  1. the tvr interior looks a bit ott, but again who cares as long as you(the owner ) likes it.
  2. Din't know they did a 5 door cupra!? it's a bit more sporty then the mk4 but build/ride quality trade off. yea x reg and after is KO3S I think. you might as well get the forge tip aswell, especially if you remap it.
  3. OK fair do's, take a visit to blue flame and put a panel filter on it and you will not know it's a diesel! LOL. The 150 1.8t remaps almost as well as the 180 anyway, just make sure it's a KO3S turbo, have you considered an Ibiza Cupra? with the remap, exhaust, air filter & TIP you are looking at over 200+bhp if you get an x reg or later, there only about £5k+ too!
  4. I can't believe they said they didn't like your interior! and I think yuor wheels look lovely, suit the car very well. 8)
  5. I would still go with a mk4, even tho the A3 prob looks slightly better. For the price of a 130 a3 tdi, you could get a 150tdi golf. For the price of a 150 1.8t a3, you could prob get a 180 1.8t Golf. I take it you have not been in a remapped 150tdi golf then? Trust me, you will like it.
  6. can't say I've ever gone down the chav route really, although I did stick an ashley exhaust on my 205 1.9, I had an excuse that the orginial exhaust was blowing anyway, with the piper x filter, it sure as hell made some noise! LOL, way too noisy for my liking, anything over 3k was just verging on ridiculous. I also put one of those widget air valve things on (not the power boost valve) and it made another strange noise on top of all that!
  7. it is a fair price for a specialist mechanic like that, it's a pretty big job. Corrado VR6 engines aren't cheap the 2.84mo engine is much cheaper, but also much more parts required for the transplant. I get a friend of mine to do all this kind of work anyway, much cheaper.
  8. I had a mk2 golf td, I didnt know it was only 55bhp! fair bit of turbo lag and very agricultural but great little motor, 205 TD slightly better tho all round IMO.
  9. 4th gear is favourite in my VR, but 3rd is more useable. I reckon from a rolling start I would give a Pulsar a good run for it's money! assuming we are both standard of course.
  10. no, that is a common misconception, if it is serviced correctly, it will be reliable, it's only because so many boy racer chacracters don't know how to modify an engine the correct way, or they will just try and save money, but of course, its a false economy.
  11. The cams have 7 different numbers on them, I think it is something to do with the precision engineering of them, and another really cool thing is, if you look at the cams, they have mini VW and audi rings logos on them! You doing all this work yourself?
  12. they are fast but remember the Nissan 200 runs a detuned version of that engine! it is a very good engine. Also, the GTIR will lose more power thru the transmission because it is 4wd, where as the 200 is RWD.
  13. Auxillary is just something minor like a fan belt. The problem with the chains, although I think they are very good as they are stronger then belts, is that it is very difficult to tell when it will break, where as with belts, you can see the wear on them. I wouldn't worry, my VR has done 142k, so a tad more then yours! If you are concerned, run a compression test, that will tell you how strong your engine is.
  14. I'm actually changing valv seals, guides, stretch bolts and gaskets at the moment, a friend of mine will be doing the rest tho as I haven't done this before, I have some pics. Check the post I put up.
  15. Yea, I might have to show thins guy how it's done, I will have all new valve seals and oil change by then, maybe I will chuck out the spare tyre and parcel shelf for good measure and just have it 1/4 full with petrol!. There was a 300bhp IHI Ibiza Cupra R on ebay the other day too! bet that was fun. If I go jap, I will be getting a Nissan 200, certainly not an FTO.
  16. not being pedantic but I think an FTO V6 figures are quicker then a G60? anyone got a copy of EVO lying around? It's all very well putting calibra turbos in crappy little corsas, but he probably needs bycycle clips for the corners! LOL
  17. I do like the exhaust note of the FTO V6 just not really the engine note, which is probably more important. Just be careful what CTR's you race, remember the 290bhp n/a one that was posted here recently? that sounded mental.
  18. Good idea veedub, I will see if I can get it on my phone camera!
  19. Yea, exactley my thoughts Jim, the other thing that backs up my opinion is his ridiculous exagerations and a few other things he said, LOL, I just said "Lets just agree to disagree" I'm going to go back there next week with a copy of EVO and show him the figures, ooh I'm looking forward to seeing his reaction when he sees the figures!
  20. This backward mechanic character I was chatting to today told me this!? LOL. Now I really couldn't care less what cars are faster/slower than mine, but when he told me the mivec a)Redlines at 9k (from my memory, only an S2K revs that high) b)Hits 60 in 4.5! Slight exageration!! He said it was an import, and I just smiled cos Ias far as I'm aware, there all imports!
  21. Just took a few pics of my VR today as we were about to take the head off to change the valve seals, guides, gaskets and stretch bolts
  22. would be very close I think. certainly not a spanking.
  23. samm_cvr6

    how low?

I don't know what roads you guys drive on, but in Kent there are pot holes anywhere, I'm reluctant to have any drop at all!
  24. U didnt see it Baron? It was a 1004bhp Supra thats what! LOL. LHD tho.
  25. think the mk5 gti is quoted as 6.9 in DSG form and the R32 is 6.6, so according to EVO figures anyway, it is quickest.
