Looks very nice, they will have to pull out all the stops tho if it is to rei supreme, so any estimates on the price of the VR6 Rivo? I'm sad to admit, but by the time it comes out, I would rather fork out on a 350Z or a Boxster S, but Im sure it will be a great car.
-
The older Hyundai was a bit of a let down, as much as I love my C, I do get the sense that a few people on this forum may have slightly rose tinted glasses on, it is a great car, but not without it's flaws, like any other car.
-
of course!, that goes without sayin....
-
Hey steve, dont know figures but I have seen 1 or 2, but as G60's generally can be considered rare, a silver one is rarer, most common colour I have seen is red/blue. Oh and why is yr name astrasteve if u drive a g60? out of curiosity...

How does the car run when it is just idling? does it sound rough and is the tachometer dead still or is it erratic? well, if it has been mixed with petrol/diesel, then you prob wont eve smell the difference depending on quantities. I would get the diagnostics checked first, and don't drive it anywhere yet.
-
Oil can easily leak from the rocker gasket, but how many miles has the car done? it could be something more serious, ie valve seals or even head gasket?
-
Right, have you actually checked the oil level? and where was the smoke coming from? Notbeing funny, but how can you not know the difference between diesel/petrol? diesel smells a bit horrible where as some people like the smell of petrol? 2 days standing won't make any difference to it, but it is very possible it is low on oil, especially if you haven't checked it?
-
Yea, there comes a point where performance just gets silly expensive and not cost effective, which is what is so good about hot hatches such as a clio 182, there cheap as chips and loads of fun too drive..
-
HAHAHA. I agree, but there is often so much traffic it's hard to, well impossible to move over, but I reckon, if everyonedrove correctly there would be so much less congestion on motorways, if people want to do over a tonne, then let them, just get out there way. And junctions to roundabouts is annoying like you said KEV, people slowing right down to 1st gear on one near me, when I can take it in 3rd, in any car...causing massive tail backs, sos I also, tend to cut in toward the last 50metres, as some grandad has probably left another 50metre gap infront and no chance of touching me.. Oh and I pulled on to the motorway the other day, was cruising around 80, when my mate in his company XSARA HDI! over took me at 100! writing a text message! I shi* you not!

Are you referring to 2.0 FI Cossie lumps? because FI is a whole different kettle of fish regarding power outputs to N/A. With the VR, it is not a high bhp, by todays standards anyway, but compared to V6 lumps of the time like the Vauxhall/Ford, it ain't bad at all. And remember it is also an older 2v per cylinder jobbie, probably more similar to a TVR engine in that sense, none of this BI VANOS type technology you would see on an M3. And don't get too bogged down with power, as torque and how it is produced is equally important, sure a VTEC/VVTI will have high power, but only best used on a track, and trade off is torque lower down.
-
yea, well he has probably just read that and will say that! how convenient ay! but have to agree, once you spend over 2k, has to make more sense to just put a charger on....
-
If you do a search on the forum, you will see that fast cams are available on the VR for around £250, so forgetting the shrick, I still reckon I could get my VR up to 220bhp for about £900! maybe not taking to AMD tho...
-
exactley dazz, there was only a post on here a couple of days ago, with a shrick on ebay for £400, you can get "other" performance cams for about £250, so thats £650......hell, lets just go mad and say it's £1,000. And I could defo fir these mods myself and I don't even consider myself to be good with the spanners...... so then you just need say a blue flame exhaust for £250/ Magnex for £280, lets say its £1,280, filter for about £150, your at £1,430 and remap, well you dont have to go t amd and pay turbo remap prices!
-
from my estimates, I would say 230, not 240, I was prob being a tad optimistic
-
Hmm, 240bhp from a VR is not that much, from a Corrado VR anyway, I reckon a Schrick=15, cams=15, axhaust, filter and remap=20, so theres 50bhp with only about 2k....
-
I reckon the Clio may be more fun to drive, but I dont think it would lap quicker then a CTR, which has in tests, beaten an S2K, all be it by a ve+ry small amount. Probably more tuneable then the Clio too, if the one spiker G60's 350bhp n/a one is anything to go by....
-
it is most definitley fast, no doubt there, but a bit numb/cut off from it all thats all, still, dont get me wrong, its a very nice car alright. get it remapped and should be even more interesting...........
-
You sure a 182 chips to 202? I mean, it is essentially a remapped 172 anyway, albeit with sports exhaust... And after driving a CTR, I don't think it will run rings around it, maybe on a more un even road, but on a track there will be sod all in it. But who cares anyway, it's built out of tin cans although I do still really like it...
-
Hmmm, S4 is very good but hardly a fun car, that S14 200 looks nice, but it ain't the late Touring Spec one.....
-
Jap is pretty good I would say, and I have had loads of German cars. But I would say a 270bhp Nissan 200 S14A like Scott has would be more then a viable alternative to a VR.
-
172 Cup VS Corrado VR is nothing in it before 60 anyway. But we are talking about a Cavalier SRI, not a Calibra Turbo here, won't be much trouble to see off, but yea, there won't be a massive gap in it.
-
yea, the 182 is probably slightly quicker then an ST170, but as an every day car, I would defo take the ST170 no doubts there, but the good thing about the 182 is it is a fair bit cheaper, especially 2nd hand.
-
As much as I liek the Clio, it is still 4th choice in that category. You have better all round cars such as 1)Leon R 225 2)Fooucs ST 170 3)CTR
-
You absolute jokers. I love 172 Cups, which are quicker then 182s, but above 60, you have no chance, and what does that say about the Clio which was built 9 years later? Not a lot, as much as I love it. I would still get a remapped 225 Leon, to 270+bhp if I were looking at a modern hatch, lets see how your little cleo keeps up with that??? Plus, the Cleo only has 5 gears, is very badly built and unrefined. More of a thrasher,weekend/track car. So who has the n/a 190bhp valver then? Yes, 240bhp is poss from a n/a VR... why not? And telly our friend with his pikey/chavalier to duss with his SRI, you might not even leve him that much o the straights, but he will be uindersteering like anything round the corners. And R32- Hmmm, anyone who has a CVR6 running in very good condition will testify, the R32 is going nowhere in a race.
-
nah, sorry but even a racing Puma won't outhandle a DC5 Integra, which is hailed as THE best handling FWD car of all time. I would buy one but don't really think they are worth the money TBH, even second hand there are just too much competition for it, and it ain't the most tuneable car either.
