  1. just as paul says..........i'm just paranoid
  2. if your going to replace the tyres pretty soon(in the next month or so)i would get the tyres done first and then the alignment done
  3. i think its something to do with the timing chain tensioner in the vr6 that can fcuk up if the car is bump-started.....so your g-60 is ok
  4. i bet its also got the "ltd edition" karmann interior too  like jims16v has mentioned the only limited editions that you are likely to encounter in RHD form are the campaign(v v very rare 6 made in total)and the storm(250 in storm-only mystic blue/black leather and 250 in classic green/beige leather...10 of each being automatics)....none of these are likely to be had for the £5k mark unless mega-miles or poor condition be aware of leather'd up vr6's being sold as storms too........storms were only available from April-95 to late summer 96 anything being sold as a storm prior to April-95 IS NOT A storm
  5. dubster82 has only just turned 20 and his insurance is,from memory,just over £1k.....TPF&T
  6. Sorry guys but I don't like corrado in standard form ....... boy-racer around here have 7x17 under there arches... I never come across corsa with 9x16 et15 fair enough.....each to their own and all that  .................but still think its too boy-racer(not necassarily corsa-boys) looking for my liking....sorry if this offends you its just some constuctive criticsm.........at the end of the day its your cash/motor/inclination
  7. of course it all depends on the driver and how far he/she would be prepared to push their C..........i for one have had a few scary moments in my Vr cos of their on-limit handling probs.....due to the standard suspension set-up....more geared for autobahn cruising than the standard G-60 set-up which imo is better suited to most roads you encounter in day-to-day driving just my 2p's worth
  8. High ? - Are you mad? *:) Thats TWO 5 litre cans of oil... = £20 Air Filter Oil Filter SIX NGK Spark Plugs for £53.... and that is CCGB Trade Parts Prices *:) d'oh  ......scott i think "Supercharged" was meaning what scotcorradog60 paid  ......so calm down calm down
  9. paul...................the g-60 has a manufacturers 0-60 time of somewhere in the region of 7.5 secs....................but there was a few early g-60's(most notably autocars longterm test one)that had g/box problems early on.........hence why autocar's long-termer only managed it in 8.9secs.......slower than what they managed to get from a 1.8 16v Corrado that they also tested.....the only Corrado that would have similar figures to 9.1 secs is the 2.0 16v (from 92) but if you think that a un-modded g-60 would be slow.........then you obviously haven't come across one or driven one
  10. as a rough guide.........if your C was first registered before August 90 its classed as being a pre-90 model year(MY) example..........if it was registered after August 1990 then its got a good chance of being a 1991 model year one.........though of course its got an equal chance of being a late registered 90(MY) one VW's model years run from AUGUST to JULY........eg.....Sept 1990 build date = a 91(MY) car...........June 1990 buld date = a 90(MY)car btw if you get in contact with VW's customer care line in whatever country your in and give them chassis number details they should be able to tell you straight away what (MY) your Corrado is
  11. i prefer the 5-spokes myself......the 2nd ones look too fussy and 21st century imho
  12. sorry guys.....just can't see the attraction with putting too wide wheels on the C....imo it looks so boy-racer/max power etc......and just doesn't suit the C's shape at all...............but then again i'm an old fart
  13. What I meant smart alec is that both cars were blue *:) His was a darker blue too mine and a storm therefore assume it was mystic blue - no idea as havent seen mystic blue in the flesh *:) but cars are made out of metal not flesh...........call me a smart alec and i'll act like one too.......LOL
  14. NNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOO  jim not M3 mirrors...............this saxo owning has brought the boy-racer out of you and unleashed it on us
  15. also heard the koni aftersale service is 2nd to none...normally next-day delivery of replacement parts.....whereas FK's can take up to 3 weeks to replace bits
  16. WTF!!! *:) - so how comes its the most powerful naturally aspirated V6 engine of its time? VW were also the first people to put a V6 engine into a FWD power train!!! pretty sure the alfa 164 3.0 beat the vw in power and by having fwd v6 power
  17. thats why you see in this forum everybody with a vr6 needing advice on their broken timing chain
  18. a bit doubtful as pau1's 93K-plate vr6 has the recaro leather interior and all the 93 model facelift features......rotary heaters, window switches above speakers etc........... sounds to me like the 94 Corrado that supplied your interior had the earlier interior retro-fitted............or it could have been an late-registered early vr6
  19. well the difference on the road is quite noticable....so at the end of the day i've got an improvement........who knows it might even make over 200bhp when i next get it rolling-roaded as for my service intervals......my annual mileage actually works out to near enough 10k pa........even if it was less my car still gets its annual inspection on the dot.......first week in december and in between i get the oil changed every 6 months.... as for changing the plugs every 5k miles..........do they come out looking shagged or is it maybe just pyschological that they feel different to you.......afterall the service interval for the non-platinum tipped ngk's(vw's recommendation) is 20k as opposed to the 40k limit for their platinum counterparts though as you say most of my mileage is in fact town driving so i obviously have to give it some more "italian tune-ups" and i've also been told that rolling-roads are more or less just a rough guide to what an engine produces....its just my main surprise was that i had been told by a few well-informed sources that AmD's rollers were prone to giving a wee bit more flattering figures than would normally be expected
  20. to be honest the Corrado vr6's engine management is a bit primative compared to the engine management of the likes of the 1.8t's.....for example most 1.8t's have "drive-by-wire" technology.......so i would reckon that a 1.8t could loose more power on a lower octane rating.........i could of course be completely way of the mark there though
  21. hi kev m8...............so far since the re-chip(touching lots of wood)the vr has behaved its self very well.......i've noticed in general it s alot smoother running and is pulling a wee bit better since getting back on to its normal diet of optimax....all in all if you're near AmD and have £300 spare kicking about i would strongly recommend that you go for the re-chip
