Do most people replace the front hub with bearing?
VRTrickster replied to VRTrickster's topic in Drivetrain
Yeah thats what I thought. My dads going to be doing the hard bit of pressing them out anyway, which is nice of him! Im doing a complete overhaul of the front end, then a Stealth geometry done after, so I dont want to be taking it apart any time soon! -
Ive just been looking a couple of how tos on the internet, and the two Ive looked at were replacing the hubs as well. Is it a good idea to replace them? Or is it because its just easier? How much roughly are new front hubs from VW? Ive been looking at some on ebay for £14.95 but is it really that much hassle to just to re use your old ones :?

I read on the Corrado club Canada about trimming some of the rubber off the bottom of the bush around the centre cylinder 3 or 4mm so it slips into the c shape lip on the subframe. Has anyone done this with theres, or just bolted them straight on?

fitting a non adjustable steering column (how-to)

So I should be able to take the adapter off the corrado one and fit it to the polo column? The only thing is it looks different in length? My polo rack is off a 94. -

Ive got a bit of a problem. Im in the process of going fixed. I have the parts stripped of the polo column but the spline adapter is damaged too much to use it! Do I order a polo adapter as I looked at the corrado one and its different? On etka both part numbers for the adapter are the same for adjustable and fixed column? -
Well after all the opinions and advice Ive been thrown, Im going to go for the TAR OX Stradas, cheers! :)

Looks like I was maybe looking at rear pads, as I looked again this morning and the fronts are £82 pounds, I thought they were cheap :?
-
Im quite interested in these, Im just about to change my rack. Do you think he would do a deal for all the steering hoses for a VR, I know he was already doing 10% discount? Cheers!
-
Well Ive been looking at TAR OX Strada on the Awesome website which seems a good price, £52! A lot of the performance pads Ive been looking at tend to be £80 or into the hundreds! Anyone had any experience with these pads?

PAGID FR, FERODO DS, OMP, TAR OX? Any opinions of these?

Ive just purchased some 312mm 8 groove Nitrac discs for up front. I was wondering what would be the best pads to complement them? I was thinking red stuff but Ive heard their pretty harsh to discs. I didnt know whether this would matter so much as the Nitracs are supposed to be stronger/harder due to the freezing process?

Right well I finally got vagcom hooked up and the maf seemed to be doing as you said, 4.5 to 5 then raising with the throttle. It did have a G62 implausible signal, intermittent fault. I replaced the sensor with one from ECP, cleared the codes, and took it for a spin. On my return it had brought up the same code again! I know it could be a faulty connection. I checked the connector and it looked fine except one of the contacts was slightly discoloured. Should I replace the connectors or could it be a faulty new switch? :?

How much could you do the spacers and shields with screws but no bolts and washers? Cheers! -
Right ok, I unplugged it earlier when I got to work and there was no change! I then fitted a spare I had and the car is running better, but Im not sure if that one isnt that great either? The problem Im getting is rough running/idle and also the revs dropping abruptly when dipping the clutch to a point where the battery light flickers, then it picks up. I may fork out for a new one tomorrow from GSF. I havnt had it on vagcom yet, Im trying to sort my laptop out, but Im sure Ill have it up and running soon. Kev what sort of readings should I be seeing for the lambda? Cheers for your help!

Should disconnecting the mass meter whilst idling effect the running as you unplug it on a OBD2 as it does on a OBD1? Im trying to figure out whether it is at fault? Cheers!

VR revs fluctuate when hot with idicators on? HELP PLEASE!
VRTrickster replied to VRTrickster's topic in Engine Bay
Right Ive really given up now! Heres a list of what Ive done so far : 1) Cleaned and greased up all battery terminals 2) Checked all indicator bulbs and contacts and cleaned, and replaced all the bulbs 3) Swapped over the fuse box as I had a spare 4) Checked and cleaned the rear earths to chassis and tail gate, but all looked good and clean. 5) Swapped the indicator switch I checked the voltage to the indicator voltage at the rear lights and I was getting 6 to 7 volts fluctuating with the relay, does this sound right? When I unplugged the rear clusters whilst the problem was happening, it did to reduce the revs fluctuating/pulsing up and down. Any other ideas or advice would be great! :confused4: -
Yeah sure, maybe Ill come to the August one, Cheers!

Yeah sure, maybe Ill come along to the no rice meet and perhaps meet up. When is it? Is it on every month?

bananawhip Ive only just noticed your location, Staines! I was born and raised in those parts, Egham, but I lived just as close to Staines as Egham in Pooley Green. Thats where my rado is at the mo as I cant afford tax, hard times! :(
