Matt, I have konis and h&rs and have just fitted lowered spring caps. The spring cap is the part at the top of the front strut that holds the spring captive. They have a shallower design meaning the spring is compressed slightly more when you bolt the strut up to go back on. They have to come out to change shocks or springs anyway and the replacement items look to be identical quality to the new vag ones i had in there. Mine are JOM ones and lowered mine an extra 10-15mm, with no noticable change in ride quality. The koni h&r set up is the most comfortable i have experienced without shelling out on coilovers. Prob works up to about 1200 rpm at which point a VR is sucking more air than it can provide let alone more. Pure conjection though, im sure there really worth while...........lol Wouldnt be suprised if it got eaten and injested! Dont do it mate. or if you do roller it before and after and either sell it too them as advertisiing, or ask them why it didnt work at all. If youve heard a sc vr at 6000, you know no plastic motorpowered thing is going to work!! or is this the air turbulance thing? if so i've heard they are also pure pants

Nicw work mate, that my new wallpaper for work! Back light idea sounds bang on, i fecking hate my crystal rears, they are rubbish quality and look pants! So ill be joining you when i find a mint set of original rears for a good price. Classey motor, jsut right and ive allways loved the black headlight mod.

Just that rather expensive G-force inducer missing now and will be for a couple of years! Trigger, if your on TA's they have rear height adjustment, just dont put it down on the bottom rung like i did or your car will do a "dog with an ichy arse impression" :lol: Spring caps are less than £20 and drop it 10-15mm but retain the ride. Easy to fit when you know how but i do still need a pucker camber set up now before i lunch my new tyres :?

I got a pair of rears from a scrappy the other day in great condition for £20 the pair!! Shame i'd already bought a set from vince for £200 posted but came with everything i needed at the time, the car was off the road and i needed it working. Sorry the other pair went straight away, but if they have any more which is highly likely ill give youa shout. Will be going this sat morn.

As usual I have been abusing 2 members of this forums good will this weekend and the result is a slightly lower car on lowered spring caps. (along with new engine mounts and my exhaust fixed - again, cheers guys!) Ride is still great, which is important as i'm still doing 60 miles a day 6 days a week for now. Anyway, here she is then and now...............

im selling my JVC AVX1, which is a din size unit with a smaller but hui rez screen. Ill wack it back on the 4 sale for £275 ono, if your interested in an all in 1 cheap solution! Worth looking at regardless, if your budget doesnt stretch to Yans £1k bueaty!

If your ride has been that hard for long its prob sh.gged the top mounts anyway. H&R springs give a lovely ride and sensible drop, and koni top adjustable dampers if you have the money. If your really flush then its coilover time. I went in JTG60s car which is down 90-100 mm, the ride on that was amazing, i just couldnt beleive it, and im picky being a 60 mile a day man on sh.t roads here too. What wheels/tyres are you running because if they are 17s thats guna make it harsh too....?

Having helped (hindered in English) mine being removed and refitted i'd be rather suprised if you can get these bushes out without removing the beam!! Mine had basically formed part of the beam after 12yrs in there. the edges splay out even with the right tool and you can crack the beam if you load it wrong removing them. Its all possible regardless of how bigger mess they are, just cant imagine doing it on the car even dropping one side slightly. Lovely difference though mate! i went for oem too

2.0 16v and 1.8 16v both poke out same power btw if you were wondering. 136. Doesnt seem to take much to get it well over 150 though going by most on here!

I've fitted a VF engineering uprated front mount, pretty much ident to yours. Mine does kick for want of a better word when i initially pull away. I know my back mounts are sha..ed so they are being replaced first to see if it cures it. If not the fronts coming out to see if its loose inside. Couple of people have mentioned this can happen when they are new, but they can be tightenned up and refitted. Not sure if the same is true for the vibras, but i think they are virtually the same? Im not saying mine is bad until i get the rears done so no offence to VF as there stuff is usually tops.

Get them to fit the presure sender but do the rest of the gauges yourself, tiz a dodle, even for me!!

I just drove around for a week getting it all wrong then got vince to set it up! Left the grills off until i was happy, but surpercharged's idea sounds best.

Blimmey Ben you did well for £63!! Only got mine for that after omplaining to m-keynes about other stuff! Still this is worth a look if the ford wiper arms fit off a fiesta or some such like. These cars will be appearing in scrappys soon too id imagine, once they have 40k up and are biodegrading etc lol
