I dont know if there the same but I think you should check out the millteck performance cat if you need a new one, I dont think theres much difference in price and theres supposedly a noticable improvement in performance.

Im pretty sure the g60 is a 16.

Im with http://www.insureyourmotor.com as well, have been since september '01. Got insured tpf&t for £1297 and I was 20. It was on a 2.0 16v which is an insurance group higher than a g60, they said if it had been a g60 then about 100 cheaper. Id already just bought the 16v but would probably have got a g60 if I knew then what I know now.

doubt it, if you take the backbox off it gets even louder but there will be less backpressure

I meant FI as in forced induction, I think im starting to get it now though in that its to do with flow as well as boost. I would need to see rr graphs from 2 similar sc vr's with and without vsr's to be convinced its worth having both.
-
Cheers, it looks lighter than the pictures and can be a bit too purple, but I like it. lol, previous owner sent me these pics, I havent taken any yet, carpet has been clean since I got it.

If you dont mind me asking, what happened to cause the damage? What brakes are you running behind the speedlines to cope with the power?
-
Timing belt and tensioner.

Yeh, I sort of understand how it works in an NA engine, but in an FI engine is it not all about the boost it makes? Example, say a vr6 makes 5psi at 3000 rpm and 10 psi at 6000rpm (made up figures) how would adding a vsr increase the boost at low revs as the charger will still be spinning the same speed? I know theres more to it than that and im missing something as theres too many cars with both.
-
Im puzzled every time I see a supercharged vr6 with a vsr, the idea of the vsr is to change the inlet trackts to make them easier for the engine to suck in more air at different revs as I understand it. A supercharger forces the air in so it shouldnt really matter how long they are so whats the point in both. Im trying to understand why but I aint an expert on engines so could someone please explain?

Seriously interested, yeah, but more researching it all just now. It will be end of year/start of next year hopefully, ive got a few things I want to get done before then. Sell 16v, vr on the road, use money from 16v to pay back loan, brake upgrade, samcos, engine mounts and probably a lot of other things that I cant think of at the moment. I think I would probably attempt the fitting myself. I was going to go for one of the filters in your other post but the charger kit comes with a decent cone filter so ill make do with my kn panel just now.

I just got a reply email from Vince at Stealth after asking about chargers, they are hoping to be doing the VF kit in the near future for about £2500 fitted. :D :D :D

As far as I know the cam is better than the one on the 2.0 16v but as yours is a 1.8 then you already have the better cams

It looks like theres meant to be a circlip but if there was mine went walkies when it popped off the first time. It happened because I accidentaly hit the wiper stalk when my windscreen had a couple of inches of snow on it, was there anything jamming or causing pressure on your wipers when it happened?
-
Had the same problem on my 16v, was a right bas****. It has probably bent slightly and unless you get it exact it will keep popping off. Experiment bending the arm until it seems ok, this is a temp fix. To fix proper, turn the wipers on until they are at the top of the windscreen then turn off the ignition so they stay there, this gives easier access. Drill a hole straight through the top of the balljoint thing. Use a thin bolt with some washers and a rubber washer at the top, locking nut at the bottom and grease it all, problem solved. Its lasted me over a year so far.

I think ive got the new style socket on my vr6, looks a bit like a scart plug under the gearlever. Does this mean its obd2 or just the connector?
-
Hmm, didnt realise they were that much, a full set from Turn 2 is $189. Keep me updated on what it will be with any possible discount though Chris. Kev, Turn 2 do Sports and Race hardness mounts, which ones is it you bought?
-
I think this is just a common thing with eibach's, a lot of C owners use front lowering top mounts or something to make it look more even I think. What dampers are you using?
-
Isnt the Golf highline a Golf vr6 with a higher spec but same engine?
-
Done as I said above and it now seems to be ok, hopefully it was just a dodgy plug. James, if it was the fuel pump would the problem not be more noticable at higher revs than low down? If the problem comes back ill try changing it as I have a spare here that I bought anyway as the one on the car is fairly noisy. The reason I didnt change it before was because the pipes and stuff about it are corroded.
-
You can put my name down for one of them Chris, dependant on price.

Strange one, driving at low revs, put the foot down and up to about 2000 the car stutters quite badly. Above 2000 it takes off and runs fine. Im off to try different plugs and clean the air filter, distributor but if anyone has any suggestions they would be appreciated as I have people coming to view the car within the next few days. Cheers
