  1. 16VG60 (JMR) did mine for about £140 fitted. I can't remember exactly how much as I had other work done at the same time.
  2. Fair enough, I think a FMIC might be a 2006 job for me!
  3. Have you fitted this set up and run it yet stevemac?
  4. And what's the fun in that!? I came over a few times to introduce myself but you were busy with punters.
  5. Cool. I've got an Orange PatriotLT. What do you ride?
  6. I have, see my post above :( Oh well, at least I can have H&R in my signature list of mods! Also, I can take comfort in the fact that I have further "modified" my car by buying non-standard parts to make it better. That's how it'll work in my brain. Incidentally, was it your car outside the Audioscape stand at Inters?
  7. Just ordered the H&R ones from here: http://www.needforspeed.co.uk/pages/home.asp for £41.13 delivered
  8. http://www.hrsprings.com/site/products/triplec.html
  9. VTS commonly 120 brake, some were 130 phase one VTR 90 brake phase two VTR 98 brake But many std cars have been rolling roaded at considerable more than factory figures
  10. My faith in multi-car respect is now restored. The reason that VTR's are popular is that if you're young they're cheap to insure (gp7), realtively nippy, cheap to run, reliable and credible. I would have dearly loved to get a 3dr Oak Green 16v GTi when I got my VTR and I could have afforded the car. Unfortunately the insurance was either a) prohibitively high or in many cases b)unobtainable.
  11. I would imagine that it would be comparable in performance to a lesser powered 4 pot normally aspirated Corrado? I'm not saying it's gonna shred tarmac! Well all I can say is that I never had drill a hole in any spoiler to get the washer jet to work??? Perhaps he shouldn't be so cavalier with his use of power tools and try to rectify the problem another way. Alternatively he could have gone onto the active web fourm and posted up his problem? A 1.8 16v Golf had about 140brake didn't it? The VTS has 120 or 130 brake depending on variant and probably has a weight advantage. I wasn't there at these drag races you describe so I can't comment. On paper, there's not much in it so I'm not inclined to believe you "killed" it. My point is that all cars have their faults and no car is perfect and Germany isn't necessary the holy grail of automotive perfection.
  12. I agree Jim, the Rado does require focus to drive. All of the controls require a good shove! The VTR was very light and the car "skipped" rather than the Corrado which "ploughs"! :D
  13. Man wot the fcuk have you been smokin??? Throw some over here. French cars are buckets of poop, ive had a peugot and a clio and they were bother utter piss, German engineering is the way forward I had a VTR and I concede that the interior was held together with crabsticks and ovaltine but at the same time the steering was light and had plenty of feel, the engine had a good load of grunt (quicker than some of the n/a 4 cylinder 'Raddos) and it weighed 900kgs. It was a great handling car. Mine was lowered slightly on Konis, had a Magnex zorst and a BMC CDA filter and it really flew. Evo, undoubtably the best mag available, echos these opinions. The French build great handling cars. What do the press rate as some of trhe greatest hot hatches? Pug 205 GTI, Pug 106 GTI (often in Evo handling tests as a wildcard and does very well), R5 GTT, Clio Williams, Clio 172 and 182. The Mk1 and 2 Golfs also feature but what happened with the Mk 3 and 4!!!! The Mk5 is a good car but the Golf has steadily gained weight to the point where it's not a supermini any more. And the alternative? An ultra rare Lupo GTi or a Polo GTi with 125bhp. It doesn't cut the mustard against a keenly priced 182. I think that comments like yours are why there's this wierd brand snobbery amongst some VW owners. Can't somebody who owns car x like car y or does he have to discount all cars not made by a particular marque? You wouldn't touch a Noble, TVR or a Lotus would you owing to the fact it's not German?
  14. I have just had some FK Highsport coilovers fitted and the garage that fitted them said that the fronts have run out of camber adjustment. It's not down that low (in fact it's the highest setting for the fronts!) so if I lower it any more I won't be able to adjust the camber accordingly. Is there any way around this or do people just accept that they're going to wear out the insides of their tyres if they go low?
  15. I think it rocks, especially the steel wheels with no trims! The French know how to build small cars that handle well so no worries there. Still, it's on std 1.2 RN suspension and brakes so it won't handle much like a 182! My gf has got a Clio of that shape is it's a nice car. It's done 60K miles and is still very tight, no build quality issues at all.
  16. One of the yellow coated marshalls at the campsite said that there were twice as many GTi campers last year. Won't be going back to Wantisden campsite in a hurry, showers weren't even heated! I went with 3 mates, all of us were first timers and we all thought it was a bit disappointing. There wasn't really much to it. I don't know how stands were organised but there were just as many stand/feature worthy cars in the car park as there were in the show. There were a few mag featured Mk 1 Golfs and that mental SWB black quattro to name but a few. Why couldn't they get more cars on stands? Also, £6 a go up the strip. What a complete rip-off. I went to Santa Pod the other day and spent £15 on unlimited runs on a proper drag strip! I did have a laugh but that was probably more down to the fact I was with a few friends and had a few beers. Might go to Ed38 if I get clearance from the g.f.!
  17. I think I quite like it. Not too F&F but a bit different. His "switchblade key" is awesome!! And the engine bay!!!! Euro cool with a Jap twist.
  18. No filter at all!!!! Goodness. Get either a stock one or a K&N. Not much difference between the two other than one is washable!
  19. John from JMR (aka 16VG60) recommends Littlehampton Tyres in West Sussex. Try them on Google, I think they've got quite a good site.
  20. One thing to bear in mind, I do love my G60 but it's an expensive car to run. Most are getting on a bit now and need things replacing on them. VAG parts aren't all that cheap either. My car cost me £3.5K but I've spend probably about £2.5K again on it. Not tuning bits necessarily but maintenance and "turning the clock back" parts.

    FK Coilovers

Have a look at the pics on my Dubforce link below. I could take it lower but it's fine for now. The back need to down a bit more though. I haven't dropped it too low as you tend to get bump steer if the wishbones "point upwards" when the car is at rest.

    Post back once they're fitted!
