sorry but i very much doubt that later golfs used the 2.9 litre vr6 engine, even in other markets as they were always rated as 174bhp.....if you're going to convert a 16v into a vr6 then apart from the added cost of insurance and doing the conversion in the first place at the end of the day all your car would really be worth is the price of a 16v....its better to buy a sound Corrado vr6 in the first place than mess about with fitting a dubious engine which if its out of a golf then is 99% chance that its only a 2.8 hth

one other thing though is that in the vehicle registration document there is no mention of them being storms  and they are not the very last Corrado's manufactured either as i think probably the last ones built were actually 8-valvers so other than the 2 badges(one on the centre console and the other on the rear panel) and of course if you go for mystic blue there isn't any massive difference between a storm and a leathered up vr6.............so you really are paying quite a premium for a couple of badges and some bbs solitudes.............though i wouldn't swap mine for anything else...they are not the be all and end all of Corrado's......unlike jeremy's campaign
-
not from the factory......well not for r/h/d anyway.............but you could get it dealer-fitted or use an aftermarket company yourself
-
i was just laughing cos it was incredibly slow................NOT!!!!!!!...feck sake its fast!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Storms DO NOT come with A/C as standard....this is another common myth.........any Corrado or storm that has A/C has had it fitted by either one of very few stealers that could do this or by an aftermarket A/C company
-
you could also get a non-storm C in classic green and biege leather too

Can some one clear up with me IF VW split the vin in 96.....

there was no such thing as a 1996 model/model year Corrado................Corrado production ended in JUL 95.......with no Corrado production after that...............but as Corrado's were still for sale into 1996 a lot of people assume that they were still being made and also subject to 1996 model year changes....such as 288mm discs etc.....which mk3 golf vr6's had......vw's model year changes are cars built from JUL onwards...eg JUL97 build dates = a 1998 Model year car hth -
agree with jims16v there.............though it would also have to come with fvwsh,be in vgc, have as few as possible previous owners and of course be in rude health.............though be aware that there can be better spec vr6's with leather for less and of course most insurers rate the storm in group 19 as opposed to non-storm vr6's group 18 and of course it should be classic green with beige leather or mystic blue(purply looking in sunlight) with black leather................ hth

no but you might get a prize for being a bit short-sighted!! the thing to remember is that your Corrado is likely to be 12 years old at its youngest....so a lot of things will be wearing out and ending their service life.....your previous gti's etc might have been older but they probably too had similar problems appear but were probably fixed prior to you buying..........my first 2 weeks of corrado ownership resulted in a £75 bill just for a h/light switch....and thats was on a 38k mile 1-owner 6 year-old fvwsh example..............all german motors are pretty reliable but at the same time you have to be pretty reliable yourself with servicing and preventative maintenance and general mechanical sympathy with it
-
how could you forget the sheep pau1??
-
i think i'm not the only storm in cove bay now too :( passed a mystic blue storm turning into cove t'other night
-
yeah aberdeen has quite a few others too including by my reckoning at least 7 or 8 storms
-
as its a Corrado storm that i have it came as standard with a sony CDX-600DSP CD-tuner....which i've just recently taken out and fitted the pioneer head unit and cd-changer from my last car
-
so is it just me or does aberdeen seem to have the most Corrado-owners on this forum vr6storm pau1 munkay dubster82 cougs newcorradoowner paul grant(can't remember his forum handle....and soon to be ex-C owner) anymore takers or anymore places with more Corrado's.....bear in mind to that aberdeen is quite a small city.....approx 300,000 inhabitants

ignore the 8+ seconds times......................thats autocar's "long-term" test car's one.....which needed a new gearbox within 2000 miles  when new.....so it was obviously on its way out when they did their performance figures...........vw quote i think around the 7.5 seconds bracket
-
okay jimbo just a thought,as some early C's had the black interior and would you stop taking brilliant pics of your motor...........its making me begin to like modded C's too much now  ...............i must say you really have given it a modern re-working but still kept it pretty subtle too and not gone OTT.....good luck with the interior......its just a pity pau1 sold his black leather seats(no door cards tho)as part of his deal.......as they would have set your car off even more

Some piccies I took at todays AGM!!! (56k'ers Beware!)

as well you know....but we did have an auto at last weeks rolling-road day that was finished in ice grey violet.....have a look on the scottish region website and you'll see it.....the owner was wheelchair bound too....so he had vr6 power at the touch of his fingertips as for wheels the biggest size i would go up to is 16inch.........i too think 17's and 18's look a bit too big for the car....so your not alone kev m8 -
fwd drivetrain losses are more like 20-25% depending on wheels/tyres etc
-
and not all of them lift up at 45mph just early ones.....later ones lift at approx 56-60mph......and the first production ones(for the german market afaik) seemingly lifted at 80mph but cos of the speed limit here they reduced the activation speed so that uk drivers couldn't have been done for speeding and i'm sure you can adjust the activation speed too.............sure its on the american corrado owners site
-
i'm pretty sure the 1.8 16v in the Corrado is a kr-coded engine.....though double check with the vw-dealer first
-
why change the original mirrors 8) for common as muck(well especially over here in the uk)m3 mirrors  :? ..........stick with the originals..........it'll save you butchering the doors by removing the stock ones,or if you have to change go for porsche 911 ones like those NIKO sells anyway you can use the money you would spent on the m3 mirrors by getting a front-end respray, cos other than the front of your C,you've a very nice looking C there.....beautiful colour too
-
or if mj-interiors still have the "mushroom" coloured elec recaro seats they were asking approx £800 inc door cards and all plastics too....would look pretty smart......though it would only really work if you had black carpets/dashboard to be honest...............worth thinking about
