Logical progression, i do like the E46 M3 and it might be a progression i make at some point. Or just wait for the E92 prices to drop a bit more

Good news on the wiring side of things, not so good regarding the bottom end. I hate people who sell stuff as something that it is not especially when it is not easy to check. Having said that it has decent spec and it goes well so bolt it back together and enjoy
-
I will, best of luck.

I understand the ecu fires the injectors by switching the earth @ 12v. So I wonder if the ecu at less than than 12v might well switch the injectors for too long causing over fuelling?
-
I am just wondering if you are getting blow by on the head gasket. If the head has not been skimmed properly you might get this when cold but when up to temp the expansion may cause this to close and therefore run fine. I agree get that head off, those cylinders should all be black I would have said.
-
I would have a really close look at your injectors, you say they are green but i know there are 'other' green injectors out there. Based on what you have said it seems the only area to look at. Check the wiring whilst you are at it

Brute force is the only way if you don't have the right tool. Just get a spanner on it and push down. Be careful that it does not slip though as you could do some damage to yourself

Lots of anger round here, have to say that this is not as straight forward as it seems. Yes fuel prices could drop a little more but if you look at the price of unleaded 4 years ago it was 119.1 on average, what are we at now? Something like 123.00. So then take into account exchange rates between the $ and £, which actually based on today's rate of $1.57 to £1, was very very similar 4 years ago. So maybe we could see a 4p per litre drop. Also bear in mind the crude oil rates are described as being next months delivery rate, so maybe we will see some reductions even further going into December.
-
Are you having to top up the oil much to keep at the top of the dipstick?
-
£120 delivered. (I see it worth £80 for ecu and £40 for the installed chip)
-
If the charger seals have blown you will get blue smoke out of the exhaust. Have you changed the oil return from the charger to the engine at all? If it is old and partly blocked you may get a bit of oil forcing through the seals. Just looking at your photo though i think it looks near enough normal. I have just put a newly refurbed charger on mine and there is a film of oil in the boost pipes. It is when you have large pools of it everywhere that you really have problems. You do need to sort that silencer box out though as you will be losing boost.

Another earth is the strap to the gearbox, in all cases you won't do any harm cleaning them up anyway. The good news is that for the time being the ECU is man enough for the spec you are running. Let me know if none of the above works as it may indicate an issue with your ecu. I happen to have a spare ecu with a Jabbasport chip to run standard injectors (i am running reds now).

Based on what you have said - a few things to check. The earths, particularly the ones that connect to the side of the head and the strap that runs from the throttle body to the rain tray. Check your ECU boost hose. it needs to be exactly 1m long and in good condition, if in doubt replace. Check the microswitches on the throttle body. First check that both click for idle and WOT. Then check resistance, I don't have the figures but a quick search on the net will throw those up. Check your fuel pressure regulator on the end of the fuel rail for damage, one of the nipples was bent on mine meaning my fuel pressure was out. I assume you are running a standard ECU and injectors at the moment?
-
What spec are you running? Usually there is a suitable off the shelf chip option for common G60 tuning. On the limited info you have given it sounds like you may have a sensor problem, wiring fault or it just needing a proper set up before resorting to a live map.

Best email OCD direct for faster answers, Matt is usually pretty good at replying.

That is way more porting than a stage 4 if my recent Jabbasport charger is anything to go by.
-
OK spot on to what I was thinking, let me know when it is ready and I will pay you then,

Ok no rush, just swapping mine back to to proper Mk2 Golf spec having got Mk3 ones in there at the moment. How much?
-
OK great let me know how much posted if you find one
-
i.e. the squarer type, the one that also was standard in a later Mk2 Golf. Good condition please.

So it is getting hot on the needle in the car, but it is not overheating and boiling over? If that is the case I would say that the gauge in the car is reading slightly out. I seem to remember a G60 I had would go up to 110 in traffic. The one in my Mk2 never gets to half, even when sat in traffic. If you are really worried you can get an 80 degree C thermoswitch which is what I am running now.
