the only reliable rr results i have post mods are 178 bhp and 175 lb ft at the wheels ( the correction software was knackered on the day) i added a reasonable 20% tranny loss figure to it i have 268 cams induction kit a 6 branch exhaust manifold (sounds sweeeeeeet) and a straight empty pipe to the backbox with a custom map

im probably gonna go for that iv also been offered a 3l conversion but iv no idea on price yet 2.9 rebore is lookin most likely but i want to know how safe 2nd hand 2.9 pistons are and how reliable is 3l??

as far as cams go i put 268s in my obd2 2.8 with a 6 branch manifold and a proper map it gained 25 bhp and 31 lb ft both at the wheels peak torque comes at 4500 rpm and peak bhp 5800-6000 rpm. the 268s have done bugger all to the idling its still sweet as a nut it pulls clean from BELOW tickover (obviously usin light throttle) it drives from 16mph an 5th! oh and my rev limiter was raised from 6200 to 6800 doesnt add any power but means 1/4 mile is done in 3rd (95-97mph terminal with 14.69 best time)

i understand that but i only need the 2.9 pistons not the block do pistons wear much? i dont want to goto 3l+ and neither do i have the funds i dont want a complete engine as my head was rebuilt 8k ago with 268 cams wheres the cheapest place for new 2.9 pistons and i dont mean forged

its no old wives tale iv had a belt from 1 woke me up i tell thee lol its not dangerous though but then again i repair tvs so am used getin whacked :lol:

i own a mk3 golf vr6 2.8 obd2 my piston rings are on their way out and i wanna take it to 2.9. the options i can see are buy a recon 2.9 block where and how much£?? or get a 2.8 block (i can get 1 for decent money) rebore to 2.9 fit new rings and 2nd hand 2.9 pistons i think they best way of gettin the pistons is buy a knackered 2.9 block???? anybody got 1 or know where i can get 1?? any other suggestions welcome

hm how much for an r32 conversion in a mk3 golf and does it include r32 gearbox? i live near them and know the lads at vwspares who are down the road from them and are mates

fi always give big bangs per buck u just increase the boost the biggest limitation to na engines is airflow period u can increase the amount of fuel all u like but if theres no more air coming in ur wastin ur time ps at the wheel is the figure that really counts corrected crank bhp is never going to be 100% accurate + its open to abuse -

iv got a golf vr6 highline (obd2) iv got a polished obd1 schrick starin at me and the tb piece for obd2 on order i cant wait to fit it i have a straight through zorst with a decatt and induction kit and it made 198 bhp and 187 lb ft at stealth recently cant wait to see what the schrick and remap will do to it -

put it this way golf r32s use EXACTLY the same engine as an audi s3 afaik but the audi makes somethin like 20 bhp more go figure i assume its in the mapping i also heard that amd move the temp gauge closer to the engins to get 10 bhp improvement but it dont mean its true lol lets just say im goin stealth and nowhere else -

the engine internals r easily upto 260-280 bhp :)

whats the difference between obd1/2 schrick vgi iv got an obd2 golf vr6 iv heard somethin about a bracket but dont know anythin else
