  1. Yeah i know they can go on well past 88k with no major work needed, but im happy to get another lump to put in it. Knowing that its running well etc. plus good way to spend time and money. Is there anyone out there thats got a ke-jetronic with good performance figures that could suggest some reletivley easy mods. Im almost definately going to put the webber throttle body on it. Cheers Fraser
  2. Thanks for your help Henny and everyone-once i do this and fit new engine (could be few months) il post up my results. Cheers Fraser
  3. Thats a very impressive machine.Am i correct in saying that the skirts are off a calibra?were they easy to fit? Cheers Fraser
  4. Oh this is an old topic-but a relevant one for me. Well if i manage to get my hands on one. Ok so to install this throttle body,i dont need to buy anything except the actual throttle body itself? These brackets that need to be made up for the microswitches do they need to be mounted roughly where the are in the engine at the moment? and what happens to the airbox and everything connected to it when doing this mod? Cheers Fraser
  5. Ok,iv got a 1.8 16v Raddo. The engine has only done 88k but has been hammerd early in its life so its not the best. I can get my hands on the same engine from a Jetta of the same year. I noticed when looking at it that it has the larger inlet manifold (guessing same as mk2 golfs). I remember reading somewhere that the golfs had more power than the raddo-is this correct, if so whats the output? Bassically im going to overhaul the engine anyway before i put it in the car. I would like to get the engine so that its running very sweet im not too bothered about big bhp & I do not want to merge it with the bottom end off a 2.0 16v. I would like to tune the basic engine though and would like advice on good things to do and where to get the parts from price etc. Would rolling road benifit it aswell? Im from central scotland so if theres any good places for this kind of work near me that anyone knows of please let me know. Cheers Fraser
  6. After last sundays incident when the gear selector cable broke and i noticed i needed a new gator on the driveshaft. Iv been without a car for a week until tonight (only got some interior things to put back on) it feels great to have the car under me instead of me under it. iv been driving around in my Mothers HDI 306 which is a fairly quick little car but doesnt have any sort of grunt or feel to it at all. I honestly dont know how some of you guys & gals can be without your car for the lenghts of time that some of you do through choice or not!!! Cheers Fraser
  7. Hi there, thats a very nice looking car-can i just confirm the wheels as Votex from Wheel Mania? iv been toiling over these wheels for a while, think i may have just been swung towards them now. Do they come with the polished lip?Any problems with them fitting? Cheers Fraser
  8. I think that place in Hilington ind est is where aguy from my uni got his wheels from.from what i can remember he got them at a good price and they looked good-mibby there prices are just competitive. Cheers Fraser
  9. Hi there, i always put shell optimax in gets more mpg with it-with out it its rubbish. Cheers Fraser
  10. Ok,im replacing my gear selector cable as the old one has broke. i have removed the heatsheild etc.The base plate under the linkage looks little confusing.Iv removed the four bolts on the underside of the car and the two from inside the car. The plate is still inplace-i have noticed that there are little bits of it bent holding it on,am i correct in thinking that if i bend these i will be able to access the linkage? whats the best way to drop the exhaust?? Cheers Fraser
  11. Now thats a cramped engine bay!! Cheers Fraser
  12. It replaces your airfilter-basically its a perfomance one. Cheers Fraser
  13. Right fugured it out-its the little bracket on the end of the gear change cable thats broke,as opposse to the gate cable. does anyone know how much this cable costs? could the little bracket be replaced or is it the full cable? and if they are hard to fit?? Cheers Fraser

  15. Today was heading home from work got stuck behind a sunday driver-eventually they turned the other way-so as u do i gave it some punch went to put it in third and......nothing just revs (thought id not put it in gear properly)but then realised id broke somit.so pulled over gave the trusty mechanic a call (father)-had we look under the hood.I dont know how to describe this part-the wee bit that is in a _] shape at the end of the gear cable has totally snapped (wear & tear). if you know what im talking about you maybe able to tell me if just the kind of bracket thing can be replaced or is it the full cable? Think Henny would be able to help-remember reading uv got urs in bits just now. Cheers Fraser
  16. I dont think mine has them-il double check tomorro. iv got an early car though. Cheers Fraser

    Windows key fob

Yeah Gavin sounds like the same thing here. Basically if my Mother would be patient when she forgets things in the car it would be fine but u know what women are like! The drivers side used to do it-but after about half a hour of pressing buttons and fiddling with keys they were both fine. Now it just seems to be the passengers side that for some reason is opening-atleast if the drivers side done it she would notice and close it. Came up the drive wrecked the other night had wee look at Raddo then noticed the Golfs window was wide open! Begining to think perseverence with reminding my mother is the only solution! Cheers Fraser
  18. I hope they dont find a replacement anytime soon too-it just wont have the evil stance of the real raddo itl be all girly and haidresser like (no offense to any females in the group and hairdressers ((my mums of each both))) And Nodoubt itl be user friendly-whats the world coming too-who the hell wants that. Cheers Fraser
  19. Hi iv colour coded my side strips, now for the handles. When doing side strips i just rubbed down and cleaned then sprayed they came up really well.then i laquired then. Im just looking for tips for doing the handles-like; 1. remove them from the car? 2. paint the bit that is shown when the handle is pulled? 3. best way to protect the actual lock where the key goes without the finish being naff? 4. how long should i expect the full job to take? any other info would be grately appreciated il def use undercoat for the handles though. Cheers Fraser
  20. Just noticed this thread-Its so Fcukn ugly its BEAUTIFUL Cheers Fraser
  21. Well, around a year ago when i got the car i got a cat 1 imob fitted. Then the drivers door handle broke. So i had all the inner door card & lining off. Sounds silly but fcukn hurt-i was driving out of B&Q pressed button for window to go down got my hand traped between window going down and door-the switch fell between window and the door,i couldnt reach it. Thought i was going to lose my hand! Had to shout for a passer by to take the keys out ignition and do the door thing! Thats the last time i remember using it. I havnt had anthing else fitted or changed so il look into the fuse relay area. Cheers Fraser
  22. Ok when i first got my rado i could stick my key in the door turn it and hold it there and the window would open-likewise if i turned it the other way it would shut- but now it doesnt do anything-any ideas? Cheers Fraser

    Windows key fob

This is for a MK3 gti.my rado doesnt hav a key fob but i believe the later ones do. On my fathers Golf when he presses the button to open the car the passenger window goes down (say half way) but when he presses the button to lock the car it only goes up to 3/4 shut. Surely this can be reset?any info would be good. Cheers Fraser
