  1. Can't say I really like it, or even the MK4 R32 even tho it will probably have cult status in a few years, as weird as it feels to say, there's too much competition out there for it, I would go for the Astra VXR and save a few grand.
  2. Oh dearie me, what a ridiculous mod, these zipped upheaps of crap are everywhere in Kent and I bet they all start buying this stupid thing. I do really like the sound of the turbo whistling down as you lift off the throttle tho.
  3. yep. it is a nice feeling alright, especially when she's been off the road for a stint. Just changed the gasket on mine as it was running rough, £35 all in! I saw one today when I was driving a passat TDI and thought, "that looks lovely", oh yea, i've got one... :-)
  4. anyone know, incidentally, why some C's have red VR badge(mine) and some are silver? I'm assuming the later ones only are silver? L and on?
  5. I'm all for being eccentric and different, that is a lot of things, but it ain't cool, maybe funny tho.
  6. just thinking, the last Cerbera V8 I saw sounded pretty damn good too, crackle and pop, brilliant. Think that the fuel getting burnt thru the exhaust or something? maybe as it hasnt got 4 valves per cylinder.
  7. nah, don't have any unfortunatley, think it would look good with standard lights and just put coilovers with black 17s, nice!

    Blues?

I would love to see you try and drive that blue one on our uk roads, god knows how much damage would be done to it. Another excuse to move out there then.
  9. lol, yea! "I don't see no-one else here"

    Blues?

wow, blue is looking very nice but think I prefer that purple one. Better than any on the uk side tho?? You can so tell thats the states, the streets look so clean, like lego land!
  11. I prefer the sound of a VR to any 4 pot, even a scoobie, but thats just me. One of the ferraris has to be number one, have seen plenty of lambos but usually on the kings road going 5mph, even then it was like thunder! It won't be a popular one here but an nsx-r screaming up to the red line sounds pretty amazing.
  12. ha ha! you have to leave it on for a bit, atleast you have an excuse you didnt put it there. just watch everyone gawp.
  13. Have you bought that already out of interest?
  14. I just got 38.5! on a 10 mile trip, I was grannying it admittedly but took it to 5k in 1st and 2nd once. And that was using normal total unleaded, not bp/shell stuff. The 150PD is undoubtedly very good but has mixed reviews, a lot of people prefer the 130 because it is more flexible with the torque, but a remapped 150 you can't argue with. I'm really hankering after a 2003 330d tho, remapped it has 400ft/lb and is supposed to be on another level.
  15. would love a go on that! looks brilliant. would need some bycycle clips for the trousers tho. And looks like they nicked the handle bars of some kids trycycle!
  16. aha, I guess mine will go down more aswell as will be 25 when next renewel comes round.
  17. wow, you got insured on a VR for £375? what company? Mine went fown from £880 to £819 so not complaining either, just a bit puzzled that there is not a system that all insurers share. But trying to put a C in group 20 is taking the p**s, that should be kept purely for supercars.
  18. why don't you write up a thread about your trip to nz Henney? It's a place I really want to go so would be interesting to read others opinions on whats good/bad for when I eventually go galavanting.
  19. I have recently moved so thought I would call the insurers (Adrian Flux) just to let them know and because I had a suspicion that it would be a bit cheaper. Having read this thread http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topi ... 9&f=23&h=0 I was under the impression that the areas went 7,8,9,1,1a, 1b and so forth right up to 6b, then p & q for really bad areas, As I was moving from a 2b to a 3b, got a bit of a discount. But Adrian Flux have a different system, the girl on the phone wasn't very helpful, suprise suprise, but I think theres goes from 1-30 because according to them I am moving from a 21-11. Old post code is BR5, new one is ME10. Just wondering if any of you can shed any light on this? Sam. 8)
  20. definitley get the late model, I never really liked the earlier ones, well maybe in 1993 or something but they haven't aged nearly as well as something like a Corrado.
  21. I agree, I think this whole turbo lag thing is blown out of proportion, as Jim said, just rev it a bit in the gear before and away you go. And no VR owner can say a VR will pull like a train at 40mph in 5th because they would be lying, infact, you have to go above 3k. So a VR doesn't really have that much more of a wider power band and certainly not more useable. A remapped 150PD will be a lot more like a petrol because it has a bigger turbo and the lag is noticeable on that car compared to a 115/130PD. The PD's aren't even the most refined diesel because of where the injectors are housed makes it a bit noisy (in the cylinder head) And did anyone read that review of the remapped 535d in evo? 500lb/ft! nuf said.
  22. I don't think I have read of any VR chains actually getting to the point where they snapped. I do think the 80's and early 90's german cars were very well built. Being a 6 cylinder, there is more to go wrong, but I guess theoretically, there is less pressure on the engine as the power is dispersed over 6 cylinders as opposed to 4, well thats my thoughts anyway, as was said they do use a bit of oil if it is higher mileage, I have heard people saying 1 litre per 1,000 but I always put a bit more than that to be on the safe side and change it every 4k ish (mines done 138k now and running very well), £15 for 5 litres is cheap, an engine rebuild is very expensive.
  23. these type of drag cars are in a different league, I mean despite being road legal, your hardly going to tootle down to tesco in that thing now are you. It gets to the point where the name of the car is less relevant, it's more about the engineering and mechanics. Best 'real' car I saw was some sick Supra that actually flipped out because it had too much power, around 900bhp or something stupid like that, either that or it was a useless driver, they are rwd tho.
  24. Yes, before my VR I had a 205 1.9 gti and no other car has had better feel to it than that, not even the VR. Infact, on slower tight bends, I think the 205 would outhandle the VR and I am saying that after driving both of them many thousands of miles on every type of road. The VR has suprisingly good turn in for a nose heavy car but it does understeer quite a bit which scared the hell out of me the other day. I'm going to buy my bros 205 grd at end of year just as back up for the VR but I wouldn't buy any of these new french cars, except maybe a 182 or clio dci.
  25. I had a Pug 205 diesel, the thing just wouldn't die no matter how much I neglected it, poor little thing. Just out of interest Craigowl, who is the picture of underneath your name? Looks a lot like a friend of mine.
