  1. If noone else wants the bearings... I'll swap them for some sausages...
  2. Chers David. The reason I ask is that my valver has a lovely short throw and side to side movement, while the VR felt like stiring porridge in a massive mixing bowl. I am going to try fiting an early shift tower/bracketry to the new VR box and see what happens... If that doesn't work I'll just get the angle grinder and cut half the lever off... I'm not worried about not being able to shift quickly or having to put a little effort in, I just want a small movement.
  3. Bonjour. I'm after a little bit of a favour, can someone with a late VR6 please measure how far the top of the gear lever moves side to side and back and forth? I'm only worried about 1st to 5th gates, not pushing it as far as reverse. I would do it, but I took the gearbox out the other day...

    vag.com help

Use the search, this has been answered a couple of times recently... As mentioned above, search for "Latency" and you'll find an answer.

    288mm brakes

Indeed! You might be able to p/x them with a VR owner looking to upgrade....

    VR6 on ITB's

I wonder what size throttle bodies you want? And who makes an adaptor? Might be a good project for your local friendly Crazy_Dave... Wonder what sort of management would be best? There won't be a lot of room for the bodies and filters behind the radiator. I wonder if the radiator could be tipped forward at all?
  9. Maybe because of where the oil pump pick up is in the sump. I can't quite remember where it sits in a VR sump though...
  10. Low oil probably. Which clearly is a problem...
  11. That video is very impressive :) Nice work.
  12. Done it :) Glad you're actually going to give her a whirl :) Good luck.
  13. Actually I can't  I'm sure I used to have that option :confused4:
  14. Sounds nice. Edited your post to embed the video.... Hope you don't mind.
  15. Get it running, get it running, get it running... Oh and do you wnat me to change the first post to be from you, so that you can edit the title?
  16. :) Really good to see it going. :) Can you bring it down on the 30th? :)
  17. Mk2. Nice and cheap to reshell. Light, so it won't need big expensive brakes. Or huge power. Probably go for 16v or VR6 in it. Got plenty of bits lying around. Just need an engine and box really....
  18. Hmmm. I'd be up for that, but would only want to play with one or two others. Think that would be awkward enough anyway... Drop me a PM if you're interested...
  19. Wendy... I'd be happy to help build you a Mk2 VR6 to race. I'll have several of the required parts soon... I think it would be a shame to strip out and potentially damage your corrado, as it is a lovely example. But if you wanted to track it, it wouldn't take much to do, and the mods would be fairly reversible... Big front brakes, new wheels with track day tyres, some bracing, ARBs, suspension upgrades, remove your interior and store in the loft. The car itself is well maintained so it shouldn't need much more than that really... And when you want to upgrade, refit all the standard components and interior and flog it...
  20. Yup. People making extravogant claims are the reason why a lot of the insurance policies are so expensive...
  21. I must admit, i was thinking about a mk2 VR track toy today....
  22. Was gonna suggest that too- fair bit further to travel (although undoubtably worth it!). Bear in mind, you'll probably come back from there with a 400bhp monster  They that tempting then? Serious question by the way... Are DG Autotech that good? I've not had work done by them, but I trust them both completely. I want to follow Dave around all day learning stuff. :luvlove:
  23. I really don't know. It could be a lot of things. Sorry!
  24. hmmmmmmm. Could be somethign more serious if you've had that issue before. Head gasket failed to oil gallery? Dunno really...
