Oh, I think the Vibratechnics mount is £125, not sure if it was really worth paying the extra over the standards £44.
-
I had the 2 engine mounts away, the vw specialist I got them changed at recommended sticking with standard mounts at the back of the engine but uprating the front to a Vibratechnics so thats what ive went with. Im well happy with it, have noticed no extra vibrations or noise (although as my previous mounts were shot they might not have been damping this out) and the car feels generally better to drive.
-
Thats exactly the mount I was talking about, £65 for a new one.

Clean all the crap of the toothed rings and sensors, spray some wd40 on the plugs that go into the front and side of the abs unit, if this doesnt help then its probably diagnostic time.
-
And a knee bar thing instead of the shelves we have under the glovebox.
-
Yeah, I know the front one wasnt oil filled as that was changed as well, its the one at the back right on the gearbox that im talking about, it definately had some sort of brown stuff running down the side of it. Guess we will need to wait see the pics.

I know I said it was good at the time, but its that good I only listened to it about 3 times and cant even remember most of it know.
-
Ok, to me it sounds like your gearbox mount. Is it the thing that is between the gearbox and subframe? Might sound strange but the mounts are filled with some sort of gel and yes, when there old and its oozing out its brown. Mine was anyway when it was changed last week. I think the new one was about £65. You will need to check the front one as well as its usually when the front one is on the way out causing excess movement it kills the gearbox one.

Just thought I would also mention, theres a special tool for removing the plug leads, it should be clipped to the bonnet stay. If its not there then the leads may have just been pulled out in the past causing damage.
-
As your car is a '92 I take it it has a distributor and not a coil pack? Reason I ask is that coil packs have a tendency to crack causing misfires. Most likely thing I would say is plugs or leads, you say the leads look ok, how did you check them? The heat of the vr6 kills leads so if they have been on the car a few years I would say thats probably where your problem is. For the sunroof I think theres a repair kit available but I dont know what parts are included, there are other threads on this though if you have a look about.

Dunno, when i had the 16v in for an mot the mfa said 96 but there oil probe thingy said 82.

I agree with Roddy, I recently sold my (admitedly not mint condition) 93 K 2.0 16v for £3000, and it was moonlight blue which is a fairly desirable colour.

Got the car back today with everything done, it all came to £685  Worth it though, I cant believe the difference an accelerator cable makes. Can also feel that the back end isnt skipping about anymore in the corners and the engine movement isnt noticable at all anymore. I havent even noticed anymore vibration in the car. :D Back next month for a service, brakefluid change and think im gonnae get the front bushes changed for poly ones as well. :?

No probs, I think the services we are talking about meeting up at are the Bothwell ones just before Motherwell on the m74. What way would you go through Glasgow?
-
Ok, a bit of a plan is starting to form, so far a poor turn out from the Glasgow area, with myself and biggrim. The plan is hopefully to meet up at services near the start of the m74 and make it about the time skid and anyone else thats travelling down from up north will be passing so we can all meet up. Im sure skid or someone will arrange everything on the up north end but anyone else from the Glasgow area or nearby thats going and wants to meet up, give me a shout so we know whos all meeting where.

Looks great Roddy, as low as mine at the back but I think my front looks higher? How does it drive now?
-
Guilty  , but only in my old 16v, the vr6 gets looked after. Im using Turtlewax wash and wax (on special in halfords and I was skint) just now but I need to get some of the proper stuff.
