G40, 5th gear is still the same, so 125mph will be screaming the nuts off it. and even in the G60, 125 in a VR =about 5.5k so thats a bit higher then cruising speed IMO.

    If they are quoting you for new parts then that is quite feasible, I know an m.o.t place around Orpington are pretty lenient when it comes to m.o.t time if you like! You won't get much for it without the m.o.t, someone will just use that as amunition to haggle you down.

    Either way, it won't look as good as it does in the pics, I would have no qualms about buying a Ford tho, I dont care about badges, the Focus is better than a MK4 Golf IMO.

    Nice selection, possibly one of the best engineered engines ever IMO. And its good it takes a bit more input to get the best out of it, unlike a VR! You have to mod it further tho!

    Damn, I have to get one of those babies, 996TT and remapped I think, LOL. So what was the handling like??

    yep, the states will be looking to buy oil from europe, which is going to hit us even harder. And the price of energy generally speaking is high which has a knock on effect for petrol. I think a lot of the petrol companies in the states are probably just putting up the prices in view of trying to scare monger people and make a quick buck, but oil has gone up.

    give it a full service and you should see an extra 5mpg, I did. I do 100 miles a day and the VR is better suited for these longer journeys, the most I have ever had is 38mpg on this journey!! the lowest is 25, usually get about 33 depending on traffic. It's funny how people often ask about different corrado mpg's when in fact, there probably isnt that much of a differenc as you would have thought.

    sorry to hear that Baron. Reminds me of a funny time I went to a friends in bristol, and as I was drinking, got the coach, I asked one of the drivers "Excuse me, whens the next coach to London" and he replied in a really thick Bristol accent. "Well yerr a pedantic bastad aint ya" I was so shocked, I just laughed, still chuckle to myself about it to this day. So you sorted your hire car out? I drive all of those type cars in the company pool, the Focus is nice.
