  1. That was me and it may have been pure coincedance but it got fixed. And there was no spray marks there before. If it's just a standard pothole, then it won't need marking up. You need to go directly to the highway authority (local council or highways agency) so that the fault can be properly recorded, and that if you need, you can get a proper reference number.
  2. That's bollocks.... The local council don't have a link to it. Report faults through your local councils website. http://www.hants.gov.uk/roads for example...
  3. I've never fitted a spacer, but they are a lot less than 1 tooth out, aren't they? I've seen some that are miles off due to stretched chains, and they've run really well...
  4. Well, you can sit in it and I'll tow it around with a tractor if you want?
  5. Ok, only one though as I know you really love a Rascal. Excuse the car that got in the way of the pic though - fecking Jap-car owners, think they can park anywhere!! Sorry I don't have any more shots of the Rascal :( No chance of going back and keeping the Evo out the way? :luvlove:
  6. What engine? What does it do when it doesn't start?
  7. Can you get more pics of that Bedford Rascal that you sent me please?
  8. Nope. Engine won't even be back in by then. And I won't be able to afford wishbones and bushes till June's payday.
  9. Went out in the Beiges Golf yesterday, reminded me how nice they sound which has given me a bit of impetus. Nearly owned it 2 years, and drove it for 6 months at the start! Lol. Oh, and stop being a pedant, Helen.
  10. Can you keep this in your existing thread please?
  11. Good to hear she's getting some attention....
  12. Well. In the next fortnight, the plan is for: The VR to have the engine and box lifted out, Cleaning of the bay to begin. Engine to have timing chains etc replaced, schimmel cams fitted and depending on cashflow, new clutch and second hand gearbox fitted. Cleaning of engine and box. Interior refitted. Emptying of all the crap inside. Then while the engine is out, start looking at fixing the paintwork up. The 16v will be getting a new timing belt, water pump, thermostat, pullies, ancilliary belts, oil and filter change and have a bath. Doubt I'll do everything on the list, but it's a start.... Edit, oh, and get the tyres pulled off 4 of the speedies...
  13. There's definitely more than 1 to take out that side!
  14. 6 bolts holding the vr one on I believe. you have to put a socket through the holes in the pulley to get at them.
  15. Well Olive, your common sense doesn't exist.... But I have seen Lucy in real life.
  16. I think the nuts for the camshaft bearing caps are 20nm and the camshaft sprocket is 100nm. Off the top of my head! Might be worth checking I never torque the camshaft nuts up myself, just do them tight. And the sprocket is a little bugger isn't it.... I've had one cam visibly twisting in the vice as I tried to undo it! Edit... Smugness
  17. Lol. Yeah, everyone gets like this. I've had a VR sat looking miserable for 15 months now. Done possibly 2 days work on it.
  18. Stephanie, that is just terrible! The rado deserves a trip out!
  19. Get a timing light. 6 degrees, Etc. Been for a drink, and stuff.
  20. Or could be a knackered windscreen seal, or could be a rust hole around the windscreen frame, or could be a grommet missing, or could be a mischeavious otter?
  21. Posh VW then? I think they still use the funny vaccum central locking. Get her charged right up and see what happens. The issue might get resolved.
  22. The central locking can be a funny bugger. I've had mine playing up before. Does the car have an alarm on it?
  23. Have you got her running now? Charged battery etc?
