    VR6 Problems

sounds like yer coolant temp sensor is kaput..........mine was much and such the same a couple of weeks back.........its only £8+vat from yer local stealer and less than 30 mins to change
  4. i think you'll find its not VW that use shell.............more like the VW franchise that use it.......my local dealer buys in esso in bulk and uses that unless u specify synta
  5. 99% sure its only the VR that has the "plus" suspension
  6. big up to Henny gave me an oil-pressure sender on approval 2 months ago and is happy waiting til INTERS for payment  :D
  7. yip jim loves to take yer switch card and have a wee play with it....LOL :-P :-P
  8. dont think its the same engine as the PSA group use(puegeot/citroen etc).........might be much and such the same capacity etc but AFAIK Renault use their own-design engines and vice-versa with PSA
  9. right its either the factory immobilser or a fuse.......mine was playing up too just after xmas and turned out to be a blown fuse and a few relays had also worked loose
  10. because brake dust if left for ages like you seem to leave it on for isnt exactly taking care of them....from what ive heard the previous owner of said wheels kept them religiously clean.............what i've been trying to put across is this how do you know this prank has caused the damage to your wheels?............i would assume that the damage corralates to whatever was written on them???.....as for yer valve caps as i said previously i DOUBT very much anyone at the meet would do that..... but blame whoever or whatever for that but dont even try blaming me for yer caps and wheels  as i said to you i didnt know who did it ........as for my car of course i would be p***** off if someone deliberatly damaged it......but again thats the thing.....whoever did do this didnt do it to damage yer motor :!: if anything its been a prank gone wrong....but at the same time i cant see how yer wheels could be damaged by it  ........as for ppl who attend these meets mentality i would say the ppl who are there are sound enough
  11. which is fair enough but at the same time "you" dont go accusing ppl of damaging/stealing your property................when by the looks of it "you're" not exactly being too careful with it "yourself"............sorry if this sounds like i'm condoning it(which i'm not btw------it had feck all to do with me as i told struan)but at the same time i dont like ppl getting the blame for something that they more than likely didnt do
  12. for one thing struan.......i doubt very much if whoever did this.......did more damage to your wheels than the damage you have caused to them by letting brake dust bake on them for what looks like more than just a few days........IMO it looks like a few weeks of brake dust had accumulated on them   pretty sure the previous owner of the wheels wouldn't take too kindly to the state they were in........what you've also to got to remember too is that ppl aint grass's
  13. TBH struan should'nt this be "sorted" out with whoever was responsible instead of accusing them of damaging yer rims on the net......and as for stealing yer caps.......doubt very much anybody at the meet would have stolen them...........more than likely been whipped off outside yer flat.........
  14. ..........star-performance do the geometry for £40*+vat for Corrado-forum users too *this may increase if aditional remedial work is required

i think it also depends on whatever oil the VR has been fed since new......mine for instance has always had a diet of fully synthetic(normally synta-gold) since new and i get an oil-consumption of just under 2litres per oil-change(5k miles avg)
  16. yip very early VR's had the early interior along with some early 2.0 16v's.......
  17. LOL :-P :-P :-P    ...........don't let me get stevemac loose
  18. LOL.........anyway i'll move this into the general chat section

  22. also be advised that the water-temp guage aint the most accurate.....mine reads similar values to what your getting but yet when the temp is checked with VAG-COM its quite a bit lower

IIRC Star normally quote approx 10-12 hours labour for a head gasket change.......best to give them a phone and see what they'll charge tho............
  24. pretty sure its for all markets........cos the fascia panels are seemingly identical to the one that somebody(cant remember his name  ) from the forum fitted to his RHD one
  25. dont know of any thats your side of the pond......but you could try http://www.vagparts.com/ tho i dont know if they:- 1)ship to the states 2)would be any cheaper than your local VW dealer
