Im looking for an independent garage (don't want to give my money to the stealers who make too much money as it is) in Kent. Preferably close to either Orpington, Tonbridge or Sh*tness, sorry, meant sheerness  I would like them to stick on the vag com and check if everything is alright- cam sensor etc and hopefully they might know of any pointers it needs. It has just had new cylinder head and I have just done 500 miles under 3k rpm so I believe it needs a service now before I can open her up properly. I would also like them to quiet down the tappets. thanks chaps. 8) :-P

I'm moving to the Sittingbourne area soon so may see you guys around hopefully!
-
an Ibiza 130 tdi would be better value for money if you are looking for performance although a golf will be better made etc. Think you can get them for 7k now, just put a Cupra air intake and jabba remap and hey presto 190bhp and 300 pounds of torque, lol.
-
Get something else mate, Corrados are brilliant but we have to accept there is just so many other nice cars for good prices out there. I can see how some people like to stick with what they know they like tho. Bit off topic, but since you mentioned, how do I sort my tappets out? like you say, I don't think it effects performance or anything but it is getting a bit embarassing, lol.
-
my alternator wires were shagged, but usually this will mean the car will stutter or lose power altogether so maybe it is your battery. hopefully it is the wrires because that will cost you about 50p, lol.

well, I defo think the 406 coup looks better than the Fiat. good to hear some honest opinions on this one.
-
Anyone going up detling hill (kent) in an n reg black VR this morning bout 8am, looks similar to mine-but better.. :-(. I was in my crappy but cheap fiat uno as my C is off the road.. suprise suprise.
-
A rev3 mr2 Turbo is seriously rapid although most have fallen into chav/boy racer characters hands but there are some really nice late ones around. Alternativley, you could just get a £250 disposable diesel off ebay?

So how does the C go down in the U.S do most people think it is cool like in the uk? -

I have spent several weeks in scotland and wales and granted the countryside is nice there but in my opinion the u.s just has so much more being a bigger country. Last time I went to cali, it was amazing, you can have snow one minute in the mountains and hot weather just a few minutes drive away. UK is too cold and wet most of the time, were it not for a certain mr bush, I may well move there- althoug New Zealand beats it hands down IMO. -

I'm liking the black on black combo there, quite tempting for me. Wish our country side was that pretty! -
actually there is an entire forum dedicated to the fiat coupe, but as I and others have said front wheel drive and not very good chassis=bad handling. But there are places that can change the belt without taking out the engine and for around £500- not 1k, you just have to shop around. the 150 1.8t chips to about 190 if it is custom remapped, but if you add bigger tip, exhaust and filter you will be looking at poss 220. If you get a tdi, try and get the pd tho for obvious reasons. Still think an s14a is your best bet tho.
-
suprised nobody has mentioned the 20v Coupe Turbo- but I for one would be concerned about that much power through the front wheels and of course build quality is a bit suspect.
-
you could get an Ibiza 1.8t and get it up to 220+bhp. Or before I got my VR, I looked at a nice S14a for 4k and that is really nice, infact there are times, although not often when I wish I bought it. 260bhp is no probs.
-
I have to decide whether to take a co car or not too, either way, I will try and keep the C. I think the deal is something like 4k a year car allowance or a petrol allowance and it costs around £200 a month for a co car, still not sure which is best. I quite like the idea of not giving a damn about mashing the thing up- ragging it etc tho!
-
true but to hit 140 in a VR you are very near the redline which is hardly cruising. Still, bet it was fun ay! the fastest I ever went was 130
-
hmm, I think you want to make the flow and cooling optimum first so yea, maybe a 4 branch manifold and flowed head. I'm no expert on g60's tho. I know stevemac is doing a bit of a project on his so maybe he can enlighten you.
-
oh, sorry dude, didn't see. Saw a Passat on there with 189k! and it looked not too bad bar the odd chip here and there.
-
well it has a new 3.4 with 295bhp and carbon ceramic brakes and apparently it has bettered the 997s 8min 15sec laptime of nurburgring! It does look a bit strange in pics but maybe will be better in the flesh?
-
"believe me skip companies wouldn't want to go too downmarket for their skips"- brilliant! Anyway, I'm sure the metals will never be robust enough to even use as a skip! All I know is they would have to be knocking out there cars ridiculously cheap for me to even consider one. Maybe they could try and sell them to 3rd world countries like Renault are trying because no one out there knows or cares how crap they are!
-
So is this more marketing hype aimed at squeezing even more money out of buyers with the recent addition of the un Porsche-esque Cayenne or is it a cracker? :?
-
Can you believe, a guy I worked with thought my C was a Passat! dosey old fool!
-
wow, a g60 for a bag of sand ay! And it's not so hot you need oven gloves to drive! lol. makes the 3k I payd for my VR sound like a lot.
-
cool, was thinking maybe an Audi 80 tdi as a run around, bargains galore on there.
-
yea saw some cheap Passats on ebay, what model/mileage was yours for £75? lol. Well, my whole love of Corrados stemmed from Back to the future because the delorian has more than a passing resemblence to a Scirocco. My friend had christened her the space ship because it's kind of stealthy in black and pretty quick. I do talk to my car, sad yes. My gf's old man had me in stitches one day when he had this old granada and whipped it round a round about, saying "get round there girl" LMAO!
