my vr is black, haven't managed to post a pic as I think the pic is too big and don't have photoshop. I had a white 205 gti which I really liked but don't generally like white cars but the Corrado is an exception to the rule, along with a 911 and maybe a couple of others. But I think black suite the Corrado best as it has the most stealth appeal

range rover drivers! probably only bought such a large car as he is insecure. I am very anti 4x4s at the moment, there just seems to be too many posers these days, not that they even look good, they don't go good and there not economical, so can't really see the attraction...
-
but of course having larger tyres on the rear is purely to make the car look good. The t1rs are very similar to the t1s but it is mainly in the wet that the t1s is even better.

yep, as mentioned I have tried the CTR which I actually liked but this Celica was pretty gutless, even the owner admits, you have to rag the nuts off to make it shift. The interior is a bit plasticky too, the seats are quite nice but it doesn't have the quality feel of a nice VR, the dash board is also quite elongated and plasticky, but it does have a decent 6 speed gearbox.. it needs it tho!!! lol
-
Haven't tried the s2k yeat but have tried the CTR and more recently a Celica 190. The celica looks nice from the front but wasn't really liking it's frumpy behind! lol. Have to agree, not a lot happens when you rev it, sounds a bit sporty but would sound more like a lawn mower next to my VR on song- a little harsh but you get the picture. I think unless an s2k is modified to say 270bhp- n/a or FI it won't really feel very special. IMO high reving engines are better suited to bikes.
-
His bike- it's a type of motorbike and very capable on some roads. I did, however see a review on 5th gear I think where they managed to find a car (super) that actually beat a superbike, but I guess the laws of physics state that you will have to go to great lengths to make a car quicker, particularly on a straight. If it was just for weekends I would definitley get an s2k, but for every day use a 330d.
-
A remapped s2k will not benefit that much from a remap, you are probably looking at around 12bhp, it is n/a and already highly tuned remember. A 330d on the other hand will see 260bhp from a remap and 400+pounds of torque-no way the little s2k will keep up with that. But yes, can't agree more with most bmw drivers being protentious w***ers who think they are above other people just becuase they have a bmw! lol.

had just over 36mpg on about one hours run was doing about 80mph tho so there is room for improvement. And I've had it above 30mpg If I change up at 2k on a 10 mile run to my old work! Most people say they wouldn't run my car because of the petrol it uses- usually thinking it will be as bad/worse than a golf vr6 which is not true, but of course it's the constant need to fix/renew parts that hits the wallet.
-
true, as a piece of engineering that engine in the s2k is amazing, no other manufacturer has topped 240bhp out of 2.0 na, atleast not in large numbers anyway like the s2k has been sold, and it is a lighter unit than used in the CTR, which it seems will adopt this unit in it's next incarnation, although probably a 2.2 version to make it a bit more torquey and driveable. Would I buy an s2k? pah! course not, for that kind of money a remapped 330d will seriously embarass the sewing machine! lol

Fairly rounded opinion, except for the usual sweeping generalisations you get. The fact that the corrado is being compared in the first place shows the respect it still has 10 years on

WHERE CAN I BUY SOME TYRES & FITTED FOR MY VR- PREF IN K
samm_cvr6 replied to samm_cvr6's topic in Suppliers Forum
I know, but to be honest, I have been looking for an excuse to get some decent rubber on there, I keep kidding myself that theres not much tread left anyway but I could probably do another 10k with the current tyres, but hey whats the point in having a Corrado VR if you'r going around in average tyres? lol. I'm pretty sure you cant get the t1s in 205/15 size, but yea, paid £45 a corner for the t1rs. Should really upgrade bushes brakes while I'm there but then I would want suspension aswell, all good things ay... -

thats very handy, I will see if there both open today and maybe I can compare prices to fit since I have already ordered the tyres. There is a kwik fit very near me, you know the one on the one way system opposite the duck pond and near the orpington by pass, but think I will give them a miss. -
Just bought the toyos, will post review once Ive done a few hundred miles with them on.
-
which tyres are you getting? I think I'm going to buy the toyo t1r for £45 a corner, has anyone tried them?

yea, will get either 45 or 50s. I know they do toyo t1r in 50 but not sure if they do a t1s in that size, I might just get the t1rs off my tyres since there only £45 per tyre. -

One of my tyres has had it (rear driver side) I pumped it to 35psi the other day and 2 days later it is flat! You have to love these cars, if it's not one thing, it's another! Anyway, I'm looking for a set of toyo t1s tyres, since I don't mind trading a bit of bad wet grip for improved dry grip. can anyone advise what size is best to buy? 195/205 etc. I don't mind driving to get them if they can fit them for a decent price. :? Thanks 8) -
I'm sure the 2.0t is better than the old 1.8t unit and a 40bhp hike over standard from amd is impressive. Which begs the question, what will the 240bhp VXR remap to? the next focus st is said to be 10secs quicker round the nurburgring so maybe that will put an end to it, the debate goes on...
-
yea, not sure about the new bonnet on the focus but tests I have read are saying it is better than the golf and a3!
-
I wouls say get tpo but owning a C the fully comp may well come in handy! maybe we could set up a list of the top 10 insurance companies since it's in all our interests really.
-
I think the modern focus and fiesta are pretty good actually, they have certainly come on leaps and bounds when you think it wasn't so long ago they were still knocking out escorts. And for all the hype the clio 182 has had, the fiesta ST has been doing the nurburgring 0.1 sec slower!
-
I think a Focus RS will be slightly quicker but the VR is more deceptivley quick, ultimatley, it is a very nice car, it is undoubtedly a quick car but I am very used to mine now and I find myself craving a bit more power. As was mentioned it is quite lazy at low revs. But a Supra TT is a whole different kettle of fish, it costs loads more for starters.

Advice for engine rebuild sought - not sure what's best.
samm_cvr6 replied to aclwalker's topic in Engine Bay
I just got my cylinder head reconditioned but to be honest, in hind sight I would of bought the 2.8 24v v6 I was offered for £450, it's just at the time, none of the mechanics I talked to were interested in fitting it for me. I even offered one of them £1k to do it. Like the others say, I would either spend as little as possible, or get shot of it and get a C with less miles. Just a thought. -
whats the most you have paid on your insurance premium?
samm_cvr6 replied to surfer.vr6's topic in General Car Chat
I paid £850 comp for my VR when I was 23. I set myself a budget of 1k to insure a performance car and was quite pleased with that. Hopefully will drop a bit next year too, if I still have it. -
Are those prices the same for all Corrado models? and can you fit them? or reccommend someone to fit them? thanks
