Thanks. Think I was confused with drilled and grooved!

Welcome aboard - pleased to see another 2ltr join the ranks.

Should the front discs on my 2.0 16v be ventilated? Reading various publications seem to imply that they should be, but they are not. Has a previous owner had the wrong ones fitted?

Was looking through a brochure that I have for the C which is in German, and on one of the pages it shows a breakdown of the types of metal etc that have been used for various parts. I can work out that the bulkhead seems to be galvanised, but it also shows the doors, sunroof and rear hatch are also different - zinc something - I can sort of work out from the wording! Does anyone know what they are made from? Are they zinc coated or something to stop them rusting if they get damaged/scratched? Incidentally, my passenger door has gone sort of pimpelly, although doesn't appear to have actually rusted or anything. Any idea what this is?

Maybe it's just 6 secs by default if you don't set it.
-
Tried it, and it works on mine - which is a bit of a cross-over model (i.e. new body bits/old trim). This functionality doesn't seem to be mentioned in the handbook though. All it says it that the intermittant is approx 6 secs.
-
Didn't know it had that functionality. Should that work on all C's with early or late intrumentation?

Sorry just done a search (should have done it before posting new topic) and have found the info about fitting late style to old. However my questions still stand with regard to how much improved the new ones are over the old style. One thing that always bugs me with mine are when I just want to do a single wipe on the windscreen. If you don't push up enough, it sort of starts to wipe then stops, and if you just push too far you end up with them on full. Is this better on the later style?
-
Is it possible to fit the later style indicator/wiper stalks to an earlier car? If yes, what's involved? Also, are the later ones all that much improved (I know they look more rounded)? Do they have a smoother action etc? I find that my earlier style ones are a bit clunky.

A blue 'K' reg at the roundabout near Morrisons in Horndean this morning about 8:45ish. You were waiting to join the roundabout as I drove round it. I waved, you didn't!

Still seems to be working fine, and strangely enough (touch-wood), my cutting out at idle seems to have stopped! Thought this was an ISV problem but could it be that if the speed sensor was misbehaving that it could affect the idle - from the point of view when it fails to catch when you drop it out of gear and it just cuts out? Thinking back, the cutting out did tend to start happening just about when the speedo started playing up, but I thought that was just a coincidence.

A 'K' reg C parked along the Eastney end of Southsea seafront. Saw it there earlier in the weekend, and then walking past last night with our dog, it was still there but now has a smashed in windscreen :(

Thanks. Just trying to work out what it might cost in total to get my car lowered. So I could probably get new shocks and springs and the lot fitted for about £400. Does that sound reasonable? Then on top of that I would have the insurance to sort out - whatever they decide to charge me extra.
-
Any idea on how many hours work this would normally be?

Any idea what sort of price I'd expect to pay to have a set of lowered springs/shocks fitted?

Creative Zen Micro Vs Panasonic Headunit ****UPDATED****

What I'd really like is to be able to control the Zen micro from my head-unit but I guess that's probably asking a bit much. -
Creative Zen Micro Vs Panasonic Headunit ****UPDATED****
kerrinmay replied to Furkz's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
Was thinking of asking for a Creative Zen Micro for my birthday this year, but it will only be any use if I can connect it to my head unit. I've got a Kenwood that accepts a CD multichanger but will just have to look to see if the leads shown on caraudiodirect are compatible with my particular model. -

Was it an 'M' reg with 17" alloys and possibly a violet/silver colour rather than just silver? If yes, then was probably a colleague of mine that works in our Petersfield office. -

L** VRG this morning in a 'classic car' specialist garage in Goldsmith Avenue, Portsmouth. If it's anyone on here, then are they any good with C's as it would be well handy for me as only a few mins walk from my house. -
Sorry I thought I'd already tried that and it didn't bring much back. I'll have another go.
-
How smooth should the gear change be? Mine doesn't really slide into each gear, more of a positive notch, and third gear normally needs a reasonable push to get it in.
-
Looks like I'll be needing coilovers then. Will probably have to wait a few months/years before I can justify spending out for those!
-
You won't catch me back at the dealers again either (unless I'm at the parts desk).

Thanks for ALL the info! All I really want to do with mine is bring it down a bit so that it looks better (i.e. no huge gap above the wheels in the arches), possibly about 40mm? It has to come down evenly though, I don't it noise down and arse in the air! What would be my best bet and what's it likely to cost? Can I get away with just shortened springs?
