don't get me wrong scott m8.....i noticed a very small difference between 95RON and optimax......but to say that 95RON would result in losing almost 15bhp is a bit ott as for fluids and filters..........my annual service(by the local vw-stealer) was only performed at 51k in Dec 02 (and included a new fuel filter)and now after my wee foray into england its sitting on 56k btw i only use synta-gold my plugs were replaced in july last year at approx 47k and i only used the non-platinum ngk's and my air-filter is a K&N panel filter in a modded(but not swiss-chessed) airbox.......this was done at approx 48k as for the fault codes.....they were checked as soon as i got back to aberdeen....just to make sure that the abs ones were cleared after being on the rolling-road and to check that the camshaft pos sensor was behaving too....everything came up clear
-
the only flaw in that though scott is that when i first had my vr6 rolling-roaded in march 2002 i was also using 95RON (optimax wasn't readily available up here in aberdeen and i didn't notice any difference in performance between 95RON and Super u/l) and the figures i was making were pretty close to standard 187.5bhp and 183lb/ft.........all in all very strange

hi all, well as some of you may know,i took the plunge and went down to AmD for one of their custom re-chips.............a bit of a drive right enough...easy 450+miles one way anyway it was a funny set of "before" figures that i got..............180bhp & 177lb/ft   :? very strange considering that just a month prior my figures at the scottish region rolling-road day were 195bhp & 183lb/ft....now the only difference in the car between the star figures and AmD figures was that i used 95RON u/l for going down to AmD(on recommendation of a well-informed mate) and i used optimax and some octane booster for doing the star-performance rolling road day.......now there is no way that those wee differences could/would cause a 15bhp difference so i don't know if star's rollers were out or if AmD's were needing re-calibrated following their previous weekends rolling road day anyway my after figures showed an improvement of nearly 14bhp(well 13.9bhp to be precise) and 18lb/ft more.....giving figures of.......193.9bhp and 195.4lb/ft...so a fair improvement.........once on the road though the vr has a lot more urgency/pull to it and also seems to run a lot smoother giving just fractionally better mpg too so apart from my "dissapointing" figures its something well worth doing if you have a vr6 and i'll be getting the vr rolling-roaded again in the summer to see what sort of figures i get from star btw here's the scottish region rolling road figures Venue: STAR Performance. also all vr6's should have abs fitted, rear centre armrest,elec-sunroof,e/w and mirrors

right then here is what a storm has over a standard vr6 BBS "solitude" alloy wheels(6.5X15....same sizes as speedlines(solitudes are also standard-fit on golf vr6 hi-lines and golf gti-colour concepts) Colour-coded front grille Classic green paintwork(shared with other Corrado models)or Mystic blue paintwork(storm-only colour) beige leather(classic green paint-only) black leather(mystic blue paint-only) heated seats(all factory fitted leather has this) rear panel storm badging centre console storm badging(replaces karmann badge) Sony CDX-600DSP cd-head unit NBAir-con is only a dealer-fit option and was never part of the standard Storm-spec and it is also possible to have a non-storm vr6 with a higher spec than a storm.........goodies such as.....A/C,elec leather recaro interior, headlight washers, cruise control, additional intsrutments
-
its quite rare.........but it won't really make your g-60 worth more......it'll make it easier to sell tho

oh i forgot.....STRICTLY NO SAXO's....hehehehe -
hi all, finally getting my asre in gear and getting this organised the date: sunday 4th may 2003 the time:from 10am til 12noon...then a wee drive out to have a look at the RS-owners show...NB this is not in anyway to wind up any of the RS people...so if anyones going to be a t!t about it....then don't come the venue:Duthie park,Aberdeen....(Riverside drive entrance) so hopefully see and put a lot of names to faces from the aberdeen lot....of course everyone else from the forum is invited but somehow i think the distance might be a wee issue
-
sounds like fighting talk there nige!!
-
thats what i was trying to put across..........i think i drive my vr reasonably hard...til my m8 told me i drive like i'm "driving miss daisy"............
-
20vt's are gonna be so common why not put a cult engine into a cult vee-dub ..keep the g-lader as it was ment for the corrado and just aint the same without it!!! (sorry all vr owners! ) at last someone who can see the future and how all these 1.8t conversions are going to make a 1.8t converted Corrado not as desirable as an original engine'd one.......
-
it also depends on which colour and if its cloth or leather interior too.....as pau1 has just bougth a 93K vr6 with leather elec recaro interior with 86k miles and fsh(most vw-rest vw specialist) for the huge sum of £3.5k.....though it was in the less desirable white and is just needing some minor fettling to.......then again it is 10 years old afterall so anything between £3.5k and £5k would be the value of your one
-
0-60 times all have one main influencing factor that people forget about.........it all depends on how brutal the driver is with the clutch...remember when magazines do performance testing they're not exactly being kind to the clutch......i wouldn't feel happy about "side-stepping" or "dumping" the clutch at over 4k revs in my motor just to get to 60 in under 7 seconds
-
best thing to do if money is tight is to just buy a set of lowering springs......though it will always be a compromise at least its better than chopping the springs
-
it is possible to convert a 16v to use a g-lader but it won't be cheap.......best thing to do is give Darren.@ http://www.pd-motorsport.co.uk a bell....he will be able to advise and possibly do the work for you btw all g-60's are 8-valve
-
AFAIK.....the answer is yes......get on the phone to mj-interiors as they have just done a set for a mk1 golf
-
my pet hates are.....(in no particular order) 1)Buses........run by massive companies that get subsided fuel and help from the govt...to try and get us off the road thru sneaky schemes like bus lanes(creates more congestion than before) and try to make us look like we pollute the planet etc 2)Speed cameras/traps on roads that have a too low a speed limit for the type of road and are more for generating money than for road safety....bastids 3)Inconsiderate parkers........cnuts that park inches away from your C and then open the door(normally letting it hit your car)without taking care.....bastiding cnuts 4)Repmobiles........these are always hard up yer ass when your C is still warming up and you can see they get a bit smug as they overtake you doing 8k revs while you are limiting yourself to under 3k revs til your oil warms up.......why can you never meet them when your oil is over 80 degrees c sure i'll be able to think of more
-
on mine the main c/l pump is hiding in the boot under the cover roughly beside where the fuel flap would be.....make sense?????
-
cheers scott  :? :(
-
i think all us scottish owners/users should be exempt from this "stealth" "C" tax  LOL nah seriously i'll easy donate a fiver!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
as far as i'm aware the C has a vacuum pump central locking system......so it would presumably have wee tubes for the air to travel???????....maybe they only cut the wires and ignored the tubes???? only thing i can think off
-
right having been "mugged" by pau1 in his old g-60 i would like to put my views on this VR6 pros- :D 190-ish bhp straight out the box nice engine note/induction roar smoother/refined drive....ideal autobahn crusier still has a bit of kudo's to those in the know ABS as standard..........if its still working of course  reasonable economy for engine size VR6 cons- standard suspension sits way too high....imho too front heavy makes you paranoid if the temp guage starts to rise engine parts can be a tad ott priced coil-packs prone for fcuking up big investment needed for decent performance gain group 18 ins group(19 for storm) G-60 pros- :D more power gained for relatively little expense(compared to vr6) slightly lower than vr6 suspension better balanced in standard form almost as quick as the vr6 and very little in it during day-to-day driving good B-road blaster quite rare these days better fuel economy charger not as fragile as it made out to be lower ins rating G-60 cons- but if charger goes.....if you can find a new one too.....£1k+ not as refined as the vr6 getting a bit long in the tooth too older style interior........(personal one here btw) ABS quite a rare bit of kit well thats all from the top of my head.........but it all depends on which you prefer driving in my opinion the g-60 would be marginally cheaper to run than the vr6 and just slightly cheaper to fix if it all went horribly wrong though the vr6 will always be the more in demand model.....though i reckon people in the know will go for the g-60 for the ease/cheapness of performance enhancements though whatever Corrado you own/drive etc......your driving a bit of class
-
there's a couple of "foreign" C's in aberdeen.......a german one which if i remember rightly is blue and a purpley coloured one which needs some paintwork on i think spanish plates
-
and you forgot squeak squeak!!!!!
