mine was on 135k on the original clutch/chains etc etc when i fitted the charger and added 100hp. it still seems happy!

urrr, what passat have you got, becuase we are after one to replace the Vento VR !?

i thought theyd pepped up a bit in value tbh. Lots in the late 2ks up to 3500 it seamed for a good one a few months back. But now for decent ones we seem to be back to 4-5k+ Suspect as mentioned that will come down again for the winter though. TBH i think they will level off now and you will allways pay 4-5k for a good one, and nowadays it will depend on what refreshing of expensive tired components you've done too, the more subtle the better if modified. Personally i'd take one hell of hit in the face if i sold it. :-(

sounds like a cable has come out of the clip that holds the sleeve in, so your moving the whole thing, not actually moving the wire inside the sleeve which needs to be captive. cant be sure though, as mines the later type, but sounds same symptoms i had

Ill second that, everyone i've spoken too in the trade said its not worth it tbh. I thought it was strange, but then i guess theres 2 answer i can guess at. As its a single head and by all accounts quite complex maze of water ways etc theres little room left or scope for heavy flow work. secondly, i guess its pretty good out of the box! Inlet seems to be the weak point imo, both for heat soke and dissapointing low down torque. I'd consentrate on that, or ram some air down its throat ;-)

Sorry didnt realise it was uk. Get down there and have a look then! Or get Trigg to have a squiz or someone else down there, and lob-em a few beers ;-)

I've been burned by this, be very very careful. Infact i would forget the whole thing completely from what you;ve said already. Go on the VW vortex forum, lots of chargers cheap on there, and buy off someone thats done a lot of posts. They seem a friendly bunch, and you can normal pm someone else to clarify someones genuine anyway. USA again, so the saving is still there, but also remember the import duties. All me fake emails were from some woman called Claudia Shoeling, if shes sending you emails it is a scam! As double6 will also tell you. She probably a nigerian man actually :-(

id put money on that not being a problem ;-)

I reckon if you get it right you will hit 60 in the low 5s, and a 13 something. I think it will be close too, again if you master the launch. I videod a mk3 golf running very similar power to yours on a VF9 charger setup. He ran low 13s and 5 secs no problem. Just a chirp, no wheels spin until the revs built and a VERY quick change into second. Ill post it up at some point when i find out how to host it. I enjoyed running at interes this yr, pre charger, but even then it was hard not to go wheels spin crazzy!. The old adrenilin/nerves kick in and your perfect planned run goes out the window.

a VF9 will run up to 20 psi on a VR6 (in theory), and a few of the american guys are getting very close to that in golfs. Problem being the toothed drive eliminating belt slip. Available for the golf but not the C due to clearance issues on the crankshaft pulley (needs to be wider for the toothed jobbie). I reckon its too bigger lump to run off a 1.8 4pot. Anythings possible, but i dont reckon it would drive well. Its very linier on the VR, no big lump of low down torque like you get with a sorted 60, just builds and builds and builds and starts to get mad over 4-5k. I presume thats probably more to do with the VR's inherant lack of low down grunt though than the charger.

Nice one Zipp, good on you. Sounds like you had a proper play too. I'd be scared to stuff it in that weather (or the dry for that matter). Glad the rain didnt spoil it for you.

PMSL I have found that Venum are actually quite helpful tbh and the best company i have ever dealt with are VAGPARTS in Swindon. They go out of there way to help, and even let me drop in, bearing in mind they are just a warehouse full of boxes and they made me a cup of tea!! Unfortunately, most of the rest su.k as. as mentioned, and yes this country is not going down the pan, its already half way into the channel. Everyone ive bought off in germany has been fab, and VF engineering have been awsome on email, sending me back pages of explinations on stuff :-) Trouble is over here we are so used to it we actually expect poor service now and just bend over and say thanks :-(

and dare i say it prob one of the few nicer sound tracks behind your head ;-) flat six wirring away at full chat, mmmm goose bumps i drove a carrera 2 (90G plate) and the main things i liked were, noise/torque/germanic purposeful interior and instrumentation/and uuuuuber brakes oh, and the pure fact i was driving a 911, imo the best example of charicter there is for a car.

big difference, id much rather have a non metallic colour so you can do that. So satisfying, but hard work and hard not to go too far. Looks like your doing a top job, she's going to be blingtastic!

I work at one in Salisbury on Sat mornings if thats any help. Would think theres one closer to you though.
-
1 x 12inch iirc is prob best option
-
Can find out no probs, but what C do you have??
-
205/45/16 and prefo 7.5x16 fro best arch fillage, good ride quality, plenty of grip and not too heavy. Plus if you choose the right wheels they will go over 312 discs ;-) and you can still slam your car with no rubbage issues Defo the best compromise looks vs performance over 15s or 17s, IMO

Regardless of 140-160, im rather impressed with the rate it accelerated from 120ish on :-) Very impressive

I fitted a miltek cat bypass pipe and out of all the mods pre-charger it made more of a difference than anything else. id already done the tb and zorst by then. improved the low end grunt which is allways good on a vr. Its quiet when cold but really rather noisey when hot. They are a fraction of the weight of the original system. As for fitment........................... it was nothing short of complete w..k :-) and ill testify to that officer. Had to weld up the lambda hole and move it about 6 inches, and the tail pipe sticks out about 6 inches on the system no matter what you do with cutting it about. Mines only still on there because Vince virtually rebuilt the whole thing for me. They make absolutely fantastic audi systems, and ive heard no complaints on the non VR C side of things, but the VR one seems to be a problem, unless they've sorted it now. :-( and i hate knocking peoples gear, but it was bl..dy awfull. Simple things which could easily be rectified at source though !?

We bought my wifes vento vr on 58k and it it had a little chain noise. It also had full vag history, but im sure thats not the cause ;-) Anyway, its got progressively louder and is now on 120k and is, well, very very noticable at 1200rpm, textbook tensioner noise. But there you go, it still get used "properly" and we are pnly just kinda thinking about doing it now. From discussions i've had, its not rocket science but is a big, time consuming job. Parts will cost you around £400 to do the basics properly as you may aswell do the clutch while your in there. Its gearbox off, front off the car, rad out etc etc iirc

Nice looking car indeed, welcome to the forum

Here you go and here are the options!! 562/572/632/720-CID Big-Block Engines Aluminum Block & Heads 650 to 1,000-Plus Horsepower 720ci !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thats over 10 litres!! lol

Hate generic blond bimbos with fake tits. and why when people have there boobs done do they allways accidently have their nipples stuck back on pointing at the feckin sealing ffs. Like the stockings and legs though. Baldwin motion or yenko camero's, if anyone can find a picture. they look very nice and had all alloy big block 455ci, running around 600hp and more torque and would run 11sec quarters on road tyres. pretty crap now though, but the new retro latest ones look quite cool i think

dude, sweet 60 bud. Josh really looked after it so you should be very happy. im in sals too, fancy a beer or any help with the car just pm me. ;-)
