  1. 130k miles, no engine issues.
  2. How weird is that, could be useful for wind noise reduction as you say. I wonder if its on Etka.
  3. Are you changing the oil regularly? Naff oil can cause sticky tappets.
  4. So if you go for Goodridges, with Mk4 Calipers can you get a set that fits all of those. Presumably the Mk2 to Mk4 set still has the same short hoses in, just the caliper hoses are different. Hope this is clear!
  5. How many flexible hoses are there on the back of a Corrado VR6 is it 2 or 4?
  6. Its just part of the cam cover, it differs between early and late VRs. On one type its part of the cam cover itself and the other type it is separate.
  7. You can get Sticky felt from John Lewis, I've got some ready to go on. Its not 2mm but should do the job.
  8. Front view looks awesome, I bet people move over quick when they see you in their mirrors.
  9. What, Victoria Sponge? Does your car run on cake?? :) If only, it would probably be cheaper than petrol! No it was from the Idle Valve sound deadner, the sponge inside that had disintegrated with the heat from the exhaust below and I had multiple spooky revving scenarios for about a month until I found all the bits of sponge! The later sound deadners have a metal heat shield on them to stop that.
  10. Ah beat me to it. Mine did exactly the same when I had a bit of sponge jammed in the ISV. Glad you sorted it.
  11. Make sure you check the positioning/fit of the exterior seals to the pillars, mine had huge gaps and irregularities.
  12. Are all Mk4 Calipers the same? ie does it matter what model they come from?
  13. Sounds like blocked drain pipes as supercharged said, it shouldn't matter how much water goes past the seal as long as the drain pipes are clear.
  14. Apologies if its been done before, I think its brilliant though. http://videos.streetfire.net/hottestvid ... f6c195.htm
  15. Yep, thats what I'm doing, its the compensator thats holding the job up at the mo. :x
  16. Got mine in the week, looks good, cheers :-)
  17. they are a git on the vr6 mate, i drilled the heads off the allen bolts and it still didnt want to shift, eventually used a cordless sabre saw and cut the barsteward off........£70 - £80 quid for a new one I think I'm going to saw through my rear bush pivot bolt and then work on the compensator with it off the car. I'll try drilling/extractors and or hammer and punch, if not I'll be doing what you did!
  18. Do they do anything for allen bolts, my rear brake compensator has rounded bolts and I need it off.
  19. 9/10 faults (nearly!) are HT related, run the car up in the dark and open the bonnet and look in, see if you can see any sparks anywhere...its a good start
  20. What are you supposed to do to the compensator when you have lowered it, is it just a case of unbolting the bit that moves and re-attaching at a different point on its travel.
  21. There's a thread on VWVortex that explains why its important, I'll try and dig it out, when I've done mine before I use every timing mark, ie the flywheel one, the crank pulley, the intermediate pulley and the upper pulley. Then spin it all round at least 4 times and check every mark is still alligned. You have to do it four times to bring all pulleys back to their original position. I think its unforgiveable for a garage to get it wrong, if I can get it right on the driveway...
  22. Didn't VrTrickster say that he had a Distributor?.....No coil pack springs to mind...
  23. You getting front and rear wishbone bushes Kev? Any idea on prices or where I can find out?
