LOL, Well Kevs can because he has a blower fitted to it....I think most people will agree, up to 130 in a standard VR ain't too much bother, but slows right down after about that speed. But yes, I think the official top speed of a VR is 145
-
The VR is a quick car, no doubt, but Im used to the speed of mine and it no longer feels fast to be honest, there is one by pass which I often floor it in 3rd and 4th which is good fun. Basically, it's just a good all round car, no one really buys a VR for out and out speed even tho it can keep pace with a lot of todays machinery.
-
In all seriousness tho, this is an example of why I dont want to sell my C, because someone will prob get an absolute bargain and prices seem to be so low right now..good luck with the project tho dude. :D
-
hehe, who would put a tow bar on a C ay! tut tut....
-
Wow, that has to be the cheapest VR I've seen! looks similar to mine in the first pics you put up there too.. 8)
-
Yea, if I use optimax and don't go over 70ish on the motorway I will definitley get 35+mpg, obviously helps if the car has had a service and is in good condition.
-
Wow, absolutley phenomenal! As was mentioned, I don't think the performance will ever be bettered.. Apparently David Beckham has one on orer! git... 8)
-
oo Dear, is it really that bad....ah well, at least looks like you have a nice new car coming then, wouldn't of thought you could go wrong with an A4 TDI... 8)
-
Why did you sell it Nelson? and what sort of problems did you have with it? As I was half thinking of getting a Cupra TDI or maybe just an Ibiza 130TDI Sport..

VR6 Highline versus a Nissan 200sx

Sounds like a no brainer to me..I would definitley get the 200S14A Just look at scott's, not many VR's that can match that... 8) -
sorry to hear that, I am an animal lover...LOL...would feel worse if it was a badger, because fox's are everywhere these days anyway...if that makes you feel better...
-
hehe, Dinkus, how much would I be looking at for all new bushes then? and maybe top mounts....my VR doesn't really feel up to scratch....ta

My gf always sais she wants a sportka too! on the rare occasion she talks about a new car..hehe, that must be the ultimate in girlie carness!
-
Go for a test drive with her in an MX5 and an MGF and I reckon she will definitley prefer the MX5... Or what about an Ibiza Cupra?

Supra's/R33's can be tuned to no end, depends on your preference really, Obviously supra's are RWD where as some R33's have 4WD. M3 EVO's aren't any more stressed then a normal EVO, they just have BI VANOS, which is basically VVT, and they also have about 200cc more then a normal M3..THey also score well on the interior, most R33's I have seen have budget cloth interior! Personally I would prob get a Supra TT...
-
Performance wise they are better value for money, no denying that, they are also better specc'd up, late models have 6 speed, leather & a/c. I personally wouldn't buy one, but thats not to say it isn't a good car. If I had 5k for a coupe I would probably get an S14A, but strecth it to 9k and more likely to get an E36 EVO or R33/Supra TT..
-
The official top speed for the 130PD Ibiza is 129, so a chipped one will probably be atleast 135, although hindered by gearing, not sure why the top speed of your friends was 122...
-
Personally, I would try and hold out for the 170 PD unit available in +the Passat, chip that and you will have 200 horses, no probs, plus all the torque.

Fifth Gear Unleaded/Super Unleaded Experiment
samm_cvr6 replied to Walesy's topic in General Car Chat
I think you do notice the difference when you are driving the card hard,, and of course it does idle better. But one thing I am also certain of is the car returns a higher mpg with Optimax, and I have tested this countless times.. I get about 3mpg minimum more with Optimax, so the 5p a litre more is a more then worth it in my opinion.. -
well there's no denying the mk1 focus is better handling then a mk4 golf, and the mk2 focus is better handling then amk5 golf, thats not to say it is a better car all round tho. The current fiesta is rumoured to be recieving a 180bhp version of the current 2.0 unit, should be quite formidable..

We are on a Corrado forum, so of course people will say VW are better, but let's just be realistic, comments like "but it's a Ford" are hardly presenting a cogent argument now are they? All Im saying is lets not get carried away like VW are untouchable, because like every other manufacturer, they aren't. So if we could just take off the rose tinted glasses for a minute..LOL And when I mentioned Ford catching up VW I was only referring to the MK2 Focus, not the fusion. But I have a MK5 TDI as a pool car aswell, so I am well aware of it's merits and downfalls..

The GTI has the heritage, but class is subjective, I do however still think the GTI will be a better all round tool probably, but I don't think they have been put head to head yet so we will just have to see, and the ST will easily be as receptive to tuning as the GTI, but as far as turning up at posh places in your car is concerned, I couldn't give a monkeys really what others thought of my car, as long as I liked it.
-
Hehe, well I think the £2k I would save burning a whole in my back pocket might make up for that, and let's just reserve judgement til we see how they compare on a track, because the ST is doing the Nurburgring 10sec quicker then the old RS so the MK5 GTI will have it's work cut out.. But in terms of quality, Ford has actually caught up with VW IMO

Although some of the fifth gear presenters may be better drivers, I still prefer top gear, they seem to be more enthusiastic and fun. But fifth gear is still a good progrmme in it's own right.
