And now I have just noticed that my front right is slightly lower than my front left... I mean wtf, why would it be like that??? :(
-
Yeh, will try another garage, see what they say. Last time I checked gsf or euro car parts, I dont remember them having it, but will check again. P.S. My car is lowered by 40mm if that makes a difference to the settings. EDIT: Just gsf and they dont have it, euro car parts have it for £25.70 plus VAT, but none in stock. Anyone got any experience with the accelerator cable from ECP?
-
Just took it to a garage to get the 4 wheel alignment done and they couldnt do it, they couldnt get the equipment on top of the wheels underneath the arches 'cos it was to low and then he said to me; "The standard settings wouldnt matter anyway 'cos you have it lowered, the settings have all changed and we wouldnt know what to set it to" I'm stuck guys, I wanted to get the wheel alignment done anyway, even if I have to get the axle etc changed, I'll still need to do after its all changed to make sure everything is sitting right. What should I do now? Let's assume I do get everything changed, how do I get around the problem of the car being "too low" and what settings should they use? And do I get the axle changed or not? EDIT: Got a quote from VW for the accelerator cable coming in at £41 plus VAT, apparently they changed it over in 1995 and I have the later version which is the more expensive version. Anyone know if they can be had for cheaper elsewhere, (bearing in mind I dont want to skimp on quality) ?

It was an Audi and BMW specialist garage that did the work.
-
Do the trick as in sort it out or as in show what the fault is?

Anyone know of any places in Dundee that do a 4 wheel alignment? Or would any garage have them? Honestly, ever since I found out it might be the rear axle, I've been on such a downer, who would have thought that a car can put you in such a mood... :(
-
I bought it from GSF, £42.50 plus VAT as opposed to £137 from VW, hope its not a mistake making the saving on it though... EDIT: I take it from the responses that there are no other possibilities other than the axle being bent?
-
That's what I'm thinking, but apparently it was fine :( :? How can I be sure?
-
Right, just to explain what happened, was going round a bend on a greasy road, car started to slide, I got scared and lifted off, big mistake I know, lift-off oversteer and basically it ended up with the rear left wheel hitting the kerb. Now, I got it checked out and the brake disc was broken and the axle stub was bent (not the base, just the end of it), and obviously wheel bearing fell to pieces. So, I got new wheel bearings for both rears, new discs and pads for both rears and a new axle stub for the rear left. And since it's been changed, the rear right looks like it has more negative camber than the rear left, and I remember the rear left having as much negative camber as the rear right did, so basically they were mirror images. Now the rear left looks like it has less negative camber, maybe even 0. Is there something else that might be needing checked or might this be needing "bed in" so to speak? Thanks in advance

Lol, I'm thinking the same...

Stealth re-chip - can I use any ron petrol with this?
Dr Forinor replied to matth76's topic in Engine Bay
Any ideas when Tescos 99ron is going to be more widely available? We don't have the stuff in Dundee yet and I'm feckin itching to try it out.... -
Will test the cable then, thanks for the advice Kev :thumbleft:

Sorry, I should have said _leon_ has a G60. Hahahaha, aye, not too bad with the £26 too I reckon. What do you think needs fixed to sort the "pedal moving up" problem then? Could this be linked to possibly needing a new accelerator cable, or is this something else?
-
Read my post again, lol, mine goes up aswell as down... Is it only the VR6 throttle body that has heavy springs or all Corrados? I ask because _leon_'s accelerator pedal is noticebly lighter than mine. Checked with the stealers today and they said £26
-
Hey guys, I doubt this is normal but just wanted to check. If I place my hand under the accelerator pedal, I am able to lift it a good inch or two, this cant be right can it? The pedal is also fairly stiff to push down on. Am I right in thinking these 2 symptoms can be resolved by a new accelerator cable? Or is there something else that needs fixing?
-
How do you mean "beat it"? Looks? In a straight line? Better handling? Did it feel as good to drive as the Corrado does?
-
Agreed fully with Chrishill. Modifiying can mean different things depending on how you look at it, for myself and Chris it means updating to "today's standards", whereas it might mean "engine mods, go faster" to others and to some it may mean "show car only". My opinion is that even as standard the car is beautiful and needs very little done to it to make it look good/better or even perform a lot better, as Chris already pointed out, lowering and clear indicators along with a few minor other things, makes a lot of difference.

The first time I had even heard about them or seen one was in 2000, I seen one go past and thought "Oooohhh bloody hell, what's this then?" and seen the Corrado badge. As soon as I got home, I started searching on the internet about them and every single review (whether an official review by a magazine or by an owner), said the car was amazing. I couldnt find a single bad review about them, and then I started researching the different engines that they came in, and came to the conclusion that I must have a VW Corrado VR6, and here I am. Thank you, whoever you are that drove past me that day in 2000, lol. And to think of it, I was never even a VW fan....

Do your passengers ever get you angry?
Dr Forinor replied to joebloggsVR69's topic in General Car Chat
All of my friends now know not to mess with my car, I have been known to lose my temper if they even touch their greasy paws on my paintwork when it's clean, in fact, I have got my friends so well "trained" that if a person that doesnt know me comes close to the car.. my friends spew out the rules of the car to them. Lol, it's great. And yes... seats same height... dials same position... -

It's nearing time for me to insure my baby aswell, taking into account what I have; 23yr old 1yr NCB Conviction (just this Jan aswell), SP30, 5 points and £125 fine Cheapest by Bell Direct at £900 (declaring air filter, lowered and non-standard alloys, its all that isn't standard). I've tried Brentacre, Adrian Flux and HIC, and they just gave me silly prices. Will try Chris Knott too... -
An artsy fartsy one from me, of my baby...
