  1. BP best for torque Tesco best for power Optimax arguably the best allrounder, but king of neither power or torque. Ive read 2 reports that both came to this conclusion, with some very fancy testing equipment and consistant tempertures/environments etc etc.
  2. Can't beleive you dropped one Daz, thats lower than my splitter.
  3. mmmmm 250GTO, now your talking !! will try this tommorrow. its touched 1.06ltr here recently!!
  4. nice one mate, cant wait, i repeat, cant wait to here this puppy at full chat. just get in it and drive drive drive!!
  5. well we allways take our little chap out and put him in curb side, common sense. and we both allways park at the far end of the car park. did this the other day and when we came out of the shop there were about 300 free spaces and my car sat where i left it on its own miles from anyone with a feck off rust old trani van parked right along side it ffs. no damamge but i have had it before. I had a massive argument with a chap once. just had my mik1 fully resprayed, guy pulls up and wammed his door in the side of mine. when i jumped out and said thanks, he said and i quote "did i do that, ar well its dented mine aswell and walked off". i went back later on and did every panel, all 4 tyres and 5 windows (screen was too stubon). I have felt so good about that for years afterwords, dont care what anyone says, people like that need to learn. i look at it this way. a panel round here, blended is £300+ done properly. so someone dooring me is no different from me walking into their house and smahing their television to peices. for some strange reason i doubt theyd see it the same but i do, i can see no difference at all. I dont do disabled bays, just park far away. but i can see why people do it. its another problem with this country, spaces are way to narrow as they try to cram in more and make more money as usual. america is great, the cars are bigger yeah but the spaces are miles bigger again.
  6. i resent that comment, my first car was an austin 1300GT and it was great, ehum. Until i got in the car one day having left my keys in the pocket, straightened my leg to strectch and get them out and put my foot straight through the inner wing!! Nice rust proofing! Hyundi acent or should i say accident is a pig aswell.
  7. Ive had a de-airbagged R32 wheel for eons, but could'nt find a way to fit it. Would be very interested in the outcome, although ill prob sell the 32 one tbh as i like mine now!
  8. pmsl............not on the bike though ;-)
  9. ive changed my own suspension and a load of stuff on my car including the sump etc etc, but i still find changing the plugs, more over getting the actually leads back on without pulling them back out removing the tool, one of the most frustrating chores on the car! so thumbs up, and also halfords pro stuff rocks.
  10. Prepare to laugh uranus off, but we had a new polo 3 clyinder oil burner in at the weekend. Yes its sounds like a deisal at idle, but when you hold it at revs and close your eyes it sounded just like a 60s Le Man Porsche. ie like the blue and orange gulf ones. or at least a flat six anyway. Honest it really did !! :cuckoo: anyone else notice this and prepared to back me up
  11. imo the straight sixes dont sound as good. id rather have a pre Rusky one two out of principle!
  12. best sound on earth! get the 4.3, best for torque but not as fragile as the 5 litre, which had lots of problems. wont stop the rest of the car falling to peices everytime you walk past it though ;-)
  13. just makes um look french imo, dont like it. but as allways each to their own. i've tried worse, but taken it off and back to standard, without posting any picks lol!
  14. 5x100 not a problem lots about with varying dishes
  15. nice one Neil, well chuffed for you bud, if a little jelous!! Think i was running a Wreg metro 1.3s at 23 :-( Good on yu
  16. wuw, sorry to here about this Henn! I'm thinking you have fuel, you have spark, you have compression etc etc etc, but you have no combustion in 1 & 2, the only thing you can possibly missing from the equasion is oxygen/fuel into the cylinder surely? perhaps you have a cracked inlet manifold, knowing how hard you drive your car and the heat that is generated!! thats my 2 penneth anyhoo, sounds like a right b.ll ache though, but hey, its ALLWAYS the last flocking thing you test ;-(
  17. sorry to here your porker has to go. but over the moon you will be c'd up again. guess we had better all keep our eyes peeled for a belter!
  18. Nice one bud. Your going to love the soundtrack! PICKS!
  19. this gear still available here??? after a starter kit if possible?
  20. id say 4.5k, but then that leather has quite a premium these days! This doesnt make it easy. Its like chargers, nobody sells them on the car. A decent well looked after fairly original and very tidy VR seems to be 4-4.5k+ and sell the leather seperately, as youd prob get around 1k for that. Yes we have all seen them for 2-3k, but i looked at 20+ 5k piles of cr.p when looking for mine, and still bought a load of trouble!! But you also still see them in the trader of between 5 and 6.5k all the time round here and they are not in there 2 weeks in a row. Almost impossible to say. I got offered a silly amount for mine by an old boy in a car park, more than id ever get advertising. But i cant think of what id replace it with for £15-20k, let alone well below 10?

Not sure its for me, because im a scaredy cat, but....... your mentallists, i love it :-) and respect for taking it on ;-) I also love reading this stuff, so keep it coming!
  22. ummmm interesting, that looks good. especially as a lot of us are running cars of an age where the down pipe is due to fail!! do the stainless manis not have a rep for cracking??
  23. there is a printable and very usefull buyers guide on here. unfortunately i cant figure out how to do a link to it for you. try the search, while i get my act together! :-)

    DSG

ive driven one very breifly and you will love it, but, everyone ive spoken to has had reliability issues from small glitches to replacement units. Think Kev has some info on these iirc
  25. i was saying to Kev i reckon you could have some flush centre caps made up for the mo's, and then they would look even better! ive seen people make them for abt's, quite a different look but i recon it would work on these nicely.
