Thanks for the advice but I've been using it for years on three different cars and my appraisal was based on my experience over that time. I also use Swissol Onyx and the finish is similar with the cleaner wax and can be applied and removed in half the time and at a fraction of the cost. Most people don't have time to wash the car 4 times, paint clense, polish, wax glaze etc. The cleaner wax gives a great finish, takes about 45 minutes to do and last for a couple of months. Most of those reviews seem to agree too. Granted its effect is enhanced by having a clay bar'd surface to begin with but personally I've got way too much going on in my life to go through all that paint clensing, double washing rigmarole!

Polish fills in the gaps (swirls, 'spider webs', shallow scratches etc) and wax adds a protective layer on top. You can get all in one wax/polish type products if you haven't got the time or inclination to do the full process. My mate's just has his Arctic Silver 996 GT3 covered in an opaque white wrap and he's dead chuffed. Apparently it's very impact resistant to stone chips.

Some Corrado things which come to mind... Rear axle bushes Starting issues (relays, temp sender, ig switches etc) Bore wear on cylinders 1 and 6 usually on high milers. Bottom ends typically strong but top end often need a refresh around 100K. Head gasket failure is common and chains need doing when they get noisy Heater matrix Poor headlights and wipers (look for examples with relayed headlights and ‘Lupo’ or ‘Aero’ wipers) Gearbox wear – weak syncro, high mile boxes don’t like to be hurried Spoilers sometimes don’t work Saggy bolsters on driver’s seat ABS systems are very prone to going wrong and wheel sensors, pumps and valve units are often all equally to blame. Run VAG COM and see what comes up 8) That's what springs to mind at the moment

Awesome effort! What are your thoughts on the Genesis 6x9 subs? I use Genesis Audiophile 6.5s and I love them. I seriously considered the mini subs but Mr Piano/Cheese/Hay-Wire ended up selling a load of his kit to me in the end and I use a 10.

Has anybody else observed the general degradation in the quality of Pistonheads recently? The people posting just have no idea. It’s as though they never went to school; some seem to be completely illiterate. When I first added it to my list of ‘often visited’ sites it was a place built by enthusiasts for enthusiasts, evidence heavy bias towards Porsche, TVR and other interesting marques. All good stuff I thought. Now the ‘news’ items are poorly written and often completely lacking in substance. There was an article last week about some company making a carbon fibre wheel. I thought this was quite interesting but the guy who wrote the text somehow managed to string out about three paragraphs which told the reader precisely nothing about the actual product. Are there any other decent non-marque-specific enthusiast websites which don’t have people posting up pictures in ‘Reader’s Cars’ of chavved up Mk 4 Fiestas?

Me too. I've only got 140w RMS :lol: If you're using headunit power I wouldn't bother with 6.5s and the faff of the pods personally. Maybe stick a couple of sheets of deadening material in the doors but call it a day there. Choose a nice efficient speaker though - something designed to be driven from the head unit. I use head unit powered Orion 6x4s in the stock loactions in the back. My non-start issue similar to yours was cured with an £8 fuel pump relay which was on its way out. For the sake of the outlay and ease of fitting I'd buy one anyway. They have a lot of juice going through them which you could see as the tabs were quite discoloured. If you've got a mate nearby with a C you could always pop his in to see if it works before you buy one.

Are you running a wet or dry kit? Will you also retard the timing slightly?

By all accounts ABS on a Corrado is more touble than it's worth anyway! :lol:

Shout me down if I'm teaching you to suck eggs but the ol' VR will always make a racket for the first 2 or 3 seconds whilst the oil works it way into the tappets. That's quite normal.
