Biggerbigben - Golf sold.. another new project!
CoxyLaad replied to biggerbigben's topic in Members Gallery
Excellent result! I bet thats got a bit of grunt. Now officially (as far as I am aware) the most powerful corrado on the forum, topping harra by 10bhp. -
best not ask :D

yes you can my friend. Mr Horrocks fitted his r32 with the vr oil filter housing and cooler

G60 lightened fly wheel??? what you think??
CoxyLaad replied to iow_corrado_g60's topic in Engine Bay
no. I meant exactly what I said. Theres no point what so ever in having large flywheel at high revs. what you want is a light flywheel on acceleration/deceleration, and a heavy flywheel for idling and steady cruise. -

My take on dual mass: the flywheel has some spring loaded weights in it that make up its mass. on accelerating and decelerating the the weights move toward the center of the crank, and in the same way an ice skater spins faster when she pulls her arms in the flywheel has effectively less mass. then at constant speed and idle the weights return to their furthest out position thus having a greater effective mass for smooth idle, gentle pulling away etc. see you could have 2 solid flywheels the same mass, but if one holds all its mass at its outer edge and the other has it close to the point of rotation then they will have very different characteristics indeed. class - you have spent 3 evenings polishing up a part thats never going to be seen through the fact that a) its right down the back of the engine, and b) you are going to cover it with lagging!!! whats all that about?

nah I am not having that. A car pushing out upwards of 160bhp is not going to struggle up a hill because its got a lighter flywheel. I can see what you are getting at but I think its not going to have any detrimental effect at all. Dutch, imo vw make these flywheels so the cars can be driven by every one on the planet, eg grannys going to the shops women (no offence lol) etc. the only downside is like henny says its easier to stall them if you are not careful. Theres one on my list.. -
Please excuse him, he only has the 8v corrado - it doesnt generate enough speed to create wiper lift lol  joke btw

fit a system from a mk4, there are loads of them about.

ere' herisites - have you ever done any track days up north at croft circuit? I know a load of r1 riding track day goers that you may have met/raced/crashed into/ran off the road. or they may have done all these things to you :D

I will be tracking mine also when I eventually finish building it

umm.....Mr Horrocks relocated his auxilliary waterpump to the old Vr location, so its certainly doable, dont know exactly what he did but I am sure he will let you know if you ask him nicely ;) afaik Mr H used all the vr kit, water housings etc.

I am touring from durham to Newquay on the fazer starting tomorrow, was just wanting some opinions on the A49? I have picked a route on the map that takes me down that road, then over the toll bridge and into what I call 'the bottom left bit of the country' lol ta

my god that is a very gay coloured rocker cover you have there  Is there something you want to tell us?

dead battery for me - definately.

sounds like the thermostat to me. I had the same thing on my mams motor. The temp lifts up to about 120 degrees and stays there.

Coxys R32 4 Motion Corrado - On the Road!!!!

nope you are wrong there mate, it hasnt moved an inch! pmsl  Not sure what pressure switch I have Jay, but reading the diagrams, the pressure activates a positive (white wire) that goes to the ecu, but also splits and goes to the fan control relay. I would have thought the fan control relay would not be interested in square waves. Correct me if I am wrong. I think the feature is called 'compressor ready' which lifts the idle to compensate for the extra load. Also Jay you said that the control unit flashes or does something when you energise it if there is something wrong, but mine has been fine so far. -
