its not G***NKY or similar??.....if it is then thats a well tidy C as for meets in aberdeen i'll try and arrange one for either the last sunday in april or the first sunday of may.......... one word of advice.......join the vwccgb(corrado club) asap....its only £15pa and you'll save that in dealer discount with parts
-
who me???? the offer is still there too...if of course mr"halliburton"gets back to you(and aberdeen of course)
-
to dubster82 and munkay........as i said to jimr it was really a totally unofficial "meet" in that joeM was coming up to view paul grant's vr6 and so that joeM could also compare pau1's new vr6 and my storm to it....so he could see how good a vr6 that he was buying and of course i have a favour to ask of joeM when he picks his new motor up...........i'm sorry if you 2 guys were feeling left out over it but the main purpose was to let joeM and paul grant do some negotiating and get a deal sorted out....which they did  hence why i didn't bother phoning or letting you 2 know about it ...........but don't worry i'll be organising a official meet for either the last sunday in april or the first sunday in may as another "pre-gti-international" meet.....and of course you'll both be attending i hope
-
hehe..........mark you know it makes sense
-
hmmm  that vr6 looks familiar  and it was nice meeting you and your cuz............i think a few more spins in the vr might get him ditching his alfa....i got the impression he was well impressed with your new motor
-
hi jim, yeah long time no-speak.................we actually had the wee meet(totally an unofficial one btw) today(saturday)....well it was only for joeM to view paul grant's vr6....which he has "shook hands" on and for him to compare to my storm and paul allan's(h16 vpa) new vr anyway seen you and your motor 8) last saturday......you might remember getting "flashed at" by a "stranger" in a rover in inverurie around 11am....well it was me
-
you should check this thread out fry  http://www.atx-hosting.co.uk/corrado/fo ... .php?t=181
-
thats not your scirocco storm 8) in this months vw-motoring mag by any chance jez
-
its not so much as a power gain you get from drilling the air-box more noticable should be improved throttle response and of course a meatier induction roar...........although drilling(swiss-cheesing) the airbox is a cheapish mod its works better if you include a k&N panel filter(£30+ish)although i've got a modded airbox in mine its not swiss-cheesed....my mate has removed the "snorkel" and smoothed as well as enlarged the opening at the front.....once it was fitted the first thing i noticed was a very improved throttle response and the engine pilled a lot harder to the redline
-
you'll find most running gear bits are relatively cheap.....but vr6 engine parts and specific to Corrado trim bits ain't.......
-
well if you can make it to inters.....i might well be taking the storm down....as dubster82's g-60 has a few minor niggles that need attended to before going on a 600 mile trip

Its the main pump thats buzzing, ive heard that it can be caused by the lift pump in the tank failing. Ive suspected the pump for a while and have got a new one waiting to go in, the car doesnt really like moving away under 2000 rpm and jumps a bit and I dont know if im paranoid about it or not but it doesnt seem to rev the way id expect it to. Im allowing about 3 hours journey time tommorow and am leaving here about 10. Ive to give paul a phone when im at Stonehaven and hes meeting me on the road in to Aberdeen I think. Should be around 1 ish. joe i should be finished at europcar by 1pm so should meet you and the 2 pauls too.....are you still able to do that wee favour tomorrow?or are you wanting to leave it til you pick up the new vr not bad a wee corrado meet in aberdeen eh 8) .....hopefully the fog will have lifted by then
-
you've lost me there munkay.....how do you think i don't like your g-60??? as far as i know the only criticsm i've made about it is the toooooo LOUD exhaust and those cheesy wiper blades although i wouldn't swap my storm for any other Corrado(well maybe a campaign and cash  ) i really think a modded g-60 is what i should have went for in the beginning
-
i think mr haywire is getting his dates muddled up............yes i am going down to AmD in april.........but its april the 10th my motor is booked in for a re-chip  8) ..........so kev are you still up for meeting up on the 10th????....let me know either way m8
-
if you've got between £3-£4k to spend then i suggest going for the g-60.........as you can get a good one for under the £2.5k mark spend the remaining £1.5k on g-lader rebuild and whatever fetlling is needed....who knows maybe even a chip and pulley(which would of course give vr6 beating performance) if you go for a vr6 then you'll be lucky to get a good one for under £3k and then if you have any problems with it they are quite bit more to fix and most of the engine parts are a lot dearer....and it costs quite a bit to get more power from too but don't just believe me.....ask munkay on this forum as he bought a good condition 91J g-60 for £2.3k spent approx £1.8k on stage4 rebuild, chip, pulley and general fettling and now he has a vr6 beater
-
or here is an alternative............. g6o engine, box, charger, cooler, thelot all ready for conversion re advertised due to time wasters £900 o.n.o check out the parts for sale section on this here forum http://corrado.atx-hosting.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=972 >-MOD EDIT and i'm sure pau1 could explain the ins and outs of doing this....as he's just sold his 16v changed to 8v g-60(vr6-beater).............and it won't need as much changes as doing the vr6 conversion either
-
from memory blown's g-60 doesn't have abs
-
btw maybe being a bit pedantic etc but if its from a synchro(hence why the guy claims its a 2.9 vr6)then its not from a "standard" golf vr6.....sorry for being all doom and gloom but this really does seem the wrong way to go......like kevhaywire says go for a Corrado vr6 from the start
-
nah he said it went as fast as a bus!! LOL had a wee drive of pau1's one the other night too....................still grinning   ..........god sometimes i wish i went down the g-60 route now :!: :!:

oh i agree there are pros and cons to it but imho the cons seem to outweigh the pros also VR6 (tom?)alright rewiring your C would have been a bit of a nightmare but all you were really getting done was basically fitting a new wiring loom to replace your cars fried one....not trying to make it seem easy btw.......but whereas 16valver here is converting an early 16 valve to a spec that his car wasn't originally engineered for....again not that i'm saying that there are vast(if any) differences between early 16v's and vr6's bodyshells either.........but there is a wee bit more to just swapping the engine over, and if the engine has only done 74klms(approx 45k miles) then whoever is offering it to 16valver is giving it away as i would reckon the engine alone would be worth at least £1k if not more and another £2-300 for the g/box again if not more.....so he is going to basically give 16valver all that and fit it for around £200............something well wrong there imho..........also has this garage/mechanic fitted a vr6 engine to an earlier corrado in the past....that he thinks its just a straight "drop-in"? as jims16v said if somethings "too good to be true then it isn't true" hth
-
jez its about time you took and posted more detailed pics of your campaign 8) on here
-
not trying to steal your thunder btw john
-
or if your handy.......have a look on the corrado-uk yahoo group as their is detailed description of what you need and how to do it........i think its under the files section.....in all it should cost you around £10+ to diy
-
fair doos.....never knew the synchro was a 2.9  .................but i find it strange that this garage didn't tell you it was from a golf synchro in the first place and just said later golf vr6's had the 2.9 lump fitted.........and as for £1650 fitted with all neccasary parts included and a head gasket, that is very cheap as in very dodgily cheap,as you'll need the donor vehicles ecu and other small incidentals such as a new C vr6 speedo etc.....and i don't think a mk3 golf radiator will fit a corrado as you'll be needing that too and of course the later bonnet for clearance at the end of the day its your money/car/decision....but imho this sounds pretty dodgy and more than likely going to end up more expensive than what you've been quoted and of course you'll find major problems getting an insurance company to cover it too.....as the car was originally engineered for the engine that'll be in it.......of course you don't have to tell them but if/when you have a crash, they'll aside form not paying out will "blacklist" you too hth
-
given a choice and of course if they were both in the same condition i would go for the campaign now which i think is worth easy up to a couple of grand premium over a similar age vr6........if you could live with the brick-red interior  which not a lot of people like.....but i do the only minus point imho is the older style heater controls
